DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Okay, I'm calling it for California. Happy weekend, folks.

Just dropped daughter off at the airport, which took about four times as long as expected. At least one, possibly multiple accidents on the freeway there, so we detoured around but there's only so much you can do. Fortunately, she made it to her gate before boarding started with her luggage checked. And now we're down to one kid at home until Christmas.

After that, I don't think I'm getting any more work done today.

You only have to do that for animals larger or smaller than 1ft. If they’re more or less than a meter, they’re fine.
Well my animals are living in Texas, so they are measured in feet guess I am going to have to bust some ice. Maybe the metric system isn't bad if it gets me out of that chore. But I may never get used to things not freezing solid at 1 degree

1 degree Celsius? Just above freezing? T-shirt weather! Yay!

Morning all.

Nice morning here, not too cold not too hot; I'll avoid actual temperatures to keep from adding to the confusion. ;)

Not much on tap today, last weekend of summer vacation for DW as teachers return to work on Monday. I think she plans on just chilling. No big changes in my uncle, I do appreciate all you well wishes thanks again.

Have a great Saturday all.

Afternoon all. Been a great morning for Premier League. Dan's West Ham club won, although, he is a Spurs fan according to their website. He won't care either way as his family did the Kitchen Sink at Beaches n Cream.

My wife is 7 years younger than me. I just remind her that I have that long to plan a response to anything she does on my milestone birthdays.

I think we are ok for parties, but it's just one of those topics I don't get to make jokes about.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Hope everyone has a solid end of the work week and great weekend! Only thing on my docket that I have to do this weekend is fantasy football draft Sunday night. Cheers gents!

I have to admit that I am so happy to be done with the fantasy sports stuff. It was fun, but the baseball one really did me in, even with the championships.

20's is way too cold. I hate freezing weather. Wrapping pipes and busting ice off the water for animals.

::yes:: Hopefully, I'll get to Florida and never have to deal with the cold weather again.

One more year before my oldest is out of the house. Congratulations.

Let's just simplify it and call it 293 Kelvin. Then we're all on the same page.

I need a beer after more Canadian math calculations. :furious:

Morning chaps from a sunny and warm WDW. Kids are getting ready, cheeky snack in MK this morning, homecomin for lunch in the springs and then toy story land this afternoon.

Loved loved loved the Treehouse Villas, as the idea was that Lady K had a bit of a chill, so it was perfect.
Got into the Poly last night after drinking round the world with some friends and then we had the kids in the pool till close while we carried on with the spiky pineapples.

This is the view from our balcony, so not too shabby.

Yes they did, no I’m not, you’re right on the last one.

Have a great day all.

Morning All. Great view Dan.

I had a call from my mother this morning saying that my uncle is no longer in a coma and is able to respond to family and the doctors. He still has a breathing tube in but had developed and infection and pneumonia. Still some encouraging signs.

Seems to be more family drama being caused by his daughter. Sometimes it is good to be a couple of hours away.

Thanks for all the good thoughts guys.

Sorry bud I missed this - all the best from us.

Happy Sunday. It was an enjoyable weekend. A 7 hour drive tomorrow (round trip) for a 2 hour meeting that could be covered with an email. Ugh. :furious:

Nice view. Lady K had a chill at the Treehouse villa and it was perfect? American translation please.

Continued prayers for your uncle.

Hey guys. I’m down to my last couple days of staycation. I was going to mow the lawn yesterday but ended up watching the live stream of the D23 Disney Parks panel. I guess I’m doing vacation right.

This is the view from our balcony, so not too shabby.
Fantastic view. Enjoy it.

Glad you loved the treehouses. We did too.

Hey Dan. We're back in town. Let me know when would be a good time for y'all to meet up (afternoon/evening until weekend).

Pretty sure he's talking Celsius.

20 degrees would be about 70F

Let's just simplify it and call it 293 Kelvin. Then we're all on the same page.

I was told there would be no math!

I need a beer after more Canadian math calculations. :furious:

I agree.

Football is the best as far as fantasy goes. It is short and fairly easy to keep up with. Baseball, Hockey, basketball, etc. are just too long and complicated to enjoy.

I agree with this, too.

Loved loved loved the Treehouse Villas, as the idea was that Lady K had a bit of a chill, so it was perfect.

Sounds like you're doing vacation right.

Glad to hear it. Hope things continue in a positive direction.

At the very least, you have your priorities straight.

What did you think of the announcements? I think the new attractions could be a lot of fun, and I'm interested to see what Epcot looks like when all is said and done. But I am sad about Future World going away forever. It blew me away as a kid and was the reason I fell in love with Epcot in the first place.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Hope all had a great weekend enjoying the Parks and and Star Wars announcements that came out of D23 this weekend. The new SW trailer showed at D23 came out today - pretty interesting looking. Got a 4 day work week this week followed by a 3 dayer next week so getting some extended holiday R&R in. We have a den that used to be used for the kids to hang out in first as a toy room then a tv watching video game playing hang out with their friends room. That room has become the store their carp from college, wedding and the myriad of DWs workout items collecting dust. Well we are reclaiming and started this weekend on the "Disney memory" room. Garbage men are gonna have a fit at house this week - here's how far we got yesterday

Still work to do with picture frames and photo albums and wall hangings plus a new rocker recliner for tv viewing but what a difference when you just start getting rid of carp that has not been touched / used in years.

Love the view - enjoy! We have had that same view and just loved sitting on the balcony watching the day start with the boats or watching the night end with the activities. Best resort view in all of WDW if you ask me.

Good to hear the improvements in your Uncle but sorry about the family drama. Seems too many folks have to deal with that drama when families should be pulling together.

Look on the bright side, could be a red eye out to Minneapolis and late night back for a 1.5 hour meeting.

Future world going away? I hadn't heard that one. But, it's not surprising given how empty it's been over the past few years. Epcot has very few attractions anymore, and they just close & refurbish them there.

Good luck on the Disney room.

BLT has the best view thus far, except I haven't stayed at GF.

A flight is way better than a car ride.
