would love to buy a new lens, or a new camera... but not in the cards. Ordered a Kodak Playsport (got it cheap since they went under) for taking some video on the Aquaduck and at Castaway Cay!

Managed to pick up a killer sunburn as well. Did not put sunscreen on myself.

Definitely not a T-ball trophy that everyone gets. Well earned.

Thanks. It was a grueling season and she was on a good team, but she had a great hitting day today and a few great defensive plays the other day. She is the 2nd tallest on her team and the 2nd youngest. She's only going to get taller and stronger.

I have a Nikon D40, which seems so old now. (sniff, sniff.) I love it though. If I do get around to upgrading and those two Nikons you listed were my choices, I'd save myself the $100 by getting the 3100. I think the features are the same. The only real difference seems to be how many megapixels you are getting, and unless you plan on printing out mural-sized photos, the 2mp difference isn't a big deal at all.

I have gotten some very good pictures from my Nikon in Auto mode, so it made for a good starter DSLR.

shift at work is coming to an end. Last time I'll be at this job for a few weeks. Went out with a bang though, doing special coverage of the Colorado tragedy. I avoided watching the news about it because I knew I'd deal with it today. very sad.

tomorrow i have the day off and DW and I have gotten a babysitter and we are going out to dinner at the Melting Pot to celebrate our 7th anniversary.

I spent last night assembling all the keychains for our FE group. I posted the pics on the last thread, but they were probably buried. Here they are again.

That is a fantastic Fish Extender gift!!! We had a blast with that on our two cruises. How many cabins are in your FE goup? We had 39 cabins in June on ours.

I partial to Canons myself, either would be good but depending on your budget you could go for the T3i to get the increase in megapixels and it is a better camera overall.

The D5100 has the best image processor out of all of them, in my opinion. I will warn you. You will find yourself switching between the 18-55 and the 55-300 a lot. I took mine to Disney and was frustrated by switches. Now I have the 55-300mm, 18-135mm, 18-55mm (forsale), 10-24mm, and the 30mm lenses now I need to find a bag big enough for all of that.

I have this kit and started out with that same kit. I recommend it very much you also have the D3200 that came out. Better than the 3100 and if you buy the 40 dollar wireless addon you can send the pics wirelessly to your phone or ipad laptop or even a tablet less than 49 feet away. Increases in Megapixels is not the best thing. The image processor is the most important. But go out get your hands on them. It comes down to the first thing... How it feels in your hands when holding it. Then make your decisions after that.
