Why, what have you heard? Are you staying out of trouble?
Why, what have you heard? Are you staying out of trouble?
Went Friday night, that was the first performance DD was in, and will be there again today, and it went well
I remember those days. Mine were like that too.She also knows her choreography as well. I can see some of the other kids looking to her to see what they are supposed to be doing.
They're always hilarious.Today I'll get to see the 'Littles' dance. The littles are the wee small ones, kindergarten age kids. The ones where them dancing doesn't matter, they just look cute in their outfits on stage.
Nice shot, though. Here's one of the pictures I took during the performance Friday night. I almost missed it, that's why it isn't centered.
We work 8 hour shifts. But it's pretty common to be asked to come in either 4 hours early or stay 4 hours late. We're too short staffed. Training 3 guys right now with another 2 in the fall or spring supposedly.Hate those long shifts, the longest in my job is only 10. Are all of your shifts 12 hours, or do you have 8 hour shifts as well?
I didn't use flash backstage because I wanted to be as unposed and natural as possible. And I say "I would have missed something," because I would have had to change lenses, added a flash and diffuser and the go and take pictures. Sure, I could have, but I would have missed some of the dances, not something I wanted to do. There's also the problem in that the dancers use the auditorium to get ready during rehearsals, and using flash, even pointed away from the stage, wouldn't have been appreciated by the director.
Pretty sure most are... but loss of property for sure.WOW! Hope all are ok
I knew it! That was the same movie scene, from the same M*A*S*H episode that popped into my head when I read that.
Last time I went through it, I wound up training my trainer more than the other way around!I always hated going through training because 1) I hated not knowing what I was going, and 2) I hated having to take someone away from their job, so I'm sure the trainee hated the training part as well.
I love dance photography, but the problem with shooting dance is that I don't know the choreography, so I tend to shoot a lot of pictures knowing that not all of them are keepers.
Had mine for over 20 years and still going strong.Lots of lawnmowers being sold after the end of no mow May.
Harrumph. What's good about it?
Hey fellas! Just checking in to say hi.
I just realized that my vacation is just over a week away. It's kind of snuck up on us this year. Probably because it's coming immediately at the end of the school year.
About a week and a half in Southern California. My son just graduated high school, so this is kind of his celebration. It includes everything he loves--national parks, Disneyland, and a lot of baseball. What's planned for this year?
Howdy
Best kind. All of a sudden it's "Hey! I'm on vacation!"I just realized that my vacation is just over a week away. It's kind of snuck up on us this year. Probably because it's coming immediately at the end of the school year.
Who dis?Howdy
Morning all. Busy day with errands today.
Sure beats the heck out of working, though.
Except I do have a work Teams meeting in an hour. At first I was "No way in heck am I doing that."
Then I was told that they're paying overtime for it. So, I'll log in, say "Here" at the roll call... and promptly ignore it.
I remember those days. Mine were like that too.
They're always hilarious.
Every year there was at least one that would wave to their parents, one that would be showing another how to do the dance and one that would pee on stage.
Nice shot, though.

I remember that. Eventually, though, I'd see it enough (multiple competitions) that I knew the choreography.
Where to this time, Mark?Hey fellas! Just checking in to say hi.

That was quick…Where to this time, Mark?
You just surfacing for air?Howdy
As long as I remember to get on the plane!Best kind. All of a sudden it's "Hey! I'm on vacation!"
Dang. Wish I'd thought of that when my DDs were younger. The DD's been out of school since last Friday, and been spending it at the in-law's house
Atta boy! Do your bit to get paid the overtime but nothing more.
You think so? I never noticed it until much later. They've got it down to a science. Kids come off, lights go down, teacher dashes out with a mop, cleans up and off stage. Next group goes on, lights, action.Yes to all but peeing onstage.
I have mixed feelings about it. I like the extra income... but am sure getting burned out.Ah, got it. Hopefully those new guys will be able to alleviate some of the OT for you guys.
I had various reasons for being backstage. Either I was dancing too, or, at recitals, I was working.I see what you're saying. I didn't actually get backstage, wanted to, but didn't. I was giving specific permission saying I could, and didn't want to just assume and start walking around backstage, so I didn't. Maybe next time.
Love when that happens. I had that happen last year when I was training for my current job. I had learned several things that the trainer didn't know, so it was a nice feeling knowing that I taught that person something.
This is both accurate... and tragic.
