DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Been stuck in Toronto airport for 4hrs,hoping to get out in another hour. Most flights have been delayed or canceled. Had to rebook the long way home. Have to fly to Nova Scotia, spend 8 more hours at Halifax airport, then fly to NB at 10 am tomorrow. Hoping for the best :lmao::drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1
Sorry Rob.

Too bad such a wonderful trip has such a sucky ending. Even more so than simply having to leave.
Praying ya'll have a good night (as good as can be expected I suppose).

As the late great Rodney Dangerfield would say. I'm alright now but last week I was in rough shape let mr tell you:sick:. Day after we got home last week I came down with a touch of the flu glad I got the flu shot:scared1:, got a extra 2 days off from work and when I did work it was right to bed:eek:. Figure I must of got it at the airport, it's nice to see that so many are so willing to share their sickness. With all the coughing and sneezing going on in the check point line, I'm surprised we all didn't catch it:scratchin

Anyway we had a Great time meeting up with Rob and his family at Epcot, and we had a couple Moraccoritas:drinking1:thumbsup2. Hope to meet up again for future drinking:goodvibes:drinking1

Also meet up with Doc and DD:cool1: we always have a good time:thumbsup2. I want to Thank Doc for giving me a complete set of Transportation Cards:thanks:. I do have to say Doc is a real go getter on the cards, I can't believe how many CM's Doc is finding that have them:confused3. I gotta bring him some plastic cases to keep them in on my next trip:thumbsup2

On this trip we ate at The Boathouse, for me this was a one and done. Seems both my son and I are not fans of grass fed beef (has a gamey taste to it). A lot of people may say it is better for you, that's fine I'll save it for them:rotfl:
Sorry you got sick. That sucks.

Maybe y'all shouldn't meet up with me...

Ron gets sick
Rob gets stranded.

I don't have a good track record thus far.

Morning chaps from a Sunny and bright London. A little bit of magic happened here this morning. I can't go into too much detail, but my time as a SAHD is coming to an end on March 1. I'm totally stoked about the company I'll be working for, and part of the job is looking after Theme Park Stores. I really don't regret at all for one second the decision to look after the kids for a year, me and DD have formed a proper little bond.

Unfortunately this means that I'm going to have to turn down Doc and Rob's kind offers of undocumented Dual Feudalist "Cap doffing/brisket making/house cleaning/bacon smoking" duties.
It's a shame, it could have been beautiful. Ah well.

Thanks getting ready to board plane to Halifax.
Oof. That's brutal mate. Sorry your trip ended on a dud.
A proper introduction since I jumped right in mid-thread critisizing the groups criteria for fried poultry,
I can't think of a better segway into a 1100 page thread than offering your thoughts on Fried Chicken. Welcome Mac. Did you play for one of the London teams when you were over here? My cousin was assistant coach for Blackheath, and he did quite a lot with England youth.

I enjoyed the Boathouse. I know you're a steak guy Ron, I didn't have the steak I had Oysters and a burger, which were both tasty. We like restaurants where fish is a big part of the menu as my kids inhale seafood, and I'd rather them have that than junk up with Pizza all the time.
We still need to work on his 3-point turns and parallel parking.
I'll send my missus over as well mate, she could do with a bit of work on this.

ambu lounge is a great place, although I'll take the lapu lapu - a drink so nice they named it twice.
The backscratcher is also a fine beverage.

Have a great day chaps.

It's good for you we didn't have a signed contract yet. Could have been messy.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

On your best mate...let me know if there's a anything I can assist with here.

Thanks mate, on the vibes and the help.

On the contract front, it would have probably gone as well as the conversation I had with the other firm I was in deep discussion with joining, when I told them I was stopping the process.
Anyone would have thought I just told her I’d slept with her sister when she was out of town.

Happy Wednesday. Not much to do today. Shop for Valentine's Day, oil change, pick up some tax forms for oldest dd, tennis tonight, and tennis tomorrow morning. Oh yeah, I got to get into the office at some point. Have a great day.

The new Disney experience instead of the Curse of the Black Pearl is the Curse of Doc? :sad2: :lmao:

Congrats 007. And, if your company needs a highly paid American consultant who does little to no work and telecommutes then put in a good word for me.

Cheers buddy. Unfortunately that position has just been filled. By me.

Hello from the Great Frozen North. Made it to Halifax at 2:30 am this morning. Flight home was supposed to go at 9:45 am. It got canceled. Got rebooked for 3:15 PM, you guessed it got canceled,no more flights today. May get out tomorrow.
:guilty:

Hey, congratulations Dan! That's great news.

Well DisDads, I've just entered uncharted territory that I'm sure many of you are all too familiar with, but that we all must eventually...
My older daughter, in 3rd grade, has had a little boy "pal" for several years, and probably because of Valentine's Day coming up, and with a little help from their mutual friends, they both finally admitted that they are each other's "crush." She spent the rest of the day just giddy, in a different sort of way than I have really seen before.
My little baby girl has her first real crush on a boy - this is scary stuff!! :scared:
I would say it gets easier...but it doesn't. My oldest - who is nearly 19 - started like that, around grade 4. There have been a few boyfriends along the way. I just try to tolerate it.
Thankfully my youngest is 11 and shown zero interest in boys, at least as far as I know.
Good luck with it!

A proper introduction since I jumped right in mid-thread critisizing the groups criteria for fried poultry, admitted I had been influenced by a foreign government, and then in true modern form had a number slapped on me (#857 reporting for duty!) and was greeted with demands for frothy pineapple, liquid courage, and pork products!.
It sounds like you'll fit right in here!

Thanks getting ready to board plane to Halifax.
I hope you managed to get home OK. Rough end to a good trip.

Congrats Dan. Sounds interesting. I hope you don't miss the time with your kids too much. Hopefully it will be worth the change.

Hey, congratulations Dan! That's great news.
Thanks Mark! I'm covering the US as well, as its a global role, so hopefully our paths will cross at some point. We might even get to an actual sports bar rather than a virtual one.

Brother, you are having the journey from hell.
All the best mate.

Thanks Jeff. The job is really flexible, so they want me to work from home 2 days a week (apart from when I'm travelling but the should suit me) so it won't be that much different to now, as we kept their routine of Breakfast clubs and stuff with the view that I was probably going back at some point.

Cheers buddy. Unfortunately that position has just been filled. By me.

My post said an American. Not a Briton traveling to America. Congrats again anyway. I doubt your company will do business in KY, because, well, no one else does. But, maybe you'll be close one day.

Sounds terrible. Sorry you are having to deal with all that. Our local airport flies to one location, Sanford, FL, twice a week. We flew in the summer as we realized any delays would result in extra days in Florida, or a flight/rental car from nearby airports 45 min to 2 hours away.

Morning boys.
Back isn't out... but it sure is sore. Shoveled a ton of snow yesterday. Hmm...
1 ton = 2,000lbs...

In 100% seriousness... it was probably closer to 1/2 ton, then. How much would snow weigh given a mound aprox 5' x 3' x 6'?

I can't go into too much detail, but my time as a SAHD is coming to an end on March 1.

congrats!

Hmmm... sounds like you dodged a bullet there. Seems that they felt they already owned you.

ugh. Dude.
Did they pay for your hotel? Airlines aren't obligated if cancellations are due to weather. Or did you stay at the airport?
