DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Publix had NY strips on sale. Dinner tonight was steak, loaded baked potato, sautéed mushrooms and grilled asparagus in butter and garlic. Halfway through, the kid called. You know it is the ultimate sacrifice for your child when you put down your knife and fork to answer.

I determine teams I root against based on several criteria but the number 1 criteria is A) Is the fan base predominately Red Sox fans? ergo I will not be pulling for the Pats now or ever...after that it is B) Have you wronged my team in some capacity which are:

NCAA) UConn (Dual Champs x2)
NFL) Giants
MLB) Yankees
NHL) Devils (though starting to like the Caps too)
NBA) Whoever has most UConn players - if none, who cares?

What a day. We had an unexpected snowfall, school cancellations, and I was 10 cars back of a semi vs 4 car accident fatality. I still had to get to main campus 70 miles away, where there is no snow. Traffic got turned around and I drove the 25 miles on snow covered, country roads to get back on the parkway. (this parkway is a former toll road with only 2 enter/ exit ramps as well as the beginning and end. Arrived late to find the Internet down on campus. I managed to salvage the day. I'm having a double double double double bourbon tonite..

Little prevents me from eating, including a phone call. Menu sounded good.

I just got back from playing racketball with some coworkers. On top of an intense lifting day yesterday I am sore. Going to eat a quick lunch and lay down and sneek in a nap before the kids get home.

Tell me about it. I wear different ace Wraps on my foot, knee, and wrist to play tennis. Then, it is home for ibuprofen, ice, and occasional heating pad to the back. It takes me a day to recover.

Popped on to try and catch up a bit, gave up....:rotfl2: I'm sure the pearls of wisdom can be missed.:rolleyes1

Pearls? Nuggets? We drop them all here.

It should be a good game. I know the Colts have never won at Foxboro, but this a different team. I'm hoping for a close game, unless Pagano unleashes the horses and wants to run up the score, lol

I'm cheering for the Colts with you nemesis.

You may wan to see if they'll let you take one of those there electric vehicles.
:

I'm hoping for the Segway.

Good Morning fellow dads, I'm excited to report that, this was the last wake up before waking up at DL! Well unless I fall asleep at work or on the plane. It'll be DDs first long flight so we are packing anything we can think of to keep her busy.

I hope everyone is doing well! Looking forward to meeting a few of y'all this week.
Have fun! the cold weather is making me yearn for WDW more than usual. Make sure to post photos so that I can enjoy the World vicariously!

Having severe Disney withdrawal syndrome right now. Skies are overcast and it is drizzling. Not a "Come to Florida" touristy picture. Need to start planning for the next trips. Thinking Food and Wine and of course Marathon Weekend. 2015 is not going to be the Disney intensive year 2014 was.

The pass is highly restrictive, no weekends and a lot of blackout dates. You basically can't use it from June to August, the last half of December and of course major holidays. Still, it works for us and is cheaper than the current 4 day pass promotion. I think last year I got about 15-20 days on the pass which works out to a cheap per day admission.

I wish I could just pop in to say hello to Mickey. Can't really complain though. I realize I have it better than most Disney fans.
You could complain but we would just think you are a big baby.

Thanks. Not sure the chaos is gone yet between getting one through college and the other knucklehead ready to choose / go to college. All I say is take it all in, laugh at the small stuff, do the best you can and then just let 'em go be themselves.
Amen, brother.

Morning everyone. Had a business dinner last night and we went to a new pub downtown. They have 50 beers on tap. One of co workers ordered a fruit beer and it was served in a little wine looking glass, WTH??? All of their servings were quite small like 6-12 oz. I kept my man card by ordering a Strong Arrogant ******* Ale in a 22oz bomber. It was pretty good. 80% of what they offered was light colored beers, only 4 darks.
The little wine looking glass is a goblet\chalice\snifter. It's often used with craft beers.

Don't say that I never passed along something useful. :lmao:

I will be a Colts fan that night. As I mentioned to the DisDads at the Tambu Lounge during the last game, I want to see Bellichick cry.

I knew you were a good man!!

But he won't cry, he doesn't have a soul.
Ditto. I like to see quality young QBs get that elusive title. It pains me to see Marino without a ring. So if Luck gets it now, no one questions his legitimacy later on.

I hate Bellichick and agree with Norm. There's something about a guy who couldn't win crap in Cleveland but it heralded as such a tremendous coach in NE. Something shady about that. I sometimes have nightmares that Bellicheater coaches the rat birds <shivers in disgust>.

No Brady, you can hate on him all you want, but he's a player. I respect the hell out of that guy.

Nice Dad work. If it were me, the conversation would have gone like this. "Hi, honey. Is everything okay? It is? Ok, great. Let me call you right back."

Glad you made it home safe, bud Enjoy the well deserved drink.

had a long and interesting day. Let's start with my day at about 7:20 AM when my boss called my cell phone. It's never good when the conversation at that time of the day starts with
"Did you see my e-mail?"
Me: "No."
Him: "Well, I know you have a lot on your plate and you don't have much free time..."

I am now running a SWAT team to fix an app that has been having pervasive issues for some time. Aside from getting to use the term SWAT, there's nothing fun about this!:lmao:

Wife mad e a great meatloaf tonight spiced up with a little BBQ sauce and A1, then went to my oldest DDs orchestra concert. The talent that these 10 and 11 year old kids have is amazing.

I also managed to get my 2nd run in for my C25K program. I am trying to keep it simple and not take off for more than 2 days. Hopefully the myriad of DISDad runners will help keep me motivated!

I hate those phone calls :(

Two words: speakerphone.

I guess that's actually 3 words.

Morning Guys, welcome to Friday!

Nobody wins in Cleveland.

COWBOYS!!

Them’s fighting words!

Sorry, long term dislike. Even longer than the Jets.

I get this. I've got a complex list of teams I cheer for:

Well thought out. How the heck are you and the family?

I'd love to come visit, but I'm preparing for Sunday's AFC Championship game. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Too bad. Good weather, good food and I promise good beer. Invitation remains open though.

Time to get rid of the mutt CJ. ::yes::

Unfortunately, the little bast*** has wormed his way into a permanent residency. If the kid moves off campus next year, she gets to bring him to NJ. Once she is out of school, the dog goes wherever she goes.

Naturally, my loyalties lie with Philadelphia teams...

Sorry about that. I thought I had it bad.

...NBA) Whoever has most UConn players - if none, who cares?

I use that criteria a lot. Whatever team has prominent Gators on the roster I cheer for them and their team.

Little prevents me from eating, including a phone call. Menu sounded good.

Sorry to hear about the traveling issues Norm.

Full disclosure: A lot of the conversation on my side sounded like, mmphh, emmph, frmmph due to chewing.

Afternoon gents. Dang day job - this is two days in a row I can't get here in the morning :crazy2: Was able to book next day of Dining for DL trip, Tuesday March 17 :shamrock:
Breakfast - Carmnation Cafe
Dinner - WOC Dining package Wine Country Trattoria
Only have one left to book for Fantasmic Dining package at River Bell Terrace. This restaurant has been there since DL opened and is where Walt ate breakfast on Sunday mornings. We are gonna hit here for bkfst one day as well but it is QS for that meal. Also gonna hit Golden Horseshoe as that is also an original park restaurant but a QS as well.

Have a good weekend with the kids hoops and NFL teams.

I use a snifter for Kentucky Bourbon Ale and it does improve the taste compared to using a regular glass.

Feel your pain my friend. Often for me it's an e-mail as we have global locations so we can often start hte day before leaving the house with a stinky to start the day.
Happy Friday guys!

Sure, keep telling yourself that but you already know that where she goes won't allow dogs, yada yada yada........................

Let me know how that works out for you...

Rule number 1: No dogs allowed, no living off campus. If I have the dog next year, she is living in a dorm. Foot firmly planted on the floor.
Ya, o.k. if you say so :lmao: Remember, my DD is about the same age a yours :lmao:

Saw something interesting on Diners, Drive ins and Dives last night. Bacon donuts. A vanilla glazed donut (glazed on both sides) with one side dipped in crunchy bacon bits. I understand the American Heart association is applying to the Geneva Convention folks to have it banned.

Evening gents. What is everyone drinking tonight?

Two words: speakerphone.
I guess that's actually 3 words.

Speakerphone is one word.

Sorry to hear about the traveling issues Norm.
.

Thanks. A good night sleep made it a lot better.

I use a snifter for Kentucky Bourbon Ale and it does improve the taste compared to using a regular glass.
.....

I'll pour a glass and let it sit on the table for awhile. It smells so good.

Is it 5pm yet???

Pirate. Don't wait. Drink up.

Agreed. Brady is a great QB. It makes me wonder how many other QBs have been stuck on their team benches, being a backup because the coach had no ability to view talent.

Bacon donuts. Brilliant.
