DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all...
Did ya' ever have one of those string of days where one thing after another starts breaking down and costing you money you really didn't want to be spending just now?

Yeah, I know...
First world problems.
At least I'm still here to complain about it.

Hope all y'all are doing well and getting through what ever may be troubling ya'.
May we all treat each other with respect (and at least I know I'll always find that here).
Good day gents.

Morning Guys, hope Monday wasn't too hard on anyone.

Just found out that DS has a game tonight against a team from Newfoundland. So if you are keeping count that means he will have a minimum of 8 games between today and Sunday to finish off this season. I'm guessing he will sleep all next week.

Man, I hate those weeks. I have them at work as well, when everyone comes for more money at once.

Wet/dry vote in the county today. The bootleggers in county, and the liquor store owners in the surrounding counties, are paying for "dry" votes so they don't lose their business. :sad2:

Yep. Calling roofer at lunch. Hope your recovery is going well and hope the financial hit is offset by some unexpected income.

Yup, need to replace the windshield in DW Jeep after it was hit by a rock on our way to Halifax last Friday. Crack spread from about 3 inches to 15 inches pretty quick.

Morning all. Hope everyone's having a good one.
Or if not good, then at least fair to middlin'!

Why yes.
On Monday, the vet assistant calls to tell us they need a deposit before surgery.
$1,800.

For the deposit.

I still don't know what the final tally is.
I was told between $2,500 - $3,000.

That pup better start pooping out diamonds.

That's a ton in a week.
But at that age... he'll probably thrive on playing that much.

Interesting. Brings back visions of the Dukes of Hazzard.

No moist option? It would make a great campaign t-shirt. I'm sure we could come up with a slogan.

Checkin in quickly here as the last few days before vacation at work are always like getting 10 lbs of poop into a 5 lb bag. Sorry to hear about the numerous unplanned expenses but ain't that always the case in that there is always something. We just had a $1,000 expense to fix a dent on the rear hatch of DWs car so our little group here is proving that there is always something.

Sheese...
I was rather hopping that not so many of ya' were having the same issues at the same time.
And most of them worse off that mine.

I think we could all use one of Ponzi's diamond pooping dogs right about now.

Guess I am also in on it. Won't go into the details but I haven't been on the last few days to deal with crap sandwich after crap sandwich. Not enjoying 2016 so far.

I guess we all need to just keep swimming.

Ouch and ouch.

Moist is an option in KY where only a town, winery, golf course, etc get a license but not on the ballot here. Probably because we only have one town of 2200 people, no winery, and the golf course doesn't even have a kitchen.

Happy Tuesday. It is another rainy day here, and got quite wet after lunch. Time is dragging on. Oldest dd made state swim cuts for relay team only. Youngest dd has first tennis tournament this weekend. Busy. Busy. Busy.

Yes I remember McEnroe and Lendl as well from years ago. I paid fairly close attention to tennis as a teenager, then not so much after. I've started watching again in the last couple years. A Canadian won the Wimbeldon junior boys title, so it should be interesting over the next few years.

Do you play? I played in grade school and high school to 16, when I had to stop playing to work. I wish I hadn't stopped playing. I wasn't good enough to go pro, but maybe enough for a partial college scholarship and get my certification to teach. It would be a far better career option to be teaching in Florida than sitting here right now.

Having one of those weeks - not me - but the family, which effects me. I might elaborate more later. Prayers would be appreciated.

He's young and can recover.

Good luck on the roof quote and the liquor vote.

d.

Probably wouldn't have worked at my house. We've had two cats, but when it came time for surgery options, we had them euthanized. My children took it hard both times, and one of them.made a calendar event on her account as an annual reminder.

It would go great with that beer we discussed the other day.

Congrats to the oldest and best wishes to the youngest. Prayers for the rest of you.

Roofer called, now just need to come up with the money. Could be worse though. I'm still on the green side of the sod and the family is mostly healthy so doing better than I deserve.

Thanks, and i'll pass on your words to the family.

Any chance it could be hail or some other type of weather related event so insurance could cover some of it? Part of my roof blew off with that hurricane that managed to find KY a few years back. Had to argue with insurance co as they wanted to do partial repair only. I'm no expert, but as I saw shingles in the yard and the rest of one side of the roof shingles waving like a flag, then i figures the front side might need it as well. They paid in the end (minus deductible).

I'm sure weather hasn't helped but we bought the house 15 years ago and the roof was probably 10-15 years old then so it was nearing the end of its time.

Unfortunately.

I'm putting in a request for everyone to win lotteries instead?

I think we could all use one of Ponzi's diamond pooping dogs right about now.

Was a pretty big evening for me tonight.
Took the dog out for her first poop since coming home.

No diamonds.
Very disappointing.

I've heard of $10K surgeries.
I hate to say it, but..... Let's just say I'm glad I didn't have to make that decision.

Now there's a totally new version of a Ponzi scheme... :rolleyes1

And legal, too!

All of this is crying out for a picture of daisy duke, but I'm on my phone..

Really, the only reason to watch that show.
