A very early good morning.

I took this picture in 2011 near our room at the AKL Kidani Village. It struck me as funny and a representation of how fathers are treated differently than mothers. Yes, I get the metaphor; mirror/reflection of the dad blah, blah blah. My take was a bit different. Mom is compared to a rare precious metal while dad is a cheap piece of glass. Can't we at least be a gilded mirror?

A good dad doesn't do his job for recognition but rather out of a sense of responsibility. Yes, we are often made fun of whether it is on the TV or at home and we are Ok with that. We all know the best (and toughest) job we will ever have is being a dad.

Happy Father's Day to some of the best fathers I know.

Very well said CJ. Happy Father's Day to you as well.

Happy Father's Day. Looks like we have another beuatiful, sunny day here. I tweaked my knee earlier in the week and feels a little better today. My dds are not very good at hiding their secret plans, and I think they bought me some tennis gear. So, I'll have to put on a knee thing and go out and play with them. DW is making shrimp n grits for dinner, and as always, the beer in the fridge is cold.

Have a great day.

There is a comment in there but I'll just go with Happy Father's Day.

Top O the morning Dads and very happy Dads day to a great group of Dads.

All the best to you Duck on your wonderful day ahead.

MMmmmm....Brisket..... I've been wanting to take a stab at smoking a brisket on my Weber Kettle, just waiting for a decent sale on brisket. How do you cook yours? :confused3
Don't have a smoker so use the gas grill. Season and cook in oven first then slice. Use 2 or 3 smoker boxes of wood chips and get them smoking real good first. Then I fill one aluminum pan with some water and put another pan with the meat in that pan with burners directly under the meat on low. Keep outside burners on med high and cook / smoke for about 15 minutes a pound.

Happy fathers day dads.

Fellas-
My daddy/daughter trip has gone from Deluxe, to Moderate, to Value. DD likes the Ariel rooms at Art of Animation. Anybody stay there before? I'm not a fan of how far it is from everything and the fact that the Ariel rooms are a looong way from the buses. However, I am a fan of the price. With a Halloween Party, BBB, and Wild Africa Trek I suppose something had to give.

Its a daddy/daughter trip you win either way. Enjoy.

MMmmmm....Brisket.....

I've been wanting to take a stab at smoking a brisket on my Weber Kettle, just waiting for a decent sale on brisket.

How do you cook yours? :confused3

Never used a kettle, I have an offset stick burner. Simple rub, course salt, red and black pepper; bout 4 hours at 225 then wrap it for 2 more hours. You just need good cured wood, I use post oak and mesquite.

I told DW that I wanted to fire up the pit and cook outside for fathers day so she let me decide the menu.

Bacon wrapped Beer Brats
Roasted corn
Grilled asparagus
Sauerkraut
Sourdough onion rolls
BBQ chicken for the girls since they don't like brats.
And a good Belgian White Ale for dad to enjoy while he cooks.

Happy fathers day indeed.

DD was very sweet for Father's Day, she made some stuff for me which I love more then anything and she also decided to give me a Father's Day make-over... See if you can guess what famous celeb she made me over as.

Congratulations to the San Antonio Spurs, they were a far better team than Miami. Lots of changes will be coming to the Heat next year which will hopefully confined to the bench. It is nice to see a class act like Duncan win another championship even at the expense of my hometown team.

Treebeard? I love that character
Good guess but nope lol

Good Morning everyone, I am so glad DD doesn't have someone's birthday party to go to next weekend, after back to back weekends of parties, it's good to know nothings planned for a weekend.

Have any of y'all been to Great Wold Lodge? DD talked me into an overnight trip for our little summer trip and I've never been but it looks like a blast!

Good morning!

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day.

I might catch up with what happened over the weekend later but it is ADR day... so you know... priorities.

Morning Guys, welcome to another Monday.

The good news (for me) is that I am two weeks away from a vacation, including a Red Sox game and a cruise to Bermuda with no kids!!

Have a good one.

Morning all. Another beautiful day here. My FIL retired on Friday, which I guess is close to the greatest Father's Day of all. He came over for shrimp n grits father's day/ retirement lunch yesterday. He is only 61, but after having the hip replacement and the then gall stones experience, I guess it's enough for him. He'll continue to get health insurance through work (40 years aluminum plant), pension, and then his retirement savings.

Nice makeover. I was so glad for the days of the little kids birthday parties to be done.
