Guys-

I need MNSSHP advice. I can go to the party on Oct 30 or 31. Does it make a difference? The number of hard tickets for the event should be the same, right? Not sure how to make this decision.

Both will be busy. The 30th is Thursday, which may get you lower crowd numbers, especially after 9.

Sounds like Father's Day got extended in Kentucky.

For a few more hours. Efficient KY government IT workers fixed this cyber-bridge.

Thinking the 31st will be busier. Last year we went 11/1 and had a blast.

I agree with Randall. I'm sure 10/31 will likely sell out and be crowded. But you're close enough to Halloween that 10/30 would likely be pretty close to a sell out if it doesn't get there itself.

I'm not sure it matters much, but if crowd levels are a big concern, I'd say 10/30 will give you a better chance.
Good to know guys. I'd prefer Nov 1, but Oct 31 is the last party this year.
Chris, Touring Plans did an analysis of estimated crowd levels for MNSSHP. The link is here...

Found some interesting things looking at it.
Awesome. Now I've got something to do during my 2:00 conference call.

But even with a sellout it will still feel like an exclusive event, right? I don't want to pay this money and still be stuck with long waits. Is the "show" any different on Halloween? Everyone's comments have me leaning towards 10/30 but I need to check out Touring Plans.

SCOTT!!!

Happy birthday. Apologies for the delay.

Morning Paul. Still need to make room reservations for the end of July. Prices are more than I was expecting but will figure it out. Trying to find somewhere near the Commons area.

Try the Financial District. Some really nice hotels in there can have low rates on the weekend and it's pretty close to the common, Fanueil Hall, and the seaport.

I've not been on the actual 10/31, but haven't been told the show is different. It will be more crowded, but I don't think it is a park capacity Christmas vs September no FD crowd. We've been to some of their "busier" MNSSHP days, and still have little to no wait times (10 minutes).

It does still depend on what you want to do. If it is ride rides and trick or treat, there are little wait times. If it is a dance party, they are just massively spread out areas, so dance away. If you want a front row seat to the parade or Hallowishes, especially on the 31, get earlier to the spot. If you want a picture with the limited stuff - villians, Cinderella carriage, Snow & all 7 dwarfs, etc., then it will be a longer wait especially on the 31st with more people there competing for those same photo ops. I've seen some crazy long lines for those, but less than the Frozen lines. Fortunately, none of us have wanted to wait.

Usually, they do a parade, fireworks, then 2nd parade. I've not watched both each night to know if they were exactly the same. I just go to the 2nd parade and hope that most cleared out after the fireworks. We stayed for the Villians show once and got a picture with Maleficent, but not sure there was enough time to get individual pics with all villians before they return for 2nd parade.

We are on the Norwegian Dawn out of Boston.

Very jealous... can't wait to hear all about it.

Norwegian is really starting to compete with Royal and move away form the seniors club, and really try to focus on family entertainment. :thumbsup2

Even my nemesis gets it. Go figure...

Well, we're going with a focus on character meals. So I'm sure DD will freak and hate them all. :rotfl2: Had an availability for Be Our Guest and it was hard to not book it, but it just wasn't something we're all that interested in using an ADR for. We'll definitely go for lunch though. We feel like it is a much better lunch option than dinner.

Garden Grill Dinner - hope to cancel and book a Candlelight Processional package later
Tusker House Breakfast
Whispering Canyon Dinner
Cinderella Royal Table Dinner
Via Napoli Dinner
Hollywood & Vine Breakfast - Swore I would never eat there again after our 2008 trip, but with Sofia and Jake there... well, gotta do it for the kids. :faint:
Mama Melrose Fantasmic! package
Dinner with Chef Mickey on our way from MK back to the parking lot to leave.

That's a lot of character meals... will save a lot of time on the in park meet and greets.

Hope all you guys had a great Father's Day. We started off the festivities Saturday morning - forecast was calling for rain on Sunday, so the wife declared Saturday to be Father's Day Part 1. We went to a small railroad museum that operates about 10 miles of old inter-urban electric rail. Road an open air trolley to a farmers market/restaurant/country store type of place. The apple pie was home made and the cookies as big as my head, so I'm not complaining. Road some restored Chicago Elevated cars from the 30's back to the depot.

Then the fun began.

We were in the neighborhood anyway, so we swung by to look at a wooden backyard playset we found on craigslist. Paid the guy $140, borrowed a friend's trailer, and hauled it home that day. It didn't fit through the gate into the backyard, so I removed a fence panel and sacrificed some of DW's lilies to get the behemoth in place. Spent yesterday modifying it with additional bracing and sandbox under the elevated fort. DW mentioned on Facebook about not many dad's "giving up" Father's day to spend it building a swingset. Little does she know that I'll be playing in it just as much as the kids. :thumbsup2

Very very cool... I was following the saga on Facebook a bit... :thumbsup2

And her speech about what a fine husband and father you are...Wow... you got a good woman there. She clearly lies... but a real good woman though!

Big Night here... DW had "The Talk" with DD... :scared1:

.

Have any of y'all been to Great Wold Lodge? DD talked me into an overnight trip for our little summer trip and I've never been but it looks like a blast!

Going there Sunday for two nights as a matter of fact. (Niagara Falls location). It's fun, in particular for the kids. I find the water park so-so, but I don't slides, so don't find as much to do. Lots geared to kids though. They try to incorporate some animatronics through the lodge too, mostly in the lobby. All in all though, they do a decent job with it, try pretty hard with customer service/satisfaction.

:faint: I think we are getting close to that point here too...:headache:

Thank you, makes me feel better, DD decided that's where she wanted to go for our weekend getaway. Cincinnati one, there is a similar type park near called Wilderness at or in the smokies.

DD wants a pair of the wolf ears lol.

I find myself telling my DD's "Don't ride the dog" way more than I am comfortable with.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Good morning guys! We all had a good first day home yesterday. We played soccer, taught the newer kids to hit a ball (plastic set from Grandma), and had lots of laughs! Unfortunately, my twins both have colds so last night was an early night for them. DW is adjusting to the time difference well. I let her sleep in yesterday while I took care of breakfast. For those who don't yet know, electric griddles rock!! I was cooking six pancakes at a time.

Barry, congrats on the play set score. I loved seeing the pics. I only wish Ryder wasn't so serious in all of them, lol

Andy, nice job on the ADR's!

Brian, no need for the "talk" here. All four of my girls will be nuns so I'm just skipping over that part.

Prayers and good vibes to those who need them!
