DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
well that didn't work out well. 3-2.

It was a great game. Can't believe West Ham lost.

I think I am having a heart attack watching Florida beat LSU. "Elizabeth I'm coming to join you." (Old farts will know that line) Fourth and goal and stopped at the 1/2 yard line.

Bad news is we get to face Alabama in the Championship.

Fred Sanford. I can hear that theme music now.

Morning chaps, from a drizzly & cold London. This is the kind of weather that makes us type into google "florida real estate".

Yesterday started to get the christmas decorations down, and this turned into a full blown re-organisation of the attic. Finally got rid of all my old vinyl, and a ton of CDs. Gave about 500 DVDs to the local cancer charity shop. Kept back 2 records, that I thought might be worth something, and checked ebay. They go for £1000 each.
So that was nice.

Carrying on in the attic, and finishing off the decoration making until the Dallas game at abut 6 our time.

Fourth and goal and stopped at the 1/2 yard line.
I'm watching it on catch up on your recommendation CJ! Spoiler!

Have a great Sunday all

I know a lot of guys who'd be happy to sell you some Florida real estate.

A lot.

Yesterday started to get the christmas decorations down, and this turned into a full blown re-organisation of the attic.

You had me there for a second. Usually when we hear "Taking the Christmas decorations down." it usually means it's January.

Gave about 500 DVDs to the local cancer charity shop.

Generous of you.

Nice! So... about that Florida real estate...

My apologies, I didn't take into account the international reach of our little group.

I'm watching the CFL East and West finals today, but later on, after at least one is already over. Don't ruin it cj!
The life of cj. To ruin football games in all countries.

:rolleyes1

My apologies, I didn't take into account the international reach of our little group.
No worries buddy, if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be watching it at all.

I know a lot of guys who'd be happy to sell you some Florida real estate.
Like Tony Soprano guyz? We were looking at holmes beach as an area to go for.
You had me there for a second. Usually when we hear "Taking the Christmas decorations down." it usually means it's January.
Yeh, our time zone isn't that bad.

Took 3 Jeeps worth of old stuff down the recycling centre. Now am starting to live through the hell that is Christmas Cartoons. We are currently on Curious George's Merry Monkey Christmas. Joy to the world, and all that.

Holmes beach? I think the land in question was more.......... swamp like.

We are currently on Curious George's Merry Monkey Christmas. Joy to the world, and all that.

Good Lord.
Nothing says Christmas like a monkey and a guy in a yellow hat.

Bad subs.

I guess. Tottenham did take it to them in the 2nd half. I thought West Ham started playing too conservative.

Good find on the vinyl. Are you gonna cash it in? And, I'm with you on the Florida real estate. Should have the house paid off in 4 or 5 more years. Then, I hope to buy something there.

I know a lot of guys who'd be happy to sell you some Florida real estate.

A lot.

And just how legitimate are those guys. I'd buy now in Vero Beach if it was a good enough deal.

We donate to our local St. Vincent de Paul. They have a store and will do real low resale prices to pay the rent & utilities. The diocese helps fund it as well. They also give stuff away to those who can't afford it. Somehow, as fast as I can drive things over, we can get the house filled back up.

Happy Sunday gents! Nice visit with BIL & SIL along with kids for FIL birthday - gonna take a bit for the 'ole guy to recover but his health is getting better. Finished all outdoor decorations including stringing C6 bulbs throughout the garland and Mickey wreaths. All that's left is running all the cords to bring power to everything but that will wait til this week. Only working Monday and Tuesday this week so nice 5 day break to enjoy Thanksgiving and looking forward to next Saturday's college football. Oh by the way, Notre Dame is a train wreck! enjoy NFL Sunday guys.

Congrats on the Gator's win, and, to the LSU coaching staff on play calling "you big dummy"
Well, at least now I have something to look forward to...I think.
Here's the backside pic on how the frames are assembled. Cable ties help keep the ears attached and the garland attached to the frames.

Good news. And if I may say, what a lovely backside.

We do a similar thing with furniture and the big stuff. They resell to fund local shelter. With you on the West Ham comment, there is an old saying over here, they can't score if you've got the f'in ball. Took 2 of our best technical guys off, and put on 2 who will not be here past the Jan transfer window.

Tell me the guy is standing by with the Nuclear Override button, a la Griswald.
Good Lord.
Nothing says Christmas like a monkey and a guy in a yellow hat.
Or a green thing voiced by Boris Karloff. No prizes for what we watched next.

And just how legitimate are those guys. I'd buy now in Vero Beach if it was a good enough deal.

Completely legit! Why, where the land stands on end, they'll sell both sides!

Or a green thing voiced by Boris Karloff.

Hey, hey! Wait a second! Don't go infringing on my cherished memories!
When I was a kid there were exactly two Christmas toons to watch. That one and Charlie Brown. That's it! And when they came (exactly once per year on only one of our two channels) you better bet it meant Christmas was coming!

Good news. And if I may say, what a lovely backside.

Tell me the guy is standing by with the Nuclear Override button, a la Griswald.
"Why thank you Doctor" another old guys will get that quote. Not quite nuclear override, especially since I have gone all LED but the hands on my house meter seem to get a workout this time of year :rotfl:

So, DW and DD9 have officially been registered for a "Dance the World" trip with her dance school. They will be going to WDW in July and dancing at Epcot (in World Showplace, which doesn't really make sense to me since it's hidden away, but anyway, that's what the dance school planned). I just got their plane tickets over the weekend.

I think I mentioned this on Facebook last month, but the kicker is that I can't go. You may remember that I have a different kind of work schedule, where I'm overseas working for a month and then home for a month. Of course July is when I'm scheduled to work and I haven't been able to change it. I gave some serious thought to doing a family trip in April when the girls are off school for Easter, but after crunching numbers, I've decided it just doesn't make sense financially. It's really going to be tough for me to be at work knowing DW and DD are in WDW.

On the bright side, it does give me an excuse for a solo trip sometime, maybe a DDCC!

DW is definitely going to have to bring something back for me. I wonder if Dole whips pack well in a carry on?

Evening guys,

Getting a little chilly down here. You certainly can laugh but it will start out in the 50's tomorrow. Had to wear a sweater today to go with my shorts and sandals. Wearing a long sleeve shirt and fleece pants. Oh, and a blanket. I might even close the windows tonight.

Braved Publix to buy the vittles for turkey day. Went in the morning so it was't too bad. Menu is Turkey, portobello risotto stuffing, parmagiano topped mashed potatoes, sautéd mushrooms (Why? I don't know it was her choice), rolls, gravy and pecan pie for desert. I was jonesing for pecan pie, had a piece tonight and I may have made a wrong choice. Too sweet. She still has to pick out her main dish and figure out what to do with the sweet potatoes. Thanksgiving is my favorite meal of the year and I want to start cooking (and eating) it now.

Easy week coming up, errands, stuff to do around the house and getting ready for the feast.

Went to an awards ceremony for DD19 last night. She was one of a few students who received bursaries/grants. It was mercifully short.

That is always good news, money and a short ceremony.

Couldn't you just use the turkey based stock and tell her it was a veggie stock with extra seasoning? :lmao:

Nah, she would figure it out. Mine has some taste to it.

I'm watching the CFL East and West finals today, but later on, after at least one is already over. Don't ruin it cj!

The East wins with a walk off home run in the bottom of the 8th.

Happy Sunday gents! Nice visit with BIL & SIL along with kids for FIL birthday - gonna take a bit for the 'ole guy to recover but his health is getting better.

That is great news.

It's been a cold Sunday. Temps never made it out of the 40s.

With you on the West Ham comment, there is an old saying over here, they can't score if you've got the f'in ball. Took 2 of our best technical guys off, and put on 2 who will not be here past the Jan transfer window.
.

That explains it, when you don't have the players on the pitch.

Completely legit! Why, where the land stands on end, they'll sell both sides!
g!

Is it warmer than 40? Sounds like a great deal. :lmao:

?

That is rough, but you're a good dad for letting them go and enjoy the experience.

Sounds like a good menu. I'd rather hang at your house. I've got to go to both DW's parents (divorced) in same day and eat some real bad food. I'm just hoping there will be a day when I can enjoy the holidays.

Did you hear about Charlie Strong getting fired at Texas? He was a good coach at Florida and UL and I hope he does well.

Daddy got to pick the second cartoon. I picked that one.

Atta boy.

"Why thank you Doctor" another old guys will get that quote.

Hmmm... Nope. Drawing a blank here.

Not bad. We traveled a few times for Dance, but always in Canada.

I think I mentioned this on Facebook last month, but the kicker is that I can't go

Well, that just ain't right. I recommend rescheduling Dance the World.

I wonder if Dole whips pack well in a carry on?

Dry ice. Available at nearby stores.

Getting a little chilly down here.

Uh, huh.

I might even close the windows tonight.

Oh, shut up.
I'd cry, but I'm afraid the tears will freeze and then I won't be able to blink.

That is always good news, money and a short ceremony.

::yes::

The East wins with a walk off home run in the bottom of the 8th.

Heh. You should try watching it though. Ever seen 6 guys in motion before the snap?

Is it warmer than 40? Sounds like a great deal. :lmao:

Morning all...
budgeting time at work and they're keeping me busy looking after the tools and data.
I'm reading along but don't always have time to answer back.
Hope all are well and stay that way.

Kept back 2 records, that I thought might be worth something
Which two records did you hold on to?

(and why hasn't anyone else asked that already?)

When I was a kid there were exactly two Christmas toons to watch. That one and Charlie Brown.
The Christmas season does not start until after I hear Boris Karloff and Thurl Ravenscroft tell me that story.
(and I refuse to watch it until after the US Thanksgiving Holidays.)

Top O the Mornin Dads! Today is the 40th anniversary of the release of the original Rocky filem. Pretty easy week with only a couple of days in the office and then a nice 5 day family Holiday time. In the 20's this a.m. which I am loving. Crisp cool / cold means the holidays are here.

Congrats to the girls on their trip and like you reference, you got a "you owe me one" out of it maybe.

Sounds like you have everything well covered except didn't see any hourdevours? Got to have some munchies to go with the first football game no? Thanks for the nice words regarding the FIL.

Sorry about your Turkey day struggles. Hang in there cause there will be a day when you get to host the family as the grandparents. My parents were divorced as well and it made it tough when the kids were young to be in 3 places at once. BIL and I decided that one of us would host a Holiday and invite both sides of parents. When we moved to Tennessee we would go back north the first few years for Thanksgiving but when mom passed I just made the call that we were staying home with our family and whoever wanted to come down we would put them up at our place.
Hmmm... Nope. Drawing a blank here.
This help?
