We sort of thought we were going to try that route. DD7 said she wanted to try something different so we started looking into beach destinations. We had settled on Hilton Head and the costs were not going to be much different from Disney. DD2 had been chattering about going back and with the baby coming in the fall we changed plans. So we're doing 1 last trip with only having to do park tickets for 1 child but we split it up and are doing 3 Disney nights and 3 nights at the beach in St. Pete. Costs would have been comparable had we not decided to spring for a deluxe this time since it is only 3 nights. :lmao:

That's kind of what we did in 2011. We did St. Pete for a couple of nights and 5 nights at Disney. DW just wants a more laid back vacation this time and we're going to plan for a week at Disney after Thanksgiving of 2014. Hopefully by then DS will be tall enough to ride a few more things, and DD will be 2 years and 7 months.

I'd be up for just going back to Disney World right now, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try doing something different every once in a while. Now if I could just get myself to believe that... :rolleyes1

I'm all for trying other things so long as we can get some Disney time too. Seriously though when DW and I travel alone we try out other things like Vegas and Jamaica each a couple of times. When the kids get older we'll probably branch out some more. One of these days we really want to get back to Maui but have decided to wait til the kids are older and could appreciate it more.

Dave, congrats on Briana's "write up." Add me to the group that originally freaked out. Glad she is doing well. The Pirate Princess is considering the College Program at some time and it is neat seeing the pictures and hearing her experiences.

Next week my vacation starts. On Sunday 6/16 is my first day in the Magic Kingdom in 13 years!

Also, the first time with my daughters.

Head down tomorrow a.m. and will likely be off the board after today as web access at sea is basically nonexsitent / expensive...

Have fun guys. Looks like two great trips.

While I did not dive last weekend because of the shoulder, DD and my Brit friend did. On one dive he ran into Crush. Largest Turtle either of us ran into underwater. Must have been 80-100 years old. Amazing creature.

Getting everything ready to leave on Monday. Bunch of errands tomorrow and packing over the weekend.

Don't tell them. Say that the hotel staff warned you of a major construction project and you have to take a detour to get back home. Drive towards Disney and see when they figure it out.

Sneaky... I like it...

Well... do you consider 4 to be too old for a stroller?

Stroller naps can be a life saver if you want to do a long day in the parks. :thumbsup2

Unless of course she is the type who will just be too into everything going on to allow herself to crash for a while.

Nah, I brought up the possibility of a stroller, and the DW gave me the 'look'.

So no stroller for my 4 year old. :)

Wow, that's an impressive turtle. Randall, do you have any pictures of when you brought him home as a pet after he was born? :confused3

SNAP!

Watching the pre-game coverage waiting for tipoff. I know the rest of the nation is rooting for Duncan and the Spurs but GO HEAT!

Hey guys, been a weird day here at work. This morning the fire alarms went off and we had to evacuate the building. Ended up being a gas leak and we all ended up standing out in the parking lot for over an hour before they told us it would be another hour and that we should all go to lunch. Then this afternoon the bosses boss is in with him behind closed doors with one of the other managers. Everyone has been on edge because we've all been expecting organization shakeups for a while. Not sure what's happening (though we don't think anyone is in dange of losing their job, just reassignments).

:

Hopefully it pans out relatively smooth and painless

We are not bringing a stroller for our (soon to be) 5, but if need be we'll rent one if needed

DD was in one when she was 6. Just made life easier to and we were able to do what we wanted to get done. She actually fell asleep during the fireworks.

This weekend is DW's dance studios recital. Since it's her studio, she's the head honcho and has been running around crazy for the last couple weeks. Tonight is dress rehearsal and Saturday we have 2 shows. Can't wait for it to be over. She only has classes one night a week for half the summer so we get to have sort of a normal family life for a couple of months.

Good luck with the changes and wish DW luck with the recital. Hope it goes well. We finished our dance season the weekend of Memorial Day.

I'm with you cj. Lebron is the best player on the planet right now - so much fun too watch.

I'd prefer to be at the park all day, but I don't think my family has the stamina. They could probably do it for a day, but to close the park down one night and be at rope drop the next morning would be tough. Plus if there are big crowds or the weather is super hot, I'm not missing much if I bail out for a few hours while the crowd is at its peak. Then I just come back when other people's kids are melting down and start leaving. I think I'm pretty smart about how I go about the parks so I'm still able to get a lot done and leave feeling like I got my money's worth.

If I had my druthers I'd stick around and take a more leisurely pace through the parks. But I'm Dad. Since when do I get my druthers?:confused3

I know my oldest might make it and want to go back, but my 4 year old...No way can she do rope drop to closing...

We stopped going back for naps when youngest dd was age 4. She slept in stroller or France at Epcot. I had the stamina 4 years ago. Now, we are RD to close every other day.

Normally, I would say go home, but shakeups don't sound good. Hope all works out for you.

I'm permitted 3 good ideas a year. I may have exhausted my supply.

Yikes, sleeping 4 year old can be happy and hot. Good luck.

Ron,
The DISDad's Macgyver

mac.jpg

:rotfl2:, Macgyver used to be one of my favorite shows, had some crazy ways of doing things but some would actually work, one time I tried one, he cut metal (chain link fence) using a car battery, jumper cables, and a penny (you have to use a pre 1982 that is all copper) it worked, not as easy as on the show, in fact it was pretty dangerous, but it did work:confused3

Another show was The A-Team, most of the stuff they did would probably work, but the chances of actually having all the needed things is pretty slim, I always got a chuckle no matter where they were trapped they always had a complete set of tools including cutting torch and welding supplies:rotfl::confused3

If you are going to do long days you might end up renting one, my son will be turning 8 this trip we will be there 11 days, now he's been pretty good on our last trips but after a few 16hr days, we started to have to rent a double stroller for him since he just couldn't keep up, so this year it's still not out of the question with him, it will most likely only be after dinner till closing, I've seen older kids in them and I don't care if I get looks, I'd much rather have him bomb out in a stroller then carry carry him through the park:scared: we will also be touring with another family with a 6yr old so the idea is not off the table, plus it's a great way to carry around all the stuff you bring with you or purchase during the day:thumbsup2
