DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all. Another boring day of work followed by tennis tonight. Haven't played two consecutive days in a long while, so this should be interesting.

Running around the last couple of days so haven't caught up here yet. Yesterday, we decided to head to the Keys for the day to eat at my all time favorite breakfast place and then visit a bartender we like at the Tiki Bar. A day of food, sun and pool time. Sucks to be a tour guide.

Monday, I cooked this. Hope it meets with the approval of Norm and the other dads from real BBQ states. Have to tell you, it was good.
.

More life of CJ.

That chicken did look good, but to be sure, cook another and ship it to me for inspection. :lmao:

Where's the bkfst place, cj? I'm toying with the thought of heading down to the keys. Never been.

Man that looks good. Was there a beer can stuffed up inside it?

Haven't played two consecutive days in a long while, so this should be interesting.

I foresee soreness in your future.

Another work day here as well. In the office for the morning, trade show in the afternoon and then on the road for a presentation this evening.

Good luck with the tennis. I found out yesterday which team I had been drafted by for this season's soccer. First game on April 24th.

-I did yoga(the DDP version, not the ommmmmmmmmmm version) this morning for the first time in a week and my shoulders feel like they're about to drop through the floor.

-Fully intended to stay up to watch Kobe's final game last night, and I did, but around the 3rd quarter I found myself asking why I was doing it, so I turned it off and went to bed. And OF COURSE he explodes and goes out in style. Hate that I missed it.

-24 hours of healthy eating until my weigh-in tomorrow, and then I am straight-up murdering the new "hot chicken" place here in town(no, not KFC. A legit hot chicken place).

That it does. I've been on Day 7 of a 30 day program for about 12 days now.

That's why I always liked tennis. If I do have to run, it is only a few steps and I can end the point whenever I choose, which is usually if I have to run more than a few steps.

What is DDP yoga?

What is DDP yoga?

Diamond Dallas Page. Yes, the former pro wrestler. I saw a feature on the news about it a few years ago, and ordered the DVD. It's like cardio-yoga. I do it 3-4 times a week, still at the basic level, but I'm seeing results(pounds lost, etc.)

He turned to yoga to help deal with injuries late in his career, and has turned it into a huge business venture. It's good stuff. Each workout is between 20-30 minutes or so.

I remember DDP with the diamond cutter and the BAM! I didn't know he did a yoga tape.

DW joined our new Planet Fitness and has been dragging me. I'm still fat, but I do enjoy the view of women in their yoga pants.

Gents,

Drove the Brit to the airport at 5am this morning. He is meeting friends to dive with the whale shark at the Georgia Aquarium. I passed because it wasn't worth the $ to fly to Atlanta for the day and then drive back down here. Spent the day catching up on work and relaxing. They head down and we are meeting up for three days in the Keys starting Saturday.

-Spending my spring juggling three sports schedules, a yard that is the saddest in the neighborhood, and trying to get into some semblance of health(down 45 pounds so far).

Welcome back and big congrats on the lost pounds.

How does everyone else handle letting the kids spend some money, and limiting what they can spend, and make it easy so dad doesn't have to have a sharpie and a zillion gift cards in his wallet??

When she was younger, she had "earned" money and sometimes she would get a bonus gift or two. Now she is on her own and would rather spend our budget going to places like afternoon tea or the California Grill.

That chicken did look good, but to be sure, cook another and ship it to me for inspection. :lmao:

Already done, check your mailbox.

Where's the bkfst place, cj? I'm toying with the thought of heading down to the keys. Never been.

It is called Doc's at mile marker 100, on the gulf side, across the street from a big Divers Direct store. Family owned place. I challenge anyone to leave there feeling hungry. I like their Eggs Benedict and huevos rancheros and they also have a killer skillet. Let me know if you do head down and maybe I can offer some tips and hints.

Man that looks good. Was there a beer can stuffed up inside it?

Yep. Bird and beer can seasoned with onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and pepper. (found out too late, there was no cayenne in the house)

I think there are websites where you can do that, plus you could drink beer while browsing.

Back from the dead....here to re-introduce myself. Didn't realize it's been 18 months since I posted, but life gets in the way, I guess.

-Todd. Kentucky. Two girls, 11 and 7.

-My occupation? It's still complicated.

-Kentucky basketball, Cleveland Indians baseball. Jason Day.

-Next Disney trip? Summer of 2017, first time to Disneyland. Is it too early to start researching snack options? Hope not.

Glad to be back in your company, gentlemen.

Welcome back! I think you better send your dues around in penance for slacking.

Mine are a bit older but they get their own gift cards and are responsible for keeping track of them

Better than then the other way around.

....Already done, check your mailbox.

I hope you sent 800+ and Norm can make some bacon wrapped green beans as well to send the rest of us.

Thanks cj. If and when we figure out what/when/if I'll let you know.

Morning Gents!

Beautiful Friday morning up here with a forecast to hit temps in the low 50F to and throughout the weekend. You can tell because even though in is in the high 30F now people are waling around in t-shirts and shorts.

Have a good one.

:wave2: Happy Friday! Sports dominated weekend with 3 hoop games, 2 baseball games, a baseball BBQ and trying to find a way to get to the Red Sox game on Monday. I have tickets, but the schedule is not cooperating. Pixie dust to all!

Tell her I am alive and well living in Baltimore and staying warm in the penguin sweatshirt her Dad give me. Sorry about your soxs today, wait, no I'm not.
ac109c676427ab7bb3308ba3aeaac4fb.jpg

OK, I told her you would be posting penguins again soon. Yeah, it's going to be a rough season for us Red Sox fans I think. A lot of younger guys so inconsistency is expected, A panda that is just as rolly polly as the ones in the zoo, a struggling pitching staff and a manager that is on the hot seat. Should be a crazy ride. The good thing is Jordan's Furniture has offered free stuff if the Sox and Yankees play each other in the ALCS. You know the chances of that happening, right?

Baltimore was projected to be down from the last couple seasons. Good start for them. If I find my way to Baltimore for a game, you in? They call it Fenway south you know. Tickets are cheaper, parking is cheaper and it takes about the same amount of time to get into and out of the game.:confused3:sad2::sad2: Really sucks that I can get on a plane, fly to Baltimore, take a taxi to the stadium and it costs less than going to a Red Sox game. Now with the variable ticket pricing, the $$ to see any decent team went up even more.

So as my trip date gets nearer, I am thinking of tchotchke's that the kids will want to buy, and I am thinking of steering them to certain things that might be fun/cool. Is there a place to find some of the prices for some of the items out there? Like at Epcot, there is that pick a pearl thing, never done it, never really thought of doing it, but with three daughters I am sure one of them might want to do it.

We usually get Disney gift cards and then give each daughter the gift cards throughout the trip, so that they have their own money. This year, the wife and I were talking, and we think we are going to let them use their magic bands to buy things, and then we will pay them off with the gift cards. And actually, can we 'load' the gift cards onto our account when we first get to Disney so I don't have to worry about going to the front desk and having them load them after we buy things.

How does everyone else handle letting the kids spend some money, and limiting what they can spend, and make it easy so dad doesn't have to have a sharpie and a zillion gift cards in his wallet??

We used to give them a certain amount of $$ for each trip and they could buy anything after day 3 that they wanted. We didn't allow them to buy until day 3, unless it was a park related thing and we were not going back to that park. Last trip, we just let them charge on the bands. They were required to ask permission on souvenirs.

I don't think you can load the gift cards onto the account. At least we couldn't last year. You need to have charges on the account to offset to amounts prior to payment.

Afternoon all. Back to work after vacation and sick days, well a 1/2 day. It felt good to escape the house.

Remind me where from on KY? It's been 18 months. There are three of us from KY.

looks like you avoided getting the strep. Congrats! Typically any illness runs through our house no matter how small.

3? all from Kentucky? We'll have to start screening new members.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thanks for the tip. Taking note for some unplanned trip way in the distant future.

Wow, that's pretty bad. Baltimore is a great place to watch a game, though. Such a nice ballpark.

Morning all. Getting the oil changed in the car and wondering where I can get some of my body parts changed. I hurt the top of my foot last night (not sure how, didn't turn an ankle) and I'm hobbling around. I need some of that HGH or whatever else us out there.

I think there are websites where you can do that, plus you could drink beer while browsing.

But, those butts aren't in 3D. :lmao:

And, the GIFs aren't the same screen size. :rotfl:

I hope you sent 800+ and Norm can make some bacon wrapped green beans as well to send the rest of us.

That's a lot of green beans to roll. Maybe you can get a grant to hire some people to roll them?

:wave2: start screening new members.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Have fun with sports weekend. You can screen for new members, but you're still stuck with the old ones. :lmao:

Morning all. Another boring day of work followed by tennis tonight. Haven't played two consecutive days in a long while, so this should be interesting.

Just sit in the tub of ice with the beer when your done. Kill 2 birds as they say. Ice up and you won't have to move to get another beer.:rotfl::rotfl:

I found out yesterday which team I had been drafted by for this season's soccer. First game on April 24th.

You have soccer drafts? Must be serious. I can be your agent, we'll demand higher beer wages and more playing time!

Safe travels.

Hey, I know what that's like. I've been repeating week 1 of Couch to 5K for about 8 months.

Yeah, that couch training can be difficult.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: DD and I are planning to do the 5K on marathon weekend if we can get registered. You can join us if you like and then you have until January to get off the couch.:thumbsup2

That's why I always liked tennis. If I do have to run, it is only a few steps and I can end the point whenever I choose, which is usually if I have to run more than a few steps.

The key is to make your opponent run and have them return the ball to the middle of the court. That way you can minimize the effort.:thumbsup2 I tried playing tennis once. I wasn't very good at it.:scared:

Sounds like a busy few days. You may want to rest up so you don't overdo it.:rolleyes1 Tell the tiger I said hello.:lmao: And have one of those tropical drinks for me.:drinking1

In the 40's here. Tried the shorts yesterday, still a little chilly. Supposed to get to the 70's by Monday for Marathon day.

That's how we know we are getting old. Either we hurt something that makes no sense at all and should not hurt or we hurt something and forgot until the pain reminds us. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Wait.....Are we in Colorado. A grant to roll what?:eek:
