As for the fans, I agree that no one should be saying anything during the anthem. However, Purdue fand were chanting Hoosiers Suck when Purdue was losing by 20+ :confused3
Ok, I was there and I didn't even hear that. If it was actually being chanted, it must have just been somehwere near a mic that it was picked up, because I didn't hear it.

There is a cheer though that is done during the 8 minute TV time out in the second half every game though. The band plays a song and at the end the students yell IU sucks. I'm guessing that might be what you were referring to? Doesn't matter who's playing or what the score is. It's just what they do. You can't just not do it because you're losing. :rotfl2::lmao:

And you'll never hear me yelling IU sucks or Boiler Up or anything else during a national anthem. I don't have a problem with anybody cheering for their team, but that is not the time for it.

Hey guys. Having a week here.

Yesterday DW calls with a stalled out car. Fortunately just needed a boost to the battery and all was fine.

Today she calls at work and says we have water in the basement. Recovery team got here at 2:30 and are still tearing out the drywall etc. sump pump got overloaded and the breaker flipped. No battery backup pump.

Fortunately we have good insurance. The agent we work with has covered DW's family since day 1 of his career. (He inherited DW's family as a client from his Dad). Turns out his brother runs the restoration company. Nice having connections that know the system. Also had my neighbor to do the plumbing work and another friend from the Parrish checking out the furnace.

All in all, not horrible as it is just stuff. The worst was water got into DD's school archives. We have all the papers laid out to dry and hopefully salvage some.

I'm exhausted right now, more from adrenaline crash than anything else.

Just keep swimming....:rotfl2: Glad everything is getting resolved and almost on to the weekend. It's handy to have neighbors with trade skills.:thumbsup2 Hope you can save the archives. We started taking pictures of what we wanted to keep and then only keeping a few special things. It was getting to the point we needed to rent storage just for the artwork and stuff.

So I get transferred to a new store....what do I do first?

Drive by to see what options are for lunch/dinner breaks..:rotfl2: quite a selection as it turns out..Chinese place, japanese, mexican, Tims, Starbucks, sub place, burger place, a pub, a sitdown restraunt, and a big supermarket :thumbsup2 All set!

Also spotted an EB Games too....sweet

Glad you were able to get all the important things done already!::yes::

And you'll never hear me yelling IU sucks or Boiler Up or anything else during a national anthem. I don't have a problem with anybody cheering for their team, but that is not the time for it.

Agreed. There is a high school up near Green Bay that was in our conference. The Ashwaubenon Jaguars. (It's pronounced just like it's spelled :lmao:) Every time we'd travel there for a game, their band would play the national anthem and the students would sing along. Except the last line, where they'ed replace "and the home of brave" with "and the home of the Jags." Worse yet, they would scream Jags as loud as they could. Really pissed me off every time I went there. :furious:

Team Sparrow member is running? You may be thrown off the team if I can borrow someone from the other team to throw you off. :lmao: I might just switch to team beer.

Capt. Jack does do some occasional running. It's just not recreational. I plan on doing mine under the guise of trying to:
  • Get away from pirates
  • Get away from natives
  • Get away from british soldiers
  • trying to catch up to the rum

Other than a cold morning, things going well here. The Bishop of our diocese had Mass at our church last night, followed by a reception, to meet the Religious Education children and their families. I finally figured out why youngest dd was so excited, she thought it was going to be the Pope. :lmao:

On the work side, I finished all my projects for the FY. I'm going to hold this last one awhile longer as if I turn it in earlier, then I'll just get more work. The travel schedule doesn't look too bad thru then as well. I have my iPad to catch up on some reading, and then I need to plan food for Superbowl.

how disappointed was she?? The hat's just a little smaller, right?

Morning Guys

Just about to head down to the last day of the convention. Flight home is around 6 tonight and it is a direct flight. :cool1:

Hope you all have a great day. Later.

convention??? i thought that ended!! :confused3

The Ashwaubenon Jaguars. (It's pronounced just like it's spelled :lmao:)
Sure it is! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Reminds me of a few years ago when Steven Tyler sang it before the Indianapolis 500... and he replaced home of the brave with home of the Indianapolis 500. But it was really done at such a high pitched shreik you couldn't really understand it too well anyway. :lmao:

Brent - congrats on the transfer. I hope you enjoy spreading alcohol induced happiness to a new part of town!

This is a bigger money area too :thumbsup2

YUP, seems someone always gets the news out first, no matter where you work.

Congratulations!!! I hope the co-worker/management situation at this store is more to your liking! :thumbsup2

I am sure they are idiots too :rotfl2: I knowthe boss there is a huge step down from my boss, who is really cool. But I can go in there now and not care, just focus on my job, I have no current responsibilities. At my current store, it was "my store", I been there since Day 1, so it all felt personal.

Communicating with a former co-worker now in that store to see what the word is...it's news to him too, so everyone is keeping it mum.:confused3

That must have been it. The anthem thing was totally uncalled for. I don't care who you root for it is disrespectful. I apologize for those boneheads.

Will "walking briskly" count?

you know what else pi$$es me off too... when they don't sign it the right way and have to sing it 'their' way. Sing the song how it was intended. :headache:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hopefully it is not a more work area. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Might be, it's a busier store then our current one. There are a LOT of businesses (Big Canadian Tires, Shoppers Drug Mart, Metro grocery etc)in that plaza, I see weekends as crazytown.

DW and the district manager agree I thrive in big busy stores, so that works for me.

Mark - hopefully today will be full of competent, polite coworkers.

:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

My goodness, I almost got that out with a straight face!

Don't worry, that's why they pay me the big bucks.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Hey, I almost got that out with a straight face, too!

The hits just kept on coming yesterday. I lead a small group in our church, and one of the guys called me last night in hysterics. Spent 2.5 hours on the phone with him--basically, his marriage is a grease fire. The problem is, both he and his wife are leveling all sorts of malicious accusations against each other and I have no idea where the truth lies. Hard to make any progress when each person is trying to get you to take sides against the other.

What day is it, anyway? I'm a little out of sorts this week.

Very kind of you to try to lend a hand. Sorting through that is tough situation to be in.

Don't worry, it's Monday! :thumbsup2

Sounds like your days should go by fairly quickly then. :thumbsup2

Wow... tough situation to be stuck in the middle of. :faint:

Ugh, no win situations suck...

Especially since the store closes an hour earlier then my current one :thumbsup2

Ugh. But at least your church is paying you the big bucks to lead this group, right?

October?

Agreed.

Man Law. If ever asked to perform National Anthem, sing it the right way.

Second?

I'm sure you're doing your best and excellent stewardship on the time commitments. It sounds like these two need more individual help. Hopefully, your pastor is working with them or referring them out for counseling.

What time should I arrive???

Whatever time you want to be. Just let me know if your bringing the whole clan and I'll prepare some extra food.

  • Get away from pirates
  • Get away from natives

Running for those reasons is acceptable. Capt Jack usually figures something out before 10K.

how disappointed was she?? The hat's just a little smaller, right?

Fairly disappointed. But, she's resilient and perked up quickly once she saw the most important thing - dinner spread included hot dogs. :lmao:
