Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Well stop leaning on the shovels and get to work. ;) :lmao:

Seriously I hope you get that fixed and get some rest soon. How old is the bridge?

The plans are from 1971, so roughly 40 years old.

Meh, like I said, use the Hazzard County model. They don't need bridges.

You have to think about the disadvantaged population, though. Not everyone can jump the river. So, catapults.:thumbsup2

Yes, we want you to stop leaning on those shovels and start using them. :stir: :lmao:

Seriously, I saw it on FB and it is hard work for you guys working outside on the roads or bridges.

They uncovered the foundations of the piers and found a lot of cracks. It's not going to be a quick fix.

Sounds like you have the same sort of infrastructure deficit that we do.

Jim, sorry to hear about your Uncle. Condolences to you and your family.

Exhausting week this week. You may or may not have heard about our I-495 bridge that had to be shut down when it was discovered that some of the piers are leaning out of alignment. :scared:

I'm managing the survey crews and we need to gather data before the engineers can even begin to design a solution. So we've had a couple of very long nights here. Say what you will about state workers, but we've been leaning on our shovels 24 hours/day here all week.

Confirms my long held hatred of all things to do with bridges. Although when I visit the Pirate Princess, i usually drive the I-95 bridge, I know I have gone over the 495 one. More than once. Am lucky to be alive. I say bring back ferry service.

In case any of you were wondering how I am doing in the World, this was my lunch...

Along with about four glasses of iced tea because it was so hot out there. Very nice lunch at the Derby. Tonight we hit DHS again to see the fireworks. Tomorrow is a no park day since it is a weekend. Breakfast at Kona then planing to spend some time at the pool. ESPN tomorrow night if anyone is around the Boardwalk and wants to stop by.

DD and DW are camping for the weekend...

Boys weekend here.

Anyone who wants to join, I'm supplying the beer and pizza...

Tonight, I am going to introduce him to THE PRINCESS BRIDE - been years since I've seen it myself...

We have two bridges off interstates going into Louisville. One has been shut down for more than 6 months. Thankfully, I don't have to drive that way too often. They closed the smaller, one lane (each way) bridge into Owensboro for deck repair. The last day of the repair, they allowed the public to walk over the bridge to the other side. It was really cool.

Nice lunch. I'd like to meet up with you at ESPN tomorrow, but that drive is a bit much.

Pick me up on the way and I'll split the drive with you... :confused3

Just settled in at the offsite resort for this trip (Bluegreen Fountains Resort). We all had a long travel day, but the kids were pretty good for me (DW doesn't fly well, so I am on kid duty for most of the time).

Thank goodness for Air Canada's free back of screen, on-demand video system. Kept the kids entertained for the longest of our flight legs (YYC-IAH) and I even got to watch Monuments Men and most of the Lego Movie.

Tomorrow is just a settling in day for grocery shopping, pool time and the other extended family members arrive throughout the day. I am looking forward to some pool time.

Keep well everyone.

Rob

Morning guys. Jim, prayers for you and your Uncles family. I am very sorry for your loss.

Good morning Dads - enjoy the weekend.

Enjoy DaWorld and say hi to Mickey for us

Cool that your DW can save some money up. I don't know if I could handle living my parents again, though. I forget that you get those 40% discounts. That is better than most any offer, perhaps even DVC since you don't have the initial purchase amount or annual dues. It is great now that a week at the BWV costs $500.

Yeah I don't think I could live with my parents either. It was her decision to make. She will appreciate the help with the little one. Plus she can move out and find a new rental if it gets bad enough.
The discount is nice but it’s not guaranteed I called every day for like 3 months for our December trip to get a discount at POP and in the end all I could get was the AP one... yes better than nothing but not what I would have liked to get.
You get cool DVC exclusive pins and stuff too. I know at least once I have seen those and really wanted them.

Tonight, I am going to introduce him to THE PRINCESS BRIDE - been years since I've seen it myself...

Good choice.

Pick me up on the way and I'll split the drive with you... :confused3

Sure, the old jump in the moving car bit. You go ahead and wait by that mailbox. I left 5 hours ago.

Have a great trip.

Last day here. The sun is out but it doesn't seem as bright as it was the day we arrived. Heading to Kona soon for breakfast. Lazy day by the pool if the weather cooperates. Supposed to get some rain later in the day.

Nice lunch. I'd like to meet up with you at ESPN tomorrow, but that drive is a bit much.

October Bubba. Can't come soon enough.

Thanks for the invite... :sad2:

Join us, we may even buy you a beverage. Just don't bring Jim along.

Grass cut and have been watching women's French Open final. It is going to the 3rd set.

You get cool DVC exclusive pins and stuff too. I know at least once I have seen those and really wanted them. .

Yes, I do enjoy collecting those pins, as if I needed to spend more money at WDW.

October Bubba. Can't come soon enough. .

Looking forward to it. Just wish I could win that lotto, live in Golden Oak, and make that visit on a daily basis.

Join us, we may even buy you a beverage. Just don't bring Jim along.

Nemesis to the end. :stir: :lmao:

Another winner breakfast at Kona. I tried something new, the Eggs Benedict with pulled pork hash. The Pirate Princess had, what else, the Tonga Toast.

Also ran into this guy...

Off to the pool in a bit when the kid wakes up from a nap.

You dont need a reason for it but sometimes its cool that you get something special that not every one can get. I like some of the AP stuff that can be gotten I got a cool Star Wars Weekend one that was AP LE. as well as a 25th Hollywood AP LE.

First two games in the books. 1-1. First game we won 14-13. DD had 8 of the 14 points and played well. Second game we played looked like a high school team. Two girls over 6 feet (one was confirmed to be 10 years old:eek:) and pretty good. We lost, but the girls played hard start to finish. Once more tomorrow. If we win, we play in the championship game.

Super busy. 17 skids of product and like half of it is my beer and coolers.

Sorry to hear and my condolences to you and your family.

Well, since it is yours you can feel free to share. Send some of it town here. I'll help you put it away.

Sounds like you have the same sort of infrastructure deficit that we do.

Canada has a cracked foundation?:eek: I knew there was something wrong when I was there.

Jim, sorry to hear about your Uncle. Condolences to you and your family.
