Bummer. We are going to be there last week of August. Would have provided an opportunity for a meet up. Saving $$ for DVC is a good by product though, less magic is :sad1:.

We actually looked around at the resales last week. Still didn't pull the trigger. The old college in 5 years thing keeps getting in the way, but getting closer I think.

A long time ago I had the foresight to keep the college savings and the fun savings seperate. I won't raid one to pay for the other. So fun money is sacred. I looked at resale too. The prices are at least $20 per point higher than they were just 6 months ago.
Sorry it didn't work out and prayers being sent. DS is learning French. He says all they do is eat in class.
"Do you speak French?"
"No- but I do kiss that way." <<<<Name that movie. No googling.
I still feel bad for you guys, but I'm glad you're able to have a positive attitude about it.

I'm glad you're going to continue to learn Russian. Who knows what the future holds? You might need it again at some point anyway.

We got the news about her accepting the offer yesterday evening. I happened to be looking at some fantasy football scores at the time. Beating the Test Track Dummies by about 100 points eased any pain I might have felt.

Peanut Butter Beverly. All positive thoughts and wishes sent your way are revoked.

That is my type of class. Where do I sign up? :lmao:

Sorry about your DD's chin. That would take some skill to get hurt that bad on some double seater go kart.

She is right that every family has them though. DW has a cousin who is about as bad as they can get. Our difference is that nobody in DW's family will let her around their kids. She isn't invited to family events and nobody is shy about letting her know how they feel about some of the things she's done. .

Thanks. The cousin sounds just like BIL, except that his parents still give him money and everyone lets them around their kids. I won't win over DW, but am winning over my dds. I'll remind them of the accident next time they might be around. They are both good at shunning other kids they don't want to have anything to do with.

Just say the word brother :thumbsup2
!

Thanks. I'm just hoping once we move to Florida in 10 years, we will be done with them.

Don't even try. I gave up trying to even discuss the in-laws side. You can't win. Just try to avoid them when you can.
!

True. But, I can make it so unpleasant that they will stay away.

If I stare at this long enough and make a wish, will it make my work go away?

Yes, because you will be fired and escorted off the premises. :lmao:

Like the rest of you, when the extended family wants to go to WDW, they ask me to plan it. I was expecting to rent points for a week at BLT in the last week of August 2014. Now I'm told that other parts of the family want to go for a shorter trip in October and go off-site at my mom's time share (free). Shorter trip and considerably less magic. It wouldn't be so bad, but I made my Dec. 2013 trip off site because I was expecting the next one to be onsite. That will be three off-sites in a row!:scared1: I might need to sign up for a race down there just to get some onsite time even if it's just me (again)..

A trip to WDW is still a trip to WDW. But, I agree that on property is the way to go. That's the other nice part about DVC. You have the points, so you just have to make another trip there.

Morning guys.

Thinking of Fed this am with the news about the Navy Yard.

Saw your post on FB. Prayers for all involved with this one.

I threw her in there just for you.

Thanks. A picture would have been better, but google images works over here as well.

Glad she's alright. In laws are a pain. One days DS was getting triple team bullied by two older girl cousins and his sister joined in. Their mom and DW were just watching I told DS to start throwing haymakers. Guess who was in the dog house.

Agreed. I get that negotiating boundaries and limits is a part of life. However, triple team is not.

I love Monday morning!!!
]

A great way to start the day. Thanks Dave.

Sorry about the accident but nicely done toughing it out on the pitch with another goal :thumbsup2 My ILs are all good, pretty lucky on that acount. The "outlaws" followed from Chicago a few years after it was apparent we were not coming back to Chicago area any time soon. They live 1.5 miles away and we see them a lot and it works out well 95% of the time - again I am lucky on this topic.
:)

Yeah, these outlaws also live 1.5 miles away, but I have narrowed them down to holiday and birthday visits. Even though her parents are divorced and have always both outwardly preferred her brother to her, I can't even talk DW into going to WDW at Christmas time to leave her precious family behind.

For those of you that remember the story, the Ukranian visitor accepted a family's offer of adoption. Minnesota will be receiving a new Ukrainian teenage girl sometime in the next year. DW was a little sad at the news. I get that. She wishes it had been us but it was clear that we weren't a good fit. But ultimately we're happy that there's going to be one less orphan in the world.

I'm sure that still felt bittersweet. I hope she does great with the new family.

Morning guys.

Thinking of Fed this am with the news about the Navy Yard.

Terrible news.

I think this was a one-time effort for us. But we'll do what we feel called to do. Just last week DW told me to learn French becuase she's been thinking about kids from Haiti. If I could find a facepalm smiley, I'd use it here.

We kept looking into adoptions and then having surprise babies. I think the good Lord is trying to tell us something.

Let me know if it works.

It did not.:headache:

"Do you speak French?"
"No- but I do kiss that way." <<<<Name that movie. No googling.

The Naked Gun?

Yes, we do the same. It just seems that when the extra $$ is there and we start to discuss DVC vs. college, it always goes to college. Of course you know that unless you have the $$ to pay for it all, the more $$ you have the less financial aid you see typically. Just another way to make sure those that do the right thing are punished.

As far as the movie, it is a Leslie Neilson one as I can picture it in my head. Can't remember which. I do hear that Canada is giving us his remains so maybe that will help.:lmao::lmao:

Does anyone on the list actually go to the beach in Canada? Didn't think so.:lmao::rotfl2:

Yes but the beaches are topless so pictures can not be posted on family site.

Does anyone on that list still live in Canada?

Yes they do. But it doesn't matter, they are still Canadian and we couldn't be prouder. Well maybe not Pam Anderson so much but still.

Now this page is OWNED!!!

Good thing someone is paying attention. Randall, thanks for the reminder.

To all, I have hit that milestone of 5,000 posts and while my wife and children just shake their heads at me while I post, it's nice to know around 700 others that understand.

It's been a while since I joined and have had a few DisDads meet ups. In my opinion, you can't find a better group of people to communicate with (except CJ of course because he is my nemesis). Thanks to all for letting me be part of the group and hope to meet up with many of you in the future.

Dave, Jodi asked me yesterday if Briana was going to make Disney her career? And you know, I didn't have an answer. So, is she?

she is coming home in January to finish her degree. she is leaning towards the hospitality field. she could extend till may but that would put her another semester behind. we have met a few of her managers this trip and they tell us what a great kid she is??????? :lmao:

she don't want to sell pop corn and ice cream the rest of her life but she does like working for Disney. she likes the cast members and the company. the best part about wdw is you can work your way up. when she comes home, she is going to try to work for the Disney store while finishing her degree.

she does want to come back maybe for the summer.if we lived here, I would be willing to bet she would be part time here.

had a back stage tour today. Briana took us behind the magic kingdom and showed us around a little. we went to cast connections. the place where cast members can buy anything from resort furniture, desks, props, Disney park clothes you name it. also took us to company d. company d is where cms can buy there park tickets for family and cm clothing, pens, pins you name it. company d is in the Disney university building.

On a slightly related note, I decided to buy Rosetta Stone Russian again (I had returned it before). For whatever reason, DD and I really liked learning it.

So sorry to hear this.

Wanna work there one day.

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:
Those are very scary. Glad she is OK. DD had a bout so bad she stopped breathing.

Thanks...that was her LAST hospital visit before this one...

She is fine and dandy, aside from refusing to nap, is all concerned she might not make it to Sparks tonight (She is going)

Hey that reminds me we saw that building among others on our off day, including that Vista Way place...let's just say a CM's directions were really off getting from the Poly to Fantasia Gardens :rotfl2:

Very cool! So how many rooms in your house are going to be re-themed now?

Yes. He's saying that whoopee has consequences!!

He's probably trying to make sure it never happens again! :scared1::sad:

Can she apply for a better position once her degree is finished or is it still "work your way up". I would think that with a higher education level and her excellent work history, they could find somewhere that would be agreeable.

Continued good luck!

We pass by that building every time we go to and from the airport to Disney. Always wanted to stop and go in. Lucky Duck!

So sorry to hear this.

Thanks, but don't be. Although I've never been to Minnesota, I hear it's nicer than living in a Ukranian orphanage. Our goal was to see Alyona with a family. I think we played a part in that. It wasn't the part we expected, but it looks like it's ending well. We can't complain.
