She Who Must Be Obeyed
Good point...I think I still would want to go and see all the "beads".
You bet'chem Red Rider. And of course, you just happen to take advantage of it.
Will have to remember to do so.If you ever come up this way to see the Constitution, let me know and we'll have a meet up.

OK I know I teased that there'd be more boring ship pictures (and there will be), but for now lets change the topic for a moment.
How about... The Dead

Before leaving Nola for Mobile, we wanted to see one of the more iconic spots in the city.
Welcome to St Louis Cemetery No1

There are three of them, but this is the oldest and most famous

At one time it was on the outskirts of the city in the swampy area. Which is also why all the tombs are above ground; a berried coffin would simply float to the top otherwise. This also explains whats happening here...

Not the decoration on that one tomb, but rather why the bottom row is mostly under ground. The whole thing, like New Orleans itself, is slowly sinking.
The decorations there though are striking, so here's a closer look

I don't know all the significance of each talisman, but I know it's Voodoo related. That much misrepresented mix of Spiritualism and Catholicism.
Actually, Voodoo is also one of the reasons, this spot is a particularly popular attraction. It is said that Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau can be found here, and the continuous desecration and vandalism that fact caused lead the dioceses to close the cemetery to the public unless you're accompanied by a guide.
You can also find the currently empty tomb (we think it's empty at least) that Nicolas Cage acquired for his future "living" quarters, if you're interested in such. As a student of history though, I thought this one was more interesting (and I honestly didn't know it was there before hand)...

Each of these reliquaries generally holds dozens if not scores of family's remains. After a body is interred, it is left undisturbed in the grave for a period of one year and one day. At that point, the remains may be pushed to the back of the tomb, leaving room for another body to be interred. Other families prefer to collect the remains, placing them in a muslin bag and lining the edges with them. Space may be currently limited to about one city block, but day to day, there are more folks mingling here then there are on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras...

You say that knowing I can't show up on your doorstep.
Clever.
Better than rivaling “Boston’s Great Molasses Flood of 1919”
Indeed. As part of the Senior Deputy Mayor Role, I can nominate 10 people to receive a 2x2 brick each.
All you guys need to do is cover the postage, packing and various administrative charges. Don't worry if the paperwork looks like Bourbon Stockist reciepts, that's just a computer error.
Just let me know what colour Brick you want, send over your $40 US, and I will make it happen.
It pays to know people, right? You're welcome.
Whelp... SWMBO has over time trained the dogs to expect food whenever she eats. The little one barks shrilly now, incessantly when she does. Guess my days of getting any sleep at all are gone. Sooooo happy she's trained her like that.
All good. I am one of the weird ones that actually likes learning new things.

Nice shots. I remember trying to tour that years ago but our Freedom Trail walk got cut short due to rain.
Do you need to borrow my taser?
Congratulations! Increase in LEGO discounts?Afternoon fellas from a sunny and bright mother country.
Apparently my particular brand of nonsense has been recognised by the overlords, as I am now another foot up the greasy pole. Just negotiating dough.
Anyways, enough of such tomfoolery.
Have a great day chaps.
Best of luckMorning all. Another interview scheduled for Friday, this time with a former employer that I did PRN work for a decade ago. They said I had to wear a mask, but didn't mention any hazmat suit cleanings.
Keep 'em coming, those are great shots. Thanks, but you shouldn’t a done gone and said that…Now you’ll have to deal with even more pictures.
The frigate that you see on up the way is HMCS Charlottetown; the Canadian Navy’s contribution to the festivities.
Well then you don't want to know what just got announced up here.More science has hit KY with more lockdowns. The best one is only a total of 8 people are allowed inside a house at Thanksgiving. KY has declared war on Octomom.
Nope. And all this learning comes in handy when you run into a trivia contest.
Nice one mate. Although I think they have a bit of work to do. Number 14 is good, Declan needs to form an M, 10 needs to form a C and number 2 is totally off. He should be in the line forming an A.
Cool! I like cemeteries, especially ones with some history to them. I don't often visit them, but did see the one in Halifax where over 100 Titanic victims are buried.Welcome to St Louis Cemetery No1
Huh. Wasn't expecting that. Not the decoration on that one tomb, but rather why the bottom row is mostly under ground. The whole thing, like New Orleans itself, is slowly sinking.

Had no idea. Interesting Wiki read.As a student of history though, I thought this one was more interesting (and I honestly didn't know it was there before hand)...
yesDo you need to borrow my taser?
Who knew they were performing a public service???And you all thought those photos were stupid!
Witch!
As a Canadian, I take offense at this. We do not have any ships that can carry an aircraft, so this photo is patently untrue!
It's a bit like the business cycle...So then they'll all be buried...but then they'll come back up....I sense a neverending cycle here.
That one is a bit of an odd duck, to be sure. With him, I wouldn't have been shocked if he was already living there.
Recognized that section before reading your ccaption.
One of our Supreme Court's (and nation's ) more catastrophic self-inflicted wounds.Had no idea. Interesting Wiki read.
Do you need to borrow my taser?
This could get interesting
Y'all use to...As a Canadian, I take offense at this. We do not have any ships that can carry an aircraft, so this photo is patently untrue!
Still... it's nice to dream that we could have something like that.
Was a pretty sobering experience.Recognized that section before reading your ccaption.
(another ship related thing... can't help it)
Not a bad plan... just not the result they hoped for.One of our Supreme Court's (and nation's ) more catastrophic self-inflicted wounds.
How is it I didn’t know we had freaking carriers????Y'all use to...
Maggie and Bonnie
(and the Warrior for a short spell before that)
Nope.
Brain like a sieve. I like learning... but retaining is another story.

What goes down, may come back up.
With emphasis on the word "may".
On days like that, I always think it's better than digging ditches. Which I've actually (sort of) done. I had to dig a 6'x6'x3' hole for a concrete footing. In clay. Took a day and a half of straight digging. Not a ton of fun.Well, yesterday was even more of a bore than the day before...if that was even possible.
That's pretty good, I'd think.I had heard that we have a a variance of .01% on $1.5 million worth of inventory....not bad considering.
Erk! Gonna make your studies interesting! That happens to me quite a bit as well, except it happens with information that I really, Really REALLY need to remember....like reading for a class/course I'm taking. Like now.![]()
Yup. Couldn't have been pleasant.Wow...that's pretty cool...and sobering. Makes you think about those people and what they were thinking when the boat was going down. (shudders at the thought)
Overt amounts of bravado just aren't a major part of Canadian culture, possibly? How is it I didn’t know we had freaking carriers????
Same problem. That happens to me quite a bit as well, except it happens with information that I really, Really REALLY need to remember....like reading for a class/course I'm taking. Like now.![]()
A good pilot flying a VTOL air-frame could pull it off.I would like to see one of you navy pilots make a landing like that.
Not so sure...Thank goodness spring is right around the corner!
No?
Hello?
A Spanish one?having a Grand Inquisitor show up at your door.
Morning boys, start of my 26+hours stretch started with shoveling the driveway this morning.

But it's mundane things like where are the car keys or my glasses for that matter. If I don't commit the day to day things to routine (or Lord forbid, deviate from that routine), I generally end up completely off kilter.
This would suit me just fine. As much as I love eating my Thanksgiving meal, I'd love to have a day of just hanging out watching movies with no family obligations to worry about...except for the immediate DW and DD.
Yeah, sorry buddy, the retirement board put a nix on that
Good point...
(so to speak)
Well then you don't want to know what just got announced up here.
Morning, Gents! Well, yesterday was even more of a bore than the day before...if that was even possible. I should have taken advantage and done some studying for my medical coding, could you imagine the amount of reading I'd get done? But didn't want to raise suspicions that I was going to leave anytime soon, and I want the full-time job if they offer it to me, so I kept my books in my bag. Instead I surfed the internet a lot yesterday as well as chatted with people. I think I heard by the end of yesterday that they were close to finishing up. I had heard that we have a a variance of .01% on $1.5 million worth of inventory....not bad considering. And I think the bean counters were happy with that number. So I'm thinking we can get back to work today...which would be nice since today's Friday and I want the day go by quickly. Well, Gents, that's all I have. Have a good day, and we'll chat throughout.
