DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Hey guys, been a while. So, whats up?

Same random nothingness as usual.

DS went to school yesterday and decided it was time to change his name. I was not impressed. He shares a name with his 9th great-grandfather, whose grandfather immigrated from St. Dunstan's Parish, West Peckham, County of Kent, in June of 1630.

What's new in your world?

Same old same old. Sitting at my desk, trying to do the work as cheaply as possible. My oldest went to school for her senior year yesterday as well. She kept texting mom *****ing about one thing or another before mom finally shut her down. The usual stuff.

My ancestor came over from Wales in 1639, but I'm not named after him.

Ugh. Flight has already been delayed twice, and Frontier will not allow us to change until they cancel the flight. Of course that is now 10pm tonight. Oh, they would let us switch but want us to pay to do that. <sigh>

Well that sux.

Senior year...not in a hurry for that. Mine are 7th and 9th. Just getting ready for the hormonal teen years.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Carry On.

And the rest of the day to you sir.

Aye Aye, skipper.

2 hours left in overcast London.

Seems more normal than all that sun you keep mentioning.

Apparently, there's 2 weeks of glorious weather coming.......the day we fly out.

That's rubbish mate. But you are still only hours from WDW.

So, when did disney raise the prices on the resort rooms to cringeworthy levels?

Just a lousy day today. One of my best friends, co-worker for over 25 years, wife had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease a bit back and is heading to Mexico for a 4 week treatment program this weekend not approved in the U.S. So got that on our minds and then to add to that, a co-worker of 16 years just let us know at a staff meeting that he has been diagnosed with liver cancer. He says they have caught it very early and he is starting aggressive treatments next week. Sorry to be a downer but thoughts and prayers for both of these individuals and their families when you get a minute - thanks.

Ugh, sorry to hear about this. I would be wearing them out over a 12 hour delay until they got me on something better than that, that's garbage.

Went out to work on the deck this morning....
Maybe I can make some headway since last time I tried, I realized I was short one 2x6....
Today I noticed I only have about 6 left of the screws I need.

<sigh>

Wow. That sucks.
Hate crappy airlines.

About 5 minutes after they built them.

Sorry to hear all that.

Almost went a whole day without rain. Well that is if you don't count the deluge this morning. And of course it is pouring right now. Hopefully no late night calls from the neighbors.

First day of school. DD is in 7th and DS in 9th. This setting an alarm thing is crazy. Would almost be enough to make me want to go back to homeschooling.

Too early for school.

I agree, WAY to early for school.

This video was from Saturday morning and this is the first time we've ever got him to smile while interacting with us. We've seen the sleeping baby smiles before but this was a pretty awesome moment.

That is great news Andy! He really is a little fighter.

I do give the kid a hard time and he deals with it well.

He better be able to handle it well or he won't survive.

Hey guys, been a while. So, whats up?

Hey Matt. Ahh, I remember those days. Senior prom, graduation pictures, decisions on what to do after high school. Seems like yesterday mine was there. She starts grad school in a couple of weeks. Enjoy the time.

That sucks. Look at it this way, at least you are not flying Delta.

So, when did disney raise the prices on the resort rooms to cringeworthy levels?

My guess is four score and seven years ago.

Just a lousy day today.

Really sorry to hear about the news. Puts things in perspective.

2nd day of school went reasonably well. DS set them straight on his name. Joined the cross country team. I think he will do well because when I asked him how it went he said terrible...someone beat him at the line.

DD joined the soccer team. Hasn't played since she was in a U-6 league but enjoyed it then.

Hoping that this is the start of better things even if we do have to set an alarm clock again.

Sorry to hear that. Prayers for all and the medical staff. Certainly puts things in perspective.

(Just about) Morning chaps, from an overcast London (there you go Wasnotafan)

Been up a 120ft crane this morning, so my job doesn't totally suck. Lovely view of the American embassy and Grovesnor Sq.

'Morning all...
Missed a few days 'round here; month-end schedule tends to do that.
Sent the young'en back to school yesterday, so the house is quiet and the fridge seems to have more in it. Still miss him. Well, his momma misses the 4-year-old actually, so for her it's basically the same either way.

DS went to school yesterday and decided it was time to change his name.
What did he choose?
Hopefully something acceptably cool like say…
Galactic Emperor Zurg (or some such contrivance).

Y’all have been in country a good while.
Best as we can figure, our kin arrived somewhere in the 1880s.
Given current rhetoric, I s’pect that numbers us among the kind of dangerous recent immigrant threats that needs to be locked up in a barbed wire camp in some desert somewhere.

Excitement galore…
Not having gals, we missed out on that type of stuff.
It’s all we can do to get our boy to call or text about anything…
For weeks at a time…

Senior year...not in a hurry for that. Mine are 7th and 9th. Just getting ready for the hormonal teen years.
Bless your heart…

We’ll be praying for you.

Sorry to be a downer but thoughts and prayers for both of these individuals and their families when you get a minute - thanks.
Sorry you have to report such things.
I’ve witness both of those conditions in my time. It just ain’t right.
We’ll be keeping all of those folks in mind.

Went out to work on the deck this morning....
Maybe I can make some headway since last time I tried, I realized I was short one 2x6....
Today I noticed I only have about 6 left of the screws I need.
So then we could categorize this as being fairly normal for a household project then?
Certainly sounds like most of the tasks I try to get started on.

Been up a 120ft crane this morning, so my job doesn't totally suck.
That’s an interesting job perk.
What are you into that brought you up to such lofty heights?

What a great night at the Olympics. Phelps and Ledecky win over rivals, two Gators win gold on the 4X200 relay and the women’s gymnastics team dominate. These ladies are like diminutive, ninja assassins. One second they would be standing in front of you and the next they would do a back flip over your head and rip out your spinal cord. All the the while smiling and waving to the crowd.

Not a fan of heights so I think I will pass. Sounds like a great view though. When we were there we did the Eye and London is a very picturesque city from up high.

Sent the young'en back to school yesterday, so the house is quiet and the fridge seems to have more in it. Still miss him. Well, his momma misses the 4-year-old actually, so for her it's basically the same either way.

Maybe he will come back home so he can go to grad school near the house.

Y’all have been in country a good while.

My Grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee, so I think I am safe. In fact, get out of my country (OK, since you are Disney fans, you can stay). Dad's side are more recent arrivals from Calabria, also around the 1880's.
