I dated a girl who's dad made his own illegal shine and took pride in it. He had a cellar and aged them for a decade at a time. I thought it was quite a bit for one family's use though.

Already thought about rain, for that I will move to the rockers on the covered front porch. Trying to keep low key on the Cubs as my hear has been ripped out enough as it aint like they are the Blackhawks. With that being said, they are a heck of a baseball team and hope they close the deal out so that this group of players who look to Cubs for several years still don't have to deal with the past history for another year.

beautiful fall morning here in NB. We avoided any of the fallout from Mathew here but our neighbours to the east, Nova Scotia, seems to have had some issues. I heard a report of about 60,000 without power and some pretty bad flooding in parts of the province.

Beautiful fall day here today. Monday night and yesterday we had the remnants of Matthew blow through. Here in St. John's we only had some moderate rain and wind, lost most of the leaves off the trees but that's minor. The south coast of our island got hit pretty bad, a lot of roads washed out, about 1.5 million damage.

No fat? But that's the good stuff! I saw on Masterchef they actually rice the potatoes then add butter/cream and mash them. Supposedly that's the proper fancy way to mash spuds. They probably don't call them spuds either.

Our vacation plan today included walking a mile to Dairy Queen for Blizzards

Just last weekend a DQ opened literally around the corner from my house. I am not yet sure what effect that will have on my waistline.

And let's not forget, hockey season is back!

Auston Mathews is gonna be a special player. He looked more than ready in the World Cup and he has a hat trick already in his first game tonight.

I feel like the weather guys got this one ALL wrong. It was supposed to hit anything and the next thing you know, half the east coast is getting washed out. I want a job where I can always be wrong, yet still keep my job.

We've got one within walking distance of our house. It's dangerous! DW will suggest we go for a walk, which always ends up at DQ. DQ does not go well with my Keto diet.

Happy Thursday all. Day 5 of Staycation is upon us. Yesterday was DW's birthday, and I realized I hadn't bought her a present in almost 10 years. Well, other than the vacation at WDW as her birthday always fell during Fall Break. I think I did ok though - Amazon Gift Card, candy, and Cabo Wabo tequila.

Glad you made safe thru the storms. DQ hasn't had a big effect, and not because of how it tastes, but because of the cost. I enjoy those candy filled blizzards, but they are pricey.

Morning Guys,

Another lovely fall morning in NB. Trees are starting to lose their leaves so I see raking in my future.

Played soccer again last night, 1st game of a 2 game, total goal semi-final and we are up 2-1 against the team that was 1st overall in the regular season. Should be a good game on Sunday night.

Top O the Mornin Dads and Happy Friday Eve! Hawks did not look good last night, could be just a so so season as they are playing 6 rookies and the 3rd and 4th line need a lot of work. Looks like the Salary Cap has caught up to them.

I want a job where I can always be wrong, yet still keep my job.

It behaved pretty much as I expected it to and followed NOAA's best predictions. Up until it got to NC that is.
Eastern NC is pron to flooding though so the higher rain totals they got were the real problem. Had the thing come ashore earlier it would have been better for the river system up that way, but then that area would have been devastated by the storm surge. Just no way to win with a hurricane.

Happy Thursday. Been another relaxing day. DW went clothes shopping with the dds, which would be so much for a cheap staycation. Tennis again tonight, with temps in the 60s. Outdoor tennis will be over soon, and I can't afford indoor tennis unless you guys are sending me $.

A chocolate dipped cone is good, but my favorite is their signature blizzard which mixes soft serve ice cream with choice of candy that is blended, swirled, mixed together. After mixing, it is held upside down with spoon inside to show how thick it is.
