DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Afternoon gents. Just settling in at work to end my week.

Full English Roast today, with Roast Sirloin of Beef on the bone, Roast Potatoes, Broccoli/Cauli Cheese, Honey Roasted Carrots, Yorkshire Puddings, Parsnips (not for me, they are the devil's food) and lemon cheesecake for dessert.

That sounds delicious (except for the turnips.... agree with you. Not as bad as Brussels sprouts... but not far off either.)

I'm having almost exactly the same thing.
Well, not the cheesecake.
Actually, none of the veggies.
Um... and we don't do Yorkshire pudding other than from a package. (I should learn, though.)
Oh, no potatoes either.

Come to think of it, no meat.

I am having a banana.
So... pretty close.

My FIL (who is an absolute star) dug out his Cona coffee pot that they use in Victoria and Alberts and has passed it on to me, so that's going on later.

Cool! I've not seen it in action IRL, but have heard a few people describe it.
From what I've heard, it's the way to make coffee.

Not doing lights this year. Agree it was fun when the kid was younger but too much a hassle now.

We have to. It's the only thing that staves off the desire to kill oneself during the long, cold winter.

Not as bad as Brussels sprouts... but not far off either
::yes::.
The only acceptable place for Sprouts is in Bubble and squeak. Or the trashcan.
From what I've heard, it's the way to make coffee.
I think so. its the smoothest, least bitter way to make coffee. I love it, even though I really enjoy espresso. Not at all bad for 150 year old tech. I remember someone telling me it was invented in the Victorian era, that's why it's served at V&A.

No meat? That's almost as bad as Yorkshires from a packet. Hope work goes quickly for you.

Trash... might be too good for Brussels sprouts.

Huh!
Not being a coffee drinker, I wouldn't know.

I'll be darned. Hadn't heard that. Makes it that much more... well... perfect.

Weekend evenings are pretty slow. Should go by okay. :)

Have to wait until tonight until the Dolphins lose to the Raiders
That one's on at 0130AM. All I've got is the Chiefs at Dallas. But saying that, I've just seen a great running TD by Hill.

Hello gents,

Proud to report that my oldest DD has been given the lead role of Ariel in her high school production of Footloose the musical. She’s very excited about it. It’s something she has wanted to do all through high school and this being the year she graduates it was her last chance. She’s auditioned for musicals before and always done well with the singing but got tripped up with the dancing (pun partially intended). But she made it through this time. Now to wait until the big night in February. Plenty of rehearsals before then. It’s going to be a busy few months.

No mate, its the Cona Vacuum Size D, a proper retro. They go for about $350 on amazon. He brought it round without me asking and said he'd rather someone enjoy it. It was a wedding gift and they got married in '65. Obviously he had the first ceremonial cup. They are proper after dinner theatre.

That is a nice one. I'm hoping to get to Victoria & Albert's one year.

That was a great run, and some terrible defense.

Congrats to dd. Have fun chauffeuring.

Morning chaps from a foggy East London, with the sun starting to burn through.

Opticians today, and then starting to reach out to my contacts to talk about coming back into the rat race in April time. West Ham's manager was sacked this morning.

Morning folks.
Still snow on the ground. But I'm sure it will all be gone by May.

Now that's more like it. I still think of London as foggy.
Even with never having seen fog there and despite what you'd said.

Opticians today, and then starting to reach out to my contacts

Getting new contacts from the optician. Check.

Glad your back is getting better...bad backs stink.

Thanks. Every day is a bit better than the day before... except when I aggravate it.

I hate crappy spines.

Morning Gents,

Wet but warm morning here in the North. Busy day at in the office and then in Toronto for the next 3 days.

Have a good one.

I hate crappy spines.

Me too! (on both your and my daughter's behalf)

'Morning all...
I may be in the minority, but I'm glad to have that hour back on the clock.
It made my 5am wake-up call a mite more tolerable.

Quite the spread...
Were y'all celebrating or is that normal for a Saturday 'round your humble?

We didn't have anything that elaborate, but we did have dinner at a pub before heading out for the evening's entertainment. Well... it's a place run by a couple of English expats that calls itself a pub, but it seems to set the right tone. The Missus ordered up a beef pasty while I indulged in a Smithwicks and Rubin-Burger. Dang fine eatin'. Far superior to the West Ham Liverpool game on the tubes.

I am having a banana.
So... pretty close.
Close to what?
Disappointment?

Busy indeed.
Congrats to the young'en.
Hard work paying off and rewarded by more hard work on the horizon.
And that's as it should be.

I'm hoping to get to Victoria & Albert's one year.
I am also hoping to get to Vicky & Al's at some point.
Well...
More actually, I'm hoping that someone else take us there and pick up the tab, but you get the idea.

starting to reach out to my contacts to talk about coming back into the rat race in April time.
Looking to end the stay at home dad experiment or just making adjustments to the scheduling?

Morning folks.
Still snow on the ground. But I'm sure it will all be gone by May.
Yeah, no way I'd be allowed to tolerate that kind of foolishness.
Myself, I'd get use to it, but the boss would string me up if I moved her into a climate like that.

Thanks. Every day is a bit better than the day before... except when I aggravate it.

I hate crappy spines.
May the healing continue (and stop being so aggravating).

Bad backs are certainly un-fun...
My spine is still recovering from its titanium upgrades.
But regular aches and stiffness certainly win out over having no feeling in my hands...
So - needless to say - I'll get over it.

With perhaps a murderous knifeman and plenty of wenches hanging outside public houses?
I'm all for the notion of wenches in pubs.
Murderous knifeman?
Do believe we'll pass on that upgrade.

I microwaved a hot dog for lunch.
A true epicurean...

Took a sick day and went to the dentist for regular check-up. All is good.

Opticians today, and then starting to reach out to my contacts to talk about coming back into the rat race in April time. West Ham's manager was sacked this morning.

Maybe they will hire you as West Ham's manager, especially since you can see.

Wet but warm morning here in the North. Busy day at in the office and then in Toronto for the next 3 days.
.

High 60s, low 50s here. Stinks.

With perhaps a murderous knifeman and plenty of wenches hanging outside public houses?

That sounds great, minus the murderous knifeman.

I am also hoping to get to Vicky & Al's at some point.
Well...

A true epicurean...

Yes, you are in the minority. The sun sets way to early now. Maybe epicureans like ending the day in the dark at 4 PM. :lmao:

Yeah, that tab at V&A is what has kept me out. It's hard to imagine dropping all that coin on some grub to be crapped out later. Maybe I'll reach my senses one day.

Sounds like everyone had a pretty decent weekend - except CJ witht he Gators and Dolphins. Worked on our Christmas village decor this weekend as I rebuilt all the diorama scenery and DS was home to help. For those that say its too early, we like to enjoy as much as possible, we still decorate as much as ever and have not cut back yet, we are getting older so starting now allows us enough time to be all done by Thanksgiving weekend so that we can just enjoy the season and the decorations. Lets get this week over with, 'eh.
Saw the Thor Ragnorak movie and enjoyed it. There were lots of scenes with the Hulk, which is what i enjoy the most, and he needs someone other than humans to fight. Good humor, and great villain character.
Saw with DS Friday night, we enjoyed it a lot. More humor than most Marvel flicks and agree Hulk having more lines was good.

My FIL (who is an absolute star) dug out his Cona coffee pot that they use in Victoria and Alberts and has passed it on to me, so that's going on later. In terms of work, only pressure washing the patio today. Man Utd v Chelsea is the big game, so with my FIL (who's from Manchester), there will be a bit of good will towards Man Utd out of this house today. Started to watch the Bama/LSU this morning, will finish off tomorrow. Just waiting for the announcement that the West Ham manager will be sacked this week. Bad news Bears on a bye week.

Have a great day boys, however you are occupying yourselves.

007 out.
Sounds like a real good all around weekend. Been thinking about getting a coffee press for a bit now.

All the best with the rat race re-entry.

Agree as getting up and driving in when it is still dark just sucks. However, getting home in the dark also sucks and results in yard work all having to occur on the weekends this time of year. Depends on the which of the 2 evils you dislike most.
