DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Welcome to Monday Gents.

It was nice to watch the live stream from MK last night, certainly made me want to go back. Unfortunately I don't see that happening anytime soon.

But we are at 17 days until we head out to Miami and 20 days until our cruise. Really starting to look forward to this, watching the port webcams every day!!

Have a good one all.

Yeah, no kidding. I'm scared about this one. The first 2 weren't too bad and I seemed to be able to run on less sleep then. The past year or so, I struggle if I don't get a good night of sleep.

Uh oh. Sounds like the kiss of death right there.

I was a Gator fan yesterday.

Me too. Oh, well. Maybe somebody else will knock off the Tide.

Dec 6 today, so the DDs boots got filled with candies and chocolates from St. Nicholas.
Funny how my boot never gets filled.
Should look into that.

So what's the significance of Dec. 6?

I guess I should go ahead and post this here... I've posted in my TR thread, but we'll be adding to the family this June. We just told family that DW was pregnant on Thanksgiving. At the concert last night we had people who are acquaintances at best walking up to us and saying congratulations. Apparently, DS is pretty excited and has been telling anybody who will listen to him.

Congrats Andy!

I am quite pleased that The Star Wars Launch Pad opened the other day:worship:, By the time it's open a full week I am glad to say that I will have visited it a few times:cool1::thumbsup2 Dis Dad Club presence on opening week:dancer:. The Force is strong with this club:yoda:
Represent us well Jedi Master
Good morning!

We had DS's first school concert last night. Christmas program put on by grades K-3. I was worried that I'd need the extraction team on standby, but I've got to say... it wasn't bad. The concert was a quick half hour and the kids did a good job.

Congratulations and great to see the little guy is pumped about it!
Congratulations on knocking up your wife!
:scared1:
Feeling a bit under the weather so haven't been around for a few days. Speaking of weather, S. Florida is in the dry season. We had 5-7 inches of liquid sunshine since Thursday. Flooding in some areas with more rain expected the next few days. I think it is going to be that kind of winter. And on cue, it is pouring again.
Hope you are feeling better despite the Florida result Saturday night.

Our family was also discussing that we should be going to DaWorld during Christmas this weekend and how we miss it. Enjoy the sailing - CJ meet up?

Not sure about meeting up with CJ. We really only have Christmas Day in Miami, and I certainly wouldn't want to intrude on family time. We arrive late in the afternoon on the 24th and will be heading for the Port early on the 26th.

Top O the Mornin Dads. Feel like a one legged man in an a$$ kickin contest these days. Was able to get dining booked for grad trip with DS:
Thurs 6/2 - The Boathouse - Dinner
Fri 6/3 - The Plaza Restaurant - early dinner (we have never eaten there)
Fri 6/3 - Wishes fireworks desert party
Sun 6/5 - Tusker House - Breakfast
Mon 6/6 - Le Cellier - Dinner
Tues 6/7 - Cinderella's Royal Table - Breakfast
Also looking to get Jungle Skipper Canteen for something and though schedule for Rivers of Light is not set yet, assuming that will be running when we are there so also will look to try Tiffins at AK.

Could you see about getting rid of that wet stuff before we arrive in Miami on the 24th?

Normally, I would say yes but not this year. The El Nino is the largest seen in 50 years. Helps Florida during hurricane season (good thing) but makes winter storms more likely and intense (bad thing). Since Dec. 1, MIA recorded 8 1/2 inches of rain while normal is less than 1/2 an inch. Some areas got hit worse. Friend of mine drove his car down a flooded street and the water stalled the car. He has no idea how much that is going to cost.

I was a Gator fan yesterday. Too bad they couldn't shake things up, but not a bad season. Maybe they can get an offense for Christmas this year.

Well, it wasn't a close game. Florida got smoked. Not sure I get why Oklahoma dropped from 4 to 3 in the playoffs, but I guess it's punishment for not having a league championship game. A Clemson v Alabama championship game will be fun to watch, assuming both get there.

Me too. Oh, well. Maybe somebody else will knock off the Tide.

Hope you are feeling better despite the Florida result Saturday night.

Since our starting QB decided to make a stop at GNC, the offense is putrid. They kept the score close for most of the first half but you never felt like they were going to do anything. Minus 1 yard rushing for the 2nd and 3rd quarters. They need a QB, offensive line help, and a kicker. I don't think Florida will try a field goal in the game against UM. Still I'll take the season they had.

Since my Dad's German, I thought we'd continue the tradition.

That is kind of cool. When we are at WDW during Christmas time, I make sure to stop by Italy to see La Befana. Nice to keep traditions of your heritage going with the kids.

Happy Monday all. Damp and gray but at least it isn't snow. Possibility of hitting 60 later this week which is great for me, but bad for some of our crops that should be hardening off for winter.

Bills managed to pull it out yesterday so now the continued hope of making the playoffs continues. They haven't even been in the playoffs in my kids' lifetimes.:sad2:

That's pretty cool. And I'm sure your daughters appreciate it!

In memoriam to those that lost their lives at Pearl Harbor a few picks from our trip to the USS Arizona, July 4 2012. If you ever have the chance to go there, it is really moving.

I couldn't agree more. Nice photos. I'll toss in a couple of my own:

Happy Monday. Office Christmas party today and we ate at Moonlite BBQ. I ate so much that I actually am not hungry for dinner. That may be a first ever.

Afternoon boys.
Spent the morning/early afternoon running around but got stuff done too, so it's all good.
Dec 6 today, so the DDs boots got filled with candies and chocolates from St. Nicholas.
Funny how my boot never gets filled.
Should look into that.

St. Nicholas? Are you German or Catholic? We used to put out shoes out in the hallway in Catholic schools and we got candy after a st. Nicholas delivery.

.

You can still take me with you.

Never been to Boathouse yet, and we really like the Plaza dinner. I got a milkshake for dessert and it was great.

I may still have some eligibility left, but I'm holding out for a pro QB job. :lmao:

It sure is a nasty day. With that warm day yesterday, I'm sure to be sick soon. Not sure the Bills will make it this year, but they are more fun to watch with Taylor and McCoy and Watkins. Maybe next year.

Somebody looking for St Nicholas.....

Had a question for you guys, because we are actually flying this year, was wondering if anyone has any experience with taking a cab to a publix. What did it cost? Am I better off renting a car for a few days? Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I always rent a car now when we go Nick. To go to store, no waiting for a bus, always have a seat...

Morning men.
Only two more shifts to go then three... three! glorious days off! (Hopefully. Two for sure.)

St. Nicholas?

Nope.

Are you German or Catholic?

Yep.

We used to put out shoes out in the hallway in Catholic schools and we got candy after a st. Nicholas delivery.

Really! Huh!
My school taught religion (Christian) but was a public school.
Hadn't heard anything from the Catholic school. Pretty sure they didn't do anything.

Would love to meet up but it is going to be tough. The Pirate Princess gets in late afternoon the 23rd so things will be busy. It could happen though.

Nice. Hope to hit the Boathouse for apps and a beverage in January. Heard good reviews about it.

Good shots. I have a couple of the same pics (the flag through the opening and the plaque). It was enjoyable being there on 7/4. A Navy band did a mini concert and we got to meet a couple of survivors.

Happy Monday. Office Christmas party today and we ate at Moonlite BBQ.

Love to try Moonlite some day. Not into mutton though.

Nick, I've only taking cabs for hotel to hotel rides so I don't know about going off site. Hotel to hotel costs seemed reasonable though. You might want to check out these if you want to rent a car: http://www.wdwinfo.com/transportation/index.htm http://www.mousesavers.com/how-to-rent-a-car-at-walt-disney-world/ Alamo and National have locations there.

Hey Santa, I thought you only used a sleigh. Must be a busy time for you.

We are flying into Fort Lauderdale, arriving at 3 pm, hired a car service to get us to the Intercontinental Miami. We are there until the morning of the 26th.

It would be great to meet you in CJ but don't go out of your way; busy time and having your DD home makes it even tougher.
