DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning folks. Interesting evening last night.
New addition to the household.

Good Morning and Happy Friday! With all the Disney news, DD is in a crazy mood to get a trip booked. Still haven't pulled the trigger.

We adjusted DS pitching and hitting and it seems to have taken. We changed his arm position and release point. Immediately paying dividends with 3 K's in the 7th inning for his first save of the season. Should be the starter tomorrow. We'll see how it goes for longer innings. It's significantly faster, but gives up some control. Good thing they wear helmets.:-) Hitting this week he is 5-5, 1 walk, 0 K's with 2 sacrifice flys. Scored 3 runs and drove in 5 others. DD softball season starts Monday (supposed to rain). Not looking all that promising for the team this year. DD is top pitcher, but not much after. Hitting is iffy. We do play strong defense so maybe that will be OK. I may start drinking like Coach Buttermaker.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Ton of WDW Park news yesterday from AK night time stuff (looks like some type of Jungle Book show will fill in a bit for ROL until they get that right), Soarin and Frozen Ever After opening after we are there in June to more insights on TS & SW lands. As DS told me last night, goods thing we are goin back at Christmas to see all the new stuff that opens just after our June visit :-) Have a good one guys and Happy Friday Eve!

The positive is you'll be there in June before all the crowds show up for the new stuff.:thumbsup2 Lots of positive news coming out since they delayed ROL. I think they are trying to get ont he good side of the media blitz. Hoping to get down to see some of the new stuff in the fall.

I'm not really following the playoffs this year, due mainly to the lack of a single Canadian team in it (first time that's happened in 50 years or something). But I just looked at the scores and was surprised to see so many 3-1 series leads. Not as interesting when there's not much drama in any series.

Maybe I'll start following and root for the Blackhawks?

We aren't following much either, more out of frustration that the Bruins can be playing so well and then collapse at the end and miss the playoffs. Then we keep the management in place, retain the coach, probably trade more of our good players and then wonder why we can't win. Really frustrating. Kind of hockeyed out at this point.

Have fun with the new puppy! I know our cats have been a great addition. Sat on the coach, beer in hand and watched them run, wrestle and chase each other for a good hour last night.

Is that a dog or cat? :)

Keeshond. She'll get bigger.

Thanks. Had cats all my life until I married a non-cat lover.
We have dogs now. Two! As of 14 hours ago.
The older one didn't know what to make of the puppy and kept away.

3 nights of tennis this week and still breathing and not in a hospital. :lmao:

It's pizza and beer to celebrate tonite.

The kid is hurtling toward graduation and the research projects she was working on this year are bearing fruit. The following is based on her shark bit research. I don't understand it so it must be good. A lot better than the ones she did in the 5th grade. Right now she is showing the one on the Indonesia research she will be presenting in Hawaii.

I know someone that would dive with her anytime, all you have to do is say when.]

That is some terrific work and I'm betting you are a proud dad. I would like to try to dive as well. I used to be a good swimmer, before all the fat.

Great to see so many fine Dads here on DIS. I sure would like to meet some of you dads.

Welcome. Dues are payable in dole whips, bacon, beer, or cake. You mail 800+ to me and I send to all the guys.

Good sports news. Younger dd dropped a bombshell on us and wants to stop travel basketball. She doesn't like the coach and a few players all that well. It looks like she wants to play tennis, which is great news for me.

Happy Earth Day! Do something good for the environment.

Pull the trigger.

Keeshond. She'll get bigger.

Cute little fur ball.

Nah, not proud at all.

The great thing about diving is the goal is to be weightless. So technically you weigh zero pounds in the water no matter how fat or skinny you are on the shore. Again, any time you want to come down we are up for it.

Late night last night with these late starts to NHL playoff games combined with the Hawks going into double OT - good thing they pulled it out. HAve a great weekend with the families guys!

Nice, congrats on the new addition

Congrats to DS - nice stats. Book it Dano and love the Buttermaker / Bad News Bears reference!

:thumbsup2 on both accounts

Happy Friday gents. Not a bad day overall. Closer to caught up and a co-worker made a chocolate kale cake with some of the remnants of my research planting. Very good, but anything that starts with 2 sticks of butter is off to a good start. :worship:

Meeting tomorrow and then have to make a quick run north to our DDS. Split a molar last night on a Necco wafer. :sad2: Grandma was right, getting old isn't for cowards.

Good day today. Money to pay off the IRS for 2015 got to the bank before they cashed the check. Celebrated by having lunch at an outside bar and grill. If you didn't want to dive, weather was perfect today (a bit windy).

Nice poster from the Pirate Princess Pirate! These kids have it easy these days with large format printers and Powerpoint. Back in my day we had to print the sections on papyrus we made ourselves.
...(man did I hate Georgetown)...

Still do. Just as much as I hate Indiana and Keith Smart.

Great to see so many fine Dads here on DIS. I sure would like to meet some of you dads.

Welcome aboard. I would question your judgment in wanting to join this group, but the TTA is my favorite ride so you can't be all bad.

Glad the adjustments are working out and best wishes to the offspring.

A good way to save some money and road time.

Thanks for the offer. I told her she has to call about certification, and for some reason, she is doing this weird "I don't want to talk to strangers on the phone" thing. I'm trying to get her to work thru it. Teen girls. :scared1:

:thumbsup2 on both accounts

Just found out why DW was letting me enjoy pizza and beer. MIL is joining us for dinner. :scared1::eek::scared1::eek::scared1:

True on the road time, but tennis can still be a costly sport. In my short time with the other sports, they have smaller initial start-up costs, but then it is nickel and dime (or more) for uniforms, fundraiser, travel, etc. As for the kale cake, you really need to start sharing those with the rest of us. And by the rest of us, I mean me.

I'm so sorry. If there's anything any of us can do.... you're on your own.

Insomnia kicked in big time, woke up at 3:00. UGH.

What is that? Manta?

Yep. We went on a night dive in Kona, Hawaii and a bunch of them came out to feed. Best dive I ever did.

You had papyrus? I had to use a chisel and stone tablets in school.

Ain't that a kick in the crotch. Hope you made it out of there alive.

Morning folks.
Night shift today. 1 more hour to go...

Insomnia kicked in big time, woke up at 3:00. UGH.

I have to be up... and it sucks.
But insomnia sucks more.

Yep. We went on a night dive in Kona, Hawaii and a bunch of them came out to feed. Best dive I ever did.

Now that is pretty darned cool.

You had papyrus? I had to use a chisel and stone tablets in school.

You had chisels? We scratched mud with a stick.

Morning everyone. Tennis this AM will make 4 times in a week. And, I still need to cut the weeds or grass or whatever. I'm going to start taking my meds early.

Never fails, they just can't let ya enjoy the finer things without an alterier motive

::yes::

I'm so sorry. If there's anything any of us can do.... you're on your own.

Thanks for the support.

Back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth. :lmao:

Yes, I survived. The beer helped me get thru.

You had chisels? We scratched mud with a stick.

:lmao:

While walking uphill in the snow?

What's worse than MIL stopping by for dinner?

DW took oldest dd bra shopping at Victoria Secrets this AM. While I at least didn't have to go, DW still had to text me about it.

I did make it home alive from tennis.
