Good news, Bad news. The minivan is dead.

As some of you know, the check engine light has been on since 2010. The report was a defective air sensor, which connects to the catalytic converter. So, no need to replace and I would know when it started to smell, get worse gas mileage, and worse performance. The van had been stinking for several weeks on occasion, acceleration was worsening, and yesterday, temp gauge hit Hot.

Good news, Bad news. The minivan is dead.

I had been Internet shopping cars and found a 2010 Toyota Camry, 30,000 miles, for $13,800. I now own it, or more accurately, DW now owns it, and i have no emergncy fund. I now get to drive the Tumbler, i.e., Pontiac Aztek with 100K miles and transmission issues.

Anyway, here's a picture.

Congratulations?

Sorry tp hear about the van, and the eggshells the Aztek is on, but the car looks pretty nice.

Excellent parenting! :thumbsup2
Thank you sir :)
Afternoon....hope everyone's having a good one....today is a rest/putter day. Set a big plate of fruit for the girls to snack on and movies (looks like rain anyways).

Yesterday was the Ontario Science Center, which we have season passes for. They have a rotational/temporary exhibit hall for special exhibits, and for the summer it is the Evolution of Video Games. Really wanted to attend it, so it was a good excuse to go. Really loved it, wished I could have played around more, but there are always crowds in the summer what with day camps families etc, and having to keep an eye on Audrey, didn't do as much as I wanted to.
Great pics and brought back lots of memories / I'm not getting any younger.

Condolegratulations? Congrats on the new wheels but sorry 'bout the funds usage.

Because fishing doesn't give you the inherent adrenaline rush that golf provides.

Ever hook a good sized fish? That can bring quite a rush....but I like both sports...

And I equally suck at both sports too. :rotfl2:

Man, that Atari 2600 brings back some memories. That was the pinnacle of technology, right there.

Doesn't it? Close second was the original Nintendo, but got a lot of milage out of the Atari. I even liked (and could win at) the great video game albatross E.T. !!

Fishing can be fun. I mean you can't tell me that you wouldn't have an adrenaline rush (and probably crap your pants) if you reeled in a nice big shark or something.
Exactly

And you can't "race" golf carts. They always seem to be governed at the same speed, which makes racing difficult.

You can, however, get some pretty good bumper car action going (that's why they put those big rubber bumpers on them) and that rear axel braking system makes it easy to get some good power slides going around the curves. Just make sure there's no holes to catch a tire in when you do that. Those things flip easy. :rolleyes1

How many courses are you banned at anyways? :rotfl2:

Thank you sir :)

Great pics and brought back lots of memories / I'm not getting any younger.

It was nice for Amelia who is into the current gaming scene like the simplicity of Space Invaders. I have a retro Atari system with games built right into it I need to hook up for them.

Man... I remember staying up all night to flip Asteroids over and over again on the 2600. I doubt most kids these days even know what "flipping" is! :lmao:

On another note... getting ready to watch Despicable Me 2 in the theater. Shhhhhhh!

Congrats on the new ride! Sorry to hear your wallet took a hit for it.

And it's still more than fishing. :rolleyes1 Besides, you can always race the golf carts. :thumbsup2

Congrats on the new money pit!

I'm not sure whether to congratulate you, or say I'm sorry since you don't even get to drive the new vehicle.

I
Out of curiosity, where'd you get it? Private party of dealer?

Thanks all. It really is a bag of mixed feelings at this point. I hated the minivan. DW wanted one so bad and after "we" bought it, she "hated" it, and I got to drive it. We got it at our local, new car dealer (there are three in town) with the "under the tent sale". The van had 192,000 miles and I just couldn't justify more repair on the 14 year old vehicle. I knew the check engine light was there, but it also needed new tires and probably new struts (wasn't riding very well). There was a leak and it didn't hold wiper fluid and the AC wasn't very strong. And, it is a really great looking car, gets good gas mileage, and has great longevity reputation. I like driving the Aztek so I can pretend to be Batman and blow people up with it.

Even after all those pros, the con of no money is still way worse. After our October trip, I may sell one of our DVC Contracts to get the cash back.

And, you can race golf carts. They may not be able to out speed one, but you can out bump one.

Aren't they more like entry fees?

Whatever you want to call them, I'm broke now and I need more beer money.

Have fun storming the castle.

Nemie- shoot me a PM with your Address so I can send something from the world.

Btw- hey norm. I'm sorry I've been gone. We have had a lot of trials for custody over the summer. But the world is 3 days away.

Barry- I'm prepped for some morning drops on ToT on August 5!!!!

Ok I cooked up a pack tonight, opening the pack I noticed right away that the bacon looked like a mini football but made sense since a duck is not a huge animal, another thing I noticed was the fat to meat ratio, with reg bacon it is more fat, with duck it was more meat less fat, when I put it in the pan it had a gamey smell, while cooking I made a few calls and got together 4 male neighbors + myself to make 5 all from ages 22 - 74 to help in the taste test, each person had 2 slices of duck bacon, for appearance and texture it got 5 thumbs up, while we all agreed it was a little saltier then regular bacon it got 5 thumbs up for taste it had more meat less fat then regular bacon it made up for the salt with a flavorful meat:thumbsup2, next was the question is it more like pork bacon or turkey, across the board everyone said pork. Everyone agreed that the regular price was way to rich for our blood, if it was offered we would all eat it again.

After the test since I have 5 more packs we came up with a signature dish for my next BBQ, It was 5 thumbs up for Buffalo sirloin steak cut up wrapped in duck bacon:confused3

So what does Duck Bacon sell for:confused3 Regular retail is 11.99 for a 8oz pack so your looking at 23.98 a pound:scared1:

Very interesting, although it's a bit too expensive for my blood....I'm a cheapass :rotfl2:

Sorry about the hit on the wallet. The good news is that at 30k miles that car is barely broken in. :thumbsup2

Depending on when or if you plan on selling one of your DVC let me know.

Morning guys. I am spending the day with a rep from one of adhesive/tape suppliers. He is from Germany. All I've been told is he eats steak for lunch and dinner and there is no way he can be out drunk.

He is paying for the meals :thumbsup2 and I honorably take the challenge of representing 'America and showing him what drinking is :thumbsup2

Good luck. Will there be a "trip" report with pictures? :rotfl2:

Sorry about the car troubles Norm and even worse the blow to the wallet. That sucks!

But those are some nice and shiney tires you've got there!

G'mornin fellas. Happy Thursday!

It finally happened this morning. The electric razor had to be recharged. The last time I had to charge it was on our cruise. It had been running on DREAM Power up until now! It just doesn't feel as magical anymore. :lmao:
