DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Hey, gents! So I was hoping to come in today to pass on some possible good news, and I do mean possible as I haven't been approached yet; HOWEVER, instead I'm really T'd off at the moment, and I do mean T'D OFF! Let me start at the beginning: When I started here at my current job as a temp, there was this guy who worked here by the name of Jesse. Really nice guy, we hit it off quite quickly and he showed me the ropes and how things worked. He did what I do now, worked in the stockroom and would help out in the warehouse doing shipping and receiving, mainly receiving, but essentially the same thing I do now. He left not long after I got there for another job which did help me out in that I've been able to keep this job, albeit as a temp, but I've kept the job. Well, yesterday, the lead in the warehouse, who's quite the screw up, was finally fired for screwing up one too many times. This got me thinking that I might be what I need to stay on past the end of the current contract of April 30th. Well, this morning I found out from the other guy in the warehouse, who I've become good friends with, that he was approached by our supervisor to call and ask Jesse (the previous holder to my job) to see if he'd be willing to come back and work in the warehouse because he'd done it before. And I'm like, "Hello!? I'M ALREADY HERE DOING THE JOB!" I of course didn't yell it, but was T'd off that our supervisor didn't even approach me about the job, WHICH I'M ALREADY DOING! It's not like my supervisor doesn't know I need a job, we've talked about this, so for him to not approach me first really T'd me off. Now granted, this job, and the company, isn't something I want to do, or work at, for the rest of my life, but it's a job that I desperately need! I'm so T'd off a the moment I can't see straight.

Wow. That bites. No way around it.

All you can do is keep doing your job until the next opportunity comes along. Then take it and don't look back.

Yes it does.

And that's what I'm thinking. I'm re-writing my cover letter and resume, I'm going then I'm going to apply to all kinds of jobs and see what happens.

Ouch. You have every right to be T'd off since you are already there and doing the job. Is it possible that Jesse lost the new gig because of the virus thing and they are trying to help out an old co-worker?

Without inside knowledge I couldn't say. All I know is Jesse was the man that they thought of first....and that hurt.

That's crap! You should take the next two days off!!!

Wow. You're there... doing the job... and they want to ask someone who's left, to do it.
Have you thought about talking to your super and asking why you aren't being considered?

Morning chaps from a bright and 15c London.

Belle isnt the only one to get her hands on a huge piece of meat this morning.

Our butcher who is a lovely bloke got me a brisket from Smithfield market. He is super busy at the minute with all the supermarket nonsense and people trying to support their local businesses, I popped round and helped him out last Monday to cut and tray up some orders.
He's given me this little piece of heaven for 25 quid, in the understanding that I bring him back some on Tuesday so he can have it in sandwiches for his dinner.
So I might make the call later as I will be tending to this bad boy until about 2 am and then letting it do its thing.

Um... that's maybe not your best analogy of what you're doing...

Nice little quid pro quo there. :)

2am????

Which begs the question.....
What was I doing? :scared1:

Yep, get it going about midnight, maybe have a cheeky bourbon or 2 to toast the cow for it made the ultimate sacrifice for our delicious dinner, and let the temp come up and make sure it's doing its thing, off to bed and let it run through till about 2pm tomorrow. Let it rest a couple of hours, and Bobby's your uncle, Charlie's your aunt. All meaty goodness.

Turned out to be a beautiful day here today. After a couple of day of days of crappy weather it was nice to get back outside today. 7 km walk (68 minutes) and a grocery run made up a good part of the day.

If anyone is interested I just set this up, hope it works.
