Morning guys. I got in a little trouble with DW last night. Her parents are always canceling their time with us because one of her other screwed up siblings is in need of their help. I told her mom that I think some people look for the drama. She was like you always stick by your family, and I 100% agree with that. My scenario to her is that if someone steps in dog poop the first time, it's an accident. The second time maybe you are just being a little careless, the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th times....well people are just going to think you like stepping in the poop.

Well my give a care moment didn't last long enough according to DW. I did tell her that it hasn't changed in all these years when grown a$$ 35+ year old people can't deal with little things.

Brother, I feel for you, I live a lot of life walking on eggshells. Hope it smooths over soon.

And, it depends on the perspective of family. IMO, family is who you choose. If they are related by blood, then that's ok as well. So, on my list is my wife and my children. So, when it goes to family time, holidays, vacations, etc, I choose and want to spend it with them. DW's perspective of family is who you are born into. Thus, her parents and brother will always take priority planning to me. It was difficult early on - her brother mooching money, her mother planning chores (at her mom's house, not ours), her dad calling for errands.

Fortunately, the dds activities have taken priority over her family's requests. I'm sure it has to do with childhood experiences, but sometimes enough is enough. I'll be happy to stick by family, but it doesn't mean I have to do the work for them. I'll pray for them and offer advice, but I'm not going to participate on their terms.

It is lunchtime here. I finished all my work by 9:00 AM. I'm thinking about doing one of those George Costanza desks so I can sleep behind it without anyone knowing I'm in here. Or, I could just find myself another job or part-time work to do, but alas, I am too lazy for that as well. Hope you all have as peaceful of a workday as I am having.

I believe in a 3 hr buffer between all my brothers, sisters, and parents. We get along great that way. I hear about all the drama but never have to be involved thanks to the distance.
