DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all. It is 52 degrees here this morning. Not quite sure why I cancelled that Fall Break trip - oh yeah, the hurricane. This is the first fall break in more than a decade where we haven't gone on vacation. Off to a cold start, but I'm sure we 'll make the best of it.

Sitting on patio waiting to watch Cubs. Had a couple of Sam Adams Octoberfest earlier now enjoying a nice cigar and bourbon. GO CUBS!

.

They have a had a great year, good pitching, and good defense. I think this is the year they win the WS. The Giants seem like the most difficult matchup. One year off for the Back to the Future movie? Maybe flying cars next year. :lmao:

Ah, Thanksgiving madness. One more day then time to prep for Christmas.:sad2: At least I have no duties/responsibilities anymore. Unless I score the assistant manager position, then all bets are off. There's both an A store and B store up for grabs.

.

Good luck on the job front.

Six months off is really the only reason I considered this crazy thing in the first place. I enjoy getting outdoors hiking and camping, so the time off allows for some of that.

I'm either good enough, have enough seniority, or the technology has improved that my travel has been localized to an overnight here or there. I had to drive to campus this week, but get to do the daily 150 mile commute. It makes for long 10 hour days, but i still did a half day Thursday and off Friday. When I started this gig 10 years ago, I was gone one or two weeks a month, living out of the hotel. It was a big relief when video calls happened so I could see and talk with the family. Sadly, it just doesn't pay enough money. I've done some other side jobs over the years to pick up some pay, but I enjoy my time off and enjoy playing tennis. Like every job, there are pros and cons.

Best of luck

Good luck buddy. I remember when I had my first Christmas as a store manager. My birthday is Xmas Eve, so I got home at 9PM, fell asleep and woke up Christmas Day night. I'd worked 20 days straight. Evil.

Oh the union would have a say about that, managers might need to pull that but not the rest of us. We will know by the end if the year.

Evening boys from a very temperate London evening. With the family, watched the England game and now round the fire drinking bourbon. Not bad.

Watched the first half, England needs to convert more of those chances.

Spot on. The game was rotten. We need to play players in form, not on reputation.

Any idea why Wembley's center area looked like someone had spilled something all over it? The grass was noticeably different in colour.

Finally got back to this.

but one thing I hadn't done was something called Gardens by the Bay.

I've seen pictures of it before. Didn't know anyone who'd actually been.

I did stop long enough to take a bad selfie, just to prove I was there.

That's just bad photoshop. Obviously superimposed.

Behind these was a network of walkways that brought you behind and above the falls.

So, exactly like Jungle Cruise, then.

Let's just say that I may have had statue envy, and move along...

Really? Why? He's pretty small.

:rolleyes1

I did consider going into the Marina Bay Sands casino, which is behind the trees above.

That building's huge!

To O the Morning Dads! World is whacked as Notre Dame continues to look like a high school team and the Ciubs look great.

2 down 9 to go.

Morning folks!

One down one to go!

37-35 Nailbiter.

Happy Sunday. A quiet first Sunday of no-vacation Fall Break. My cousin, and closest thing to a brother, had hernia surgery, and his brother came in to visit. It was good to catch up, even under the circumstances. Played tennis, went to church, and now watching Green Bay just obliterate The Giants in the First Quarter.

The Dolphins Suck.

But, you still have topless beaches. Miami always wins. :goodvibes:goodvibes

and the Cowboys don't!

Until Jerry Jones makes them start Romo. Then they are out of it. :lmao:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Had some friends over last night for turkey. I told them going in that I was trying a new recipe. Take turkey, stuff with whatever (I did bread, celery, onion, carrot, poultry seasoning) drape bacon over the whole bird. Roast for 3 hours. Last half hour, paint bacon/bird with maple syrup a few times (I used about a cup or so).
Holy crap was that good. And the gravy was outstanding.

Day got even better with the Jays sweeping Texas. Loved one guy's sign in the crowd.
"I'd rather get punched in May than knocked out in October"

'Morning all...
A joyful thanksgiving to the folks up Nourth.

Continued prayers for all that were in the path of the storm.
We were lucky that the monster stayed off shore.
At 180 miles inland it was just a gusty rain strome to us, but I may need to go down and check on my dad's propery in Garden City.
