DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
August in Appalachia has been fall-like already. No complaints from me. It will probably get hot soon though as the kids start school on Wednesday.

Same here. We start tomorrow. I see a glorious sick day home without either one of them here.

I've heard of it. Next time I'm through KY, I'll have to make a pit stop.

It's about 90 minutes from my house. It's not Disney, but it's worth it if you've never been.

Morning guys.

Back on the mike again this afternoon for two of the 15U games. Called 3 of the 17U games yesterday, that was about 6 hours of talking to myself.

Have a good one all.

Just don't answer yourself?

The wheels have already started turning for next trip. I had plenty of time to think about it while sitting 2.5 hours at the gate waiting in the plane to take off.

I enjoy planning and talking about planning the trip. DW wishes I would shuddup.

Howdy ya'll!

My name is Jeff. I'm new to the thread and to the disboards. I was referred here by Zmack and after reading the criteria for the Disney Dads Club I'm excited to join in! This is the perfect place for me and I'm excited about getting to know other Disney Dads out there! I'm glad this place exists!

A little bit about myself: I'm 33 y/o and I live in Fort Worth, TX. I've been married for 4 years and we have an 18 month old (born Jan 2018) boy named Benjamin. Our next trip is actually in October at Disneyland. This will be Ben's first Disneyland trip so we're excited! Next year we are taking him to WDW for his first trip so we're excited about that as well! Also, any advice any other Disney Dads out there have for going with a Toddler would be greatly appreciated!

same here,it takes my mind off real world issues and puts me in my "happy space"
Me too, always planning my next trip and living them out thru you guys. It sure beats paying attention to work.

Howdy, always great to have another Texan here in the club house. Plenty of advice is available whether you want it or not. About 20% of it is really good. Grab you a beer find you an empty spot on the couch and kick back for a while, and go ahead and grab me one while you're in there. Norm will be along shortly to inform you of the dues and The godfather should stop by sometime tomorrow to brand you with your number... I mean give you your number

Thanks for the warm welcome, fellow Texan! I'll grab myself a beer (or several) and grab a few for you as well :drinking1. Although I can't promise you they'll last long. Looking forward to getting branded with my number :thumbsup2

Welcome to the club! Good to have another Jeff around!
I’ve spent a little time in Texas myself, mostly in Houston with quick visits to Galveston and Austin.
I’ve never been to Disneyland but would love to see the original one day.

Morning all...

Need more sleep. Won't get it.
Went to Germany a few days ago and going to Egypt tonight. Next week will be Mexico. Not sure what else.

Folklorama is the world's largest and longest-running multicultural festival.
It's in its 50th year, runs for two weeks and last year had over 500,000 visitors.

First day of school for DD this year. Only 3 more to go. I told her she needs to start thinking about a plan for her life. It was a little weird as DS wasn't with her for the first time. He will start college/high school in two weeks. Doing his Sr. year at the local college rather than waste the time in the high school. He is planning on enlisting in the Air Force after graduation and some college credit will give him his first stripe sooner along with more pay. Hopefully it won't turn into a "best laid plans of mice and men..." scenario.

Hi Jeff! :wave2:

Only the best people are named Jeff, don't let anyone tell you different. Texas is a BIG state and a lot of ground to cover lol. I went to Disneyland for the first time in 2015, proposed to the now wifey! It's really cool and definitely worth a visit. I prefer WDW though. We thought since our son is so young we would take him their first since it's on a smaller scale and might be easier for him.... and when I say him I really mean us. Thanks for the welcome!

That sounds like great advice! I've actually considered that thus far. Just get there and go with the flow!

Yaaaayyyyy!!!!!!!! :cool1: Thanks for the welcome! Very happy and honored to be a part of a great group of like minded Disney dudes... I mean dads!

Top O the Mornin Dads! Spent time with DD & SIL last night before they head back to DC this morning. They spent some time looking and homes & neighborhoods as their plan is to come back home in a couple years once his Navy gig is up. That obviously makes us happy, especially DW who ended the night with the typical crying her eyes out saying goodbye. DS heads back to school next Friday so before you know it the place will be back to the empty nester routine.
I enjoy planning and talking about planning the trip. DW wishes I would shuddup.

Right there with yas. Enjoy the planning and mixing things up with different game plans, puts me a bit in my happy place, diversion from from some of the day-to-day nonsense, etc. We are gonna go to Aulani next summer for first time so that and things like SWGE at HS gives me some thing new to figure out and plan.
