DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Gotta wait one more day to see if the Jets will advance or not. I think the whole city is holding its breath.
It's pretty amazing, actually. You can't go more than a few feet without seeing a "Go Jets Go" sign somewhere.

Always fun when your team is on a run. Game 7 is always appointment viewing, too.

Another sunny day and things are slowly returning to normal. Most of the flooded streets have been cleaned up and opened. Still a lot of water but the river is dropping noticeably. The water flow through the dam just north of here was about 5.2 millions liters per second yesterday; by Saturday that should drop to just over 2 million.

Glad to hear it!

I certainly could, but I'm already dealing with one of the better outfits in the area and the price asked for the unit being installed in actually very competitive based on what research I've been able to do. The old one is well out of warranty and right in the range of service expectancy for our climate (and it does have some serious problems). It also uses a refrigerant that is restricted and in mid phase-out so future repairs to try and baby it onward will get progressively even more expensive as the price per pound of R22 continues to sky rocket. It's not good timing to be sure, but I believe that it's in my best interest to do the work now. Besides, upgraded A/C unites return more then their original value on home appraisals; especially this far south.

I can't imagine trying to go without A/C in the Carolinas in summer. Not sure what's a bigger money pit--our homes or our cars.

I could use more money

So say we all!

Hello Gents, I missed 10+ pages there! I hope all are doing well.

I had a course at work last week that took up 3 days. I know training is part of the job, but the worst thing is not only the time it takes, it seems like I just can't catch up with "actual" work after missing those 3 days.

60 Day mark today so it's nice to start off a day booking FP+. Except................. Slinky Dog was a PITA but was able to work around original plans to get FP+ for all 3 TSL attractions which if you are not aware are all tier 1. Good thing we are at Boardwalk and there long enough to be able to hit HS 3 different days.
Morning gents.

I'm with ya so please have your Jets shut up all these local (Nashville) yahoos and their dumb a$$ minor league chants who don't know the difference between a blue line and a red line. C'mon Big Buff (sure do miss himfor my Hawks).

It can wait, can only put 10 lbs in a 5 lb bag before something just gives.

Happy Wednesday. Finishing up work at the other job, and should have about 4 weeks off this summer. I'll be lying in the sun in my back yard in mi budgie smugglers, in case you are planning a trip.

'Morning all...
"And ain't it a lovely morning..."

Yes, a must have on AC. A Lennox unit was used in the construction of our home 18 years ago. I may have preferred a Trane. But, the other has worked well so far, until i post about it here, then ...

BBQ is a bit of a desert down here so I would definitely go. If I ever make it up there again, Moonlite would be a stop I would go out of my way to eat there. I like the suggestion of the Bourbon bar for dessert. I'll just sleep in my car after rolling out of there.

.

Or, you could walk down the road to a nearby motel that rents rooms by the hour. I think there hasn't been a crime committed there so far this year, well, a major crime. :lmao:

Morning boys from a overcast London. Let's go JETS! I've watched Hockey live twice, the first time I spent most of the game looking for the puck, the second time I was too drunk to care.
The boy is all excited as the Yankees and the Sox have announced they are playing 2 regular season games over at West Ham next year, so he's mithering me to go see that. Not that I needed much convincing.

I'll just sleep in my car after rolling out of there.
Vaguely interestingly, that's illegal in the UK, to be in a car with the keys while under the influence.

Just to confirm. You are asking me that?!??!?
"Dats de Sheee Ka Go Weeeeah" :sad2:
Still not as bad as Don Cheadle in Oceans 11.

Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It's Off To Work You Go. Just remember to whistle while you work.
It's a bit more like "Dig dig dig dig, dig dig dig dig, work the whole day through....."

Early estimates were about 24 million in damages
Yeesh. Good to hear it is starting to recede.

Have a great Thursday boys.

I have no idea what this is.

Finishing for good or just a break from it?

Morning, boys.

Let's go JETS! I've watched Hockey live twice, the first time I spent most of the game looking for the puck, the second time I was too drunk to care.

Then you’re doing it right.

Still not as bad as Don Cheadle in Oceans 11.

Even I knew that was bad.

I have no idea what this is

Still doing it right.

Morning guys, hoping to go back to sleep soon.
Aaaaaaand a little part of me died...

Extended training is the worst. You can just feel the e-mails piling up while you're there.

Note to self: avoid Kentucky this summer.

Even I knew that was bad.

Great movie, though.

Morning guys, hoping to go back to sleep soon.

You got up just to log on and tell us this?

Carp. Hurt my knee last night playing tennis and can't put any weight on it. Went to the doctor for some pain meds and MRI. Regular x-ray is fine, so waiting for insurance to improve. Anyone done Disney on crutches? :furious:

Finishing for good or just a break from it?

No, just a break. Have to take vacation days and flex off time before fiscal year July 1.

Morning guys, hoping to go back to sleep soon.

Enjoy retirement?

Extended training is the worst. You can just feel the e-mails piling up while you're there.
?

How did anyone get any work done without emails? :sad2:

Gentlemen, there is a period of time in every man's life in which he goes through a "dry spell". Now this dry spell could be related to not having your drink of choice for some time, to not getting a hit or scoring a goal in a while, or even something along the lines of not seeing Jasmine's magic carpet for a while.
My friends, my dry spell has been four years. In four long years I have not had a Dole Whip or the superior (yes, I said it) citrus swirl, I have not had a Mickey bar, Mickey waffle, Mickey crispy treat, Mickey...well you get the picture. I had been used to seeing the World with my family every year or so. But then things happened. Job changes, financial changes, some medical stuff, all keeping us as the "have not family" wondering when that day might come again.
Well, as a man once said "one day the sun will shine and have not will be no more". Gentlemen, for me that day will be the 17th of August, 2018. Yes, the vacation days have been approved by the boss, the hotel has been booked, the flights have been purchased, and it's all over but the crying (tears of joy...until the visa statement comes, then it's different tears).

I'm happy to report that my family will be staying at All Star Music from August 17-27, 2018.
I was never sure if this trip would ever happen, and it will be a little different than my other trips. I've never been to either of the All Stars. I have nothing against them, and they seem nice enough. But we settled into being a "moderate" family. The deluxe resorts look beautiful and I'm sure they are. But without being DVC, they are a bit hard on my wallet. The moderates gave us two sinks, queen beds, which for a family of four (three ladies), it was nice. Looking at another trip, I knew I had to take a different financial approach. I'm not where I was four years ago. This trip there will be no Universal, no shopping spree, fewer days overall. When the free dining came out, I started thinking about it. I nearly missed it all, the rooms are so limited for free dining. By the time I got the vacation days approved and looked at prices, the only thing left in free dining was preferred rooms at ASMu. But I'm sure it will be great.

Any of you stayed at All Star Music before? Any suggestion or recommendation/tips?
Anyone going to the World those dates? I remember some of you are going, just can't remember when (I didn't pay as much attention when I though I wouldn't be there!)

Finally getting a chance, albeit brief, to catch up here.
You sound like you're on my schedule

Let's go JETS! I've watched Hockey live twice, the first time I spent most of the game looking for the puck, the second time I was too drunk to care.
Yes, go Jets! I have a hard time believing I'm writing that, but the alternatives are a bit mind boggling. Really Dan, can you imagine a Tampa-Las Vegas final? In what universe do we live? You'll have to try finding the puck this time and see if the Jets can pull it off tonight.

Then you’re doing it right.

Dang, sorry to hear that. Well, look at the silver lining, it might be fun to zoom around in an ECV?

First off; awesome! Congrats!

We have stayed as ASM a couple times. I like it. Nice thing is that its in the middle of the 3 all stars, so you can walk to the other 2 if you want a different pool or scenery (depending on where your room is one will prob be much closer than the other).

I hear you about the room size concerns; we are DVC, so I get spoiled with those rooms a bit, but I have to say that as my kids get older and we're spending less time in the rooms and more in the parks, it's becoming less important. I am sure it will work out for you just fine once you get a routine of who gets the bathroom when!

As of right now, there is a chance that I will be down for a couple days during that time frame, haven't finalized anything yet, but looking possible. If we do book, it would be fun to meet up!

I have a number of times. When I am at Disney, all I need is a room to sleep and wash up in, otherwise we are hitting the parks, bars and restaurants, not necessarily in that order . I like ASMu better than the others, it's cheaper and it's cheaper. As far as DVC, I am not a member, but I do rent points, mostly from other DISDads, and that is what I have been doing to last few years.
