DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Folklorama is the world's largest and longest-running multicultural festival.
It's in its 50th year, runs for two weeks and last year had over 500,000 visitors.
Huh...I had never heard of it. Looks like a good time. Kind of like World Showcase, but more countries.

First day of school for DD this year.
It's nearly a month before our school starts up...after Labour day.
We don't get much summer up here, so it would be a shame to waste half the summer in a classroom.

We thought since our son is so young we would take him their first since it's on a smaller scale and might be easier for him.... and when I say him I really mean us. Thanks for the welcome!
That sounds like a good plan. To be honest, I avoided WDW when my daughter was very young. we waited until she was 3 1/2 before taking her. And we also brought my parents to help out. They kept her occupied and took her back to the hotel in the afternoon for breaks. My wife and I stayed in the parks with our older daughter.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Spent time with DD & SIL last night before they head back to DC this morning. They spent some time looking and homes & neighborhoods as their plan is to come back home in a couple years once his Navy gig is up. That obviously makes us happy, especially DW who ended the night with the typical crying her eyes out saying goodbye. DS heads back to school next Friday so before you know it the place will be back to the empty nester routine.
I have a few years (I think?) before my oldest DD leaves, but I can imagine the tears from my wife.
Now that I'm in the think of it, I really look forward to certain aspects of an empty nest. But I know once it happens, I'll change my mind a little.

What'd I miss? On second thought, don't answer that.
We solved the Mid-East peace problem.
We also solved the plastic pollution problem..no more paper straws. You're welcome.

Morning all. My face is peeling from all the sun this weekend, and I just want to scratch off all the skin. Ugh.

same here,it takes my mind off real world issues and puts me in my "happy space".

::yes::

Howdy ya'll!

My name is Jeff. I'm new to the thread and to the disboards. I was referred here by Zmack and after reading the criteria for the Disney Dads Club I'm excited to join in! This is the perfect place for me and I'm excited about getting to know other Disney Dads out there! I'm glad this place exists!

A little bit about myself: I'm 33 y/o and I live in Fort Worth, TX. I've been married for 4 years and we have an 18 month old (born Jan 2018) boy named Benjamin. Our next trip is actually in October at Disneyland. This will be Ben's first Disneyland trip so we're excited! Next year we are taking him to WDW for his first trip so we're excited about that as well! Also, any advice any other Disney Dads out there have for going with a Toddler would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome. Dues are payable in dole whip, beer, bourbon, or bacon. You send 862 portions to me, and I ship to all the guys. Don't worry, it's a fool proof plan.

We've never been to DL, but plan to once our kids are out of the house. We went when ours were 3 & 15 months. We did the park in the morning, nap in the afternoon, and back to the park in the evening. We tried to keep them out of the hottest part of the day and go slower at their pace.

Morning all...

Need more sleep. Won't get it.
Went to Germany a few days ago and going to Egypt tonight. Next week will be Mexico. Not sure what else.

I can do 16 countries in one day. Not sure what the hype is. :lmao:

It does sound interesting. Is there food? shows?

First day of school for DD this year. Only 3 more to go. I told her she needs to start thinking about a plan for her life. It was a little weird as DS wasn't with her for the first time. He will start college/high school in two weeks. Doing his Sr. year at the local college rather than waste the time in the high school. He is planning on enlisting in the Air Force after graduation and some college credit will give him his first stripe sooner along with more pay. Hopefully it won't turn into a "best laid plans of mice and men..." scenario.

My youngest is planning the HS/college track. My oldest still has no clue.

Good news that they are looking to be back around you all. I can't get the crying thing yet as I threw a party when they went back to school today. I'm hoping teenager #2 will be easier.

went to Disneyland for the first time in 2015, proposed to the now wifey
Nice move. My wife and I did DL in 2015 as well, it was a no kids trip. Loved seeing the "original" park.

Need to update my address now that we bought the house. I'm think the last 200 or so portions I was entitled got lost on their way here.

Every pavilion has both.

You were gone?

I missed you too.

We also solved the plastic pollution problem..no more paper straws. You're welcome.

We solved the Mid-East peace problem.

Welcome back.

Wow, you guys are efficient. If I can go on vacation the rest of the year, can you get the rest of the world's problems solved?

We'll have to start calling you Freddy.

Hey guys! I'm back after two weeks in the Pacific Northwest. I won't lie and say it's great to be back at work, but at least I can start saving for the next vacation.

What'd I miss? On second thought, don't answer that.

Welcome back Mark!!! Did see any moose?

:rotfl2: Dole, Whip, Beer, Bourbon, Bacon... throw in a couple turkey legs and some churros and you can count me in! Although I don't know how long 862 portions will last in my possession so I can't guarantee how many will or won't get to you.

DL is fun. It's on a much smaller scale, not nearly as much to do as WDW, but its manageable, has unique to DL attractions and the SoCal weather is pretty bomb.

Definitely! Everybody's gotta see the original at least once.

All of our usual nuggets of wisdom. I see you are only 1 state short of visiting them all. Congratulations.

I sent 100% of the ones I received to the addresses I had.

Way better looking than me.

And another DVC resort for us to stay in.

We also determined that the Eagles suck.

That's ok, I wasn't expecting you guys to get everything right. You got the important stuff, and that's all that matters.

I see you are only 1 state short of visiting them all. Congratulations.

Thanks! Hoping to hit 50 next summer.

Afternoon chaps from a overcast London. Been a bit all over the place with work, so under the cosh a bit, just doin' a drive by :car:

I trust all is well with the crew, Beers, Bacon, Dole Whips, Vitamin R, etc for whatever situation you find ya'self in.
Welcome to the new guys.

One more thing.
The Eagles really do suck.
