We are staying at the Hard Rock Hotel for 2 days (after a week at the Swan).

Cool. My original plans to do Universal involved staying st SSR and driving over, however, after reading about the Express Pass, it sounds like it is worth it to check into one of the resorts there for a couple nights. Let us know how it works.

I will.

When we did the math, the Express Pass and the early entry into Harry Potter made switching to the Hard Rock Hotel the most attractive option. :thumbsup2

The biggest concern (for us) is that Disney is so wonderful with my son's food allergies. Universal deals with it on more of an ad hoc basis.

I faxed everything over to Disney a few weeks ago. It has already been sent to all the restaurants we have reservations at. Even though we don't have any reservations at the Swan, we still plan to have breakfast there and a buffet dinner one night. So, even though no official reservation, Disney forwarded the allergy information to the Swan chef who called me and we discussed my son's allergies and what food he likes so they can be sure to have it on hand for him.

We feel so safe at Disney with him. At every restaurant, a chef comes over before we order and they know all about the allergies already. At Universal, we will be speaking with the waiter and chef every time (which is what we do whenever we eat out at home) and basically avoid most foods.

Overall, the chance to stay at Universal with Express Pass and early entry tipped the scales.

The Dolphins are doomed now. They cut Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson from the team after being jailed for head butting his wife. Thanks ocho, we hardly knew you. Don't let the door hit you on the behind as you leave. At least we don't owe you anything.

Praying for you Brian and your Doctors to get you back on your feet!

Brian, praying for you and your family!

Prayers to your family. :grouphug:

Brian I am sorry to hear of the loss your family has suffered today...we will keep you guys in prayer~~

Brian, praying for you and your family!

Thanks guys...

So far DW is doing ok.

We don't know funeral details yet, we are really hoping it is before we leave on Saturday. It would really be tough on her to miss being there with the rest of the family during this loss.

Triple Sec Monday ownage

I will.

Of course, if everyone goes to Harry Potter first .... Tgr express fast gets you in that entrance to all the rides. As for allergies, it sounds like it will be more of a pain at Universal, but they must have it figured out as well - just not as efficient. Looking forward to TR.

What, he caught 5 passes last season? TO may be available.

Is it possible to have a happy Monday? Can you use those two words together in a sentence that doesn't have WDW attached?

Sure, it's Monday and I won lottery.
It's Monday of the week of my retirement.
It's Monday and my nemesis drafted Favre with the first pick.

Thanks guys...

Take care Brian. Hopefully youre DW will get some time to spend with the family.

Morning Gents!

It's Monday and I'm home. It is overcast and very humid here but I'm home. DS wants me to take him golfing, we'll have to see what the weather does.

Wow Andy...that puts a realistic spin on things when you SEE what it realy is like...I guess we can all expect everything that corn is used for to go up in price...man o man... I hope it improves for you by harvest time!!
Yep, pork and beef are going to get expensive. Better stock up on bacon!
Unfortunately, at this stage, corn isn't going to improve. What we've got is what we've got.

Wow Andy. I remember the pics when you were prepping the field. Sorry to hear this season has been such a challenge. Hopefully you can salvage something.
We'll get whatever doesn't fall through the corn head. That's the biggest problem with the small ears. Well, aside from the fact that there just isn't much on them.

It looks bad and prayers that you'll have a decent enough yield. I don't understand the market. I read where the supply of lobster is huge right now, but the cost of lobster has not decreased at restaurants.
I guess my best explanation is to look at gas. It will go up 30 cents at a time, but does it ever come back down that fast?

Uggg... Andy... That corn is not looking good at all.

Can it still be salvaged for corn meal, or corn syrup?
Well, that is actually what a lot of our corn goes for anyway. The elevator I work for is a big supplier for a Tate & Lyle plant that makes corn sweeteners. The kernels themselves look fine, althought a little small... kind of like the ears. The biggest quality issue would be if it has aflatoxin, which is a carcinogen that is caused by a mold that can attack the corn plants in hot and dry weather. If that's the case it could be useless, but since you can't see it, we won't know if it is there until the grain is tested.

Andy, Prayers for you and the rest of the farmers are going through this. Can't remember if you have any beans out but I hope you have something to offset this.
Yes, we have some beans, and they have some pods. As long as we can keep catching a few rains to fill those pods, we should have something positive there. With some luck, as long as aflatoxin doesn't become a huge problem, I think we can break even on our corn acres.

Andrew Luck's first pass (of preseason game against Rams) went for a TD. Maybe David will draft him in th first round of fantasy draft and that can help make up One spot of my horrid draft position.
I don't know why he wouldn't draft him first. Luck is already the front runner for the MVP this season. I saw a local TV reporter this morning talking about his "laser rocket arm." :headache:

Afternoon Gents,

It was a long weekend at Declan's soccer tournament. They ended up losing in the semis and while we were waiting around for the bronze they decided there wasn't suppose to be a bronze medal game, even though the schedule said there was. They played well all weekend even though they had a terrible schedule. First game on Friday afternoon, Saturday at 8 am and then again at 6:30 pm (first and last of the day). Oh well, can't expect a good schedule when you travel outside the Province. What did make it worse was the semi was at 8 am again this morning and our hotel was 45 minutes from the field.

Nice to be home and the bonus is that I checked my calendar for tomorrow and I booked it off as well. Sleeping in on Monday!!!
Well, that's a shame that the schedule was so chaotic, but I'm glad they played well and hopefully had some fun.

Not a chance! I learned my lesson last year. I will draft no star Colts players :lmao:
That's because there are no star Colts players to draft. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

However, my pick is available for taking out other nemesis QB's :thumbsup2
Looks like Tom Brady is going first.

Hello again guys.

Posting from my hospital bed. I got admitted last night since my fever came back after being gone for 4 days so the Dr.s want to run the gamut on me to see if they can figure out what's going on.

I've got an Infectious Disease specialist, Pulminologist (for my pneumonia) as well as the regular attendings who are great. Everyone is baffled and I'm bored. Still getting antibiotics via IV as well as orally. Fever is mostly gone (99 range) but just waiting on tomorrow to see what's next.

Hate the waiting game, but glad everyone is trying hard to figure it out. Fortunately we live only a couple of blocks away so DW and DDs were able to come visit a couple of times today (without getting too bored here).

Watching the Olympics closing ceremonies for lack of other options right now.
Get better Brian! I hope they figure out what's going on soon.

I was evil today. Somebody dropped another dog off at the research farm overnight. I've lost count of how many this is in 2+ years. Cats we throw in the barn. Dogs are a problem. As I am about the only wandering through the holler on a Sunday morning, the dog adopted me as the new master. Fortunately for me late in the evening he wander further up the holler. Even better some of the local kids were kind enough to return him. I was evil enough to tell them he was a great dog and they could have him. :duck: Hopefully their parents will let them keep him. He really was a good dog and only chewed the shoelaces off my boot rather than chew the whole boot. If not, I figure it is somebody else's turn to call the dog warden to come haul off an abandoned dog. The warden doesn't ever respond when I call anymore.

Do I have to turn in my Dad card now?
Why didn't you just yell squirrel and point? :confused3 :rotfl:

The Dolphins are doomed now. They cut Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson from the team after being jailed for head butting his wife. Thanks ocho, we hardly knew you. Don't let the door hit you on the behind as you leave. At least we don't owe you anything.
I feel sorry for you CJ. Your baseball team quits on its fans. One of your 3 so/so QBs is hurt. Your star/has been receiver is gone. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

I'm really glad I'm not a Miami sports fan right now. :headache:

Ok, I guess you do have an NBA championship, but I really don't consider the NBA a sport any more so than the Harlem Globetrotters.

‘Morning all…

2012-08-11_20-24-48_934.jpg

On the way home DS and I walked a corn field and pulled a few ears. The one on the left is close to what an average ear looks like on a good year. It took some searching to find one that big. The rest are pretty small and there are a lot of plants out there without an ear. The one on the right is so small that it probably can't even be harvested. It will probably fall through the corn head. I can usually get a good yield estimate at this stage, but this year I have no idea... I just know it won't be pretty.

A visual that puts the drought into stark perspective…
Prayers for everyone up that way, and good thoughts for the remaining crops.

Thank you everyone for the thoughts. I am very glad that everyone is okay, that it appears that there are no injuries. I freaked on the bus, when letting DW know I was on the way, that Audrey was in the ambulence:scared1: They checked her over, and I'm going to do the three-hour check through the night to precaution for concussions, since the side air-bag deployed and knocked into her. She hasn't had any pain, but there was a little brusing on her shoulder where the belt was.
As for the car, gotta wait till Monday afternoon or so to find out it's fate, when an adjuster etc can have a go at it. DDW got the rental, a dodge Nitro, meh....we might still go with the Marineland plan Monday, we'll see how we feel tomorrow night.
Jo and I just gotta get outta the little funk we're in now. We had finally started turning a corner in a lot of things, includung $$ and might have been set back kinda bites. We really do want a house someday. Other then that things are fine.

Scary stuff. I’m glad that all are ok.
It’s bad enough when I’ve been in a vehicular altercation,
I can’t imagine how it would weigh on my mind if it were the rest of my family.

Not fun. We’re keeping you in the prayer chain down here.

May the medical folks figure this out soon and get you out of there quick…
people get sick in hospitals ya know.

Just got a call from FIL... DW's aunt just passed away... :(

Condolences to you and all in your family.
Loss is never easy to deal with.

Evil?
I didn’t believe you were the one that abandoned an animal on someone else’s property.
Dad Card status remains in force (with extra bacon clusters for trying to solve the problem)

They’re playing the Panthers on Friday.
That’s a near guaranteed win right there.

So you got that going for you… which is nice.

Sorry to hear, condolences to you and DW and fam.

Happy Monday.

Well, after staying home with the kids on Friday because Evan was throwing up all night Thursday, I caught it on Friday evening. I'll spare you the details, but it was not pretty out of either end.
We're all better now though and hoping that no one else catches it before we leave on Friday.

Let's see if I can remember stuff from the last 10 or so pages:

Shawn - have a great time in Disneyland!

Andy - that corn does look pretty rough. Sorry to hear. My brother called a few weeks ago and said he ran out of corn and it's costing him $2000 a week to feed the cows. :scared1:

The Former Canadian Brian - prayers that they find whatever it is, you get better, and can get back to work. Well, maybe not that last one so much, but certainly the first two.

The Current Canadian Brian - sorry to hear about DW's aunt. Prayers for the family.

Norm - the cake looks good. Any left?

Coasting through the week. Airplane leaves for Florida on Friday evening. :hyper::hyper:
