I took yesterday off to take my son on the first of several planed collage campus tours. The three hour drive out, several hours on campus and three more back home made for a long day, but it was still very interesting. It was also interesting to spend that much time alone with my now nearly grown boy without the distractions of friends, commitments or video to interfere. His incites and reactions to much of what we encountered yesterday left me feeling pretty confident that we just may have raised a pretty dang good guy. I’ve always suspected we were doing a decent job at our primary task as parents, but now I’m really starting to see all that work being put into action. I’d call that a fine day.

Well said Rob. Enjoy this upcoming year, it is a fun ride. And you deserve it with all the triumphs and bumps in the road you had in raising your son.

I just read that 1 of the injured in Colorado was a 3 month old baby. 1 Why are you bringing an infant to any movie that is starting at midnight? 2 Why bring an infant to a movie like that? 3 Why bring an infant to any movie?

Yours are young yet and you have the teen years to survive first.
If you survive that time frame, the pay off is almost unfathomable.
But that wait can be very had on the nerves.

Aren't those fun times? I almost feel sorry for all you guys with younger kids. Especially the dads with girls. Remember Crash got her nickname for a reason.

Ok, now that we've gone into the realm of meaningful current events in our conversation, I'd like to use this post to pad my count and get us back on track to making meaningless, lighthearted posts as we close this thread out!

I'm in. Nothing really planned for today so why not.

I just hope mine don't turn out as weird as me.

Chances are it skips a generation. Look at me and my kid turned out OK.

I saw that as well, it baffled my mind. I have a hard enough time getting my 11 month old to sleep in a quiet, dark room, never mind in front of a 40 foot movie screen with deafening audio!

Sometimes I think it goes by fast, other days, like softball tournaments, feel like they last forever.

Very sad news out today. Thoughts and prays for all involved. Things like this almost make posting about such trivial things as what’s going on in my world seem pointless.

But then again, Y’all generally ignore what I say anyway so I guess my commentary has been pointless all along. That being the case, you can ignore the following…

If Wisconsin is so damn great why are there so many cheese heads coming over here and setting down roots? Forget the US Mexico border, we need to close the Minnesota and Wisconsin border!

Funny, we have the same problem here in Illinois. Something's fishy with the Frozen One's logic I think.

Hmm...I wasn't aware of a mass exodus from the Badger State, but if there is, I can only imagine it is to get away from all of vacationing out of staters.

On a related note, Racine has a semi-pro football team and we went to their game on Saturday night vs. the Lake Geneva Generals. Bambi leans over to me an says "Lake Geneva is big enough for a football team?" To which I respond "They're all from Illinois."

If that were true, it would be incredible. I find it hard to believe given all the monorail issues they've had in the past few years though. Maintenance for that much track would be astronomical, it seems.

I don't believe it. I've heard estimates of over a $1 million per track mile to build. Once you factor in all of the resorts and parks in that list, you're probably talking conservatively 15-20 track miles through Florida swamp land. Would it be awesome? Yes. Do I think they're actually going to do it? No.

Not to mention we've been to WDW at the same time, what, 3 times now?

I don't believe it. I've heard estimates of over a $1 million per track mile to build. Do I think they're actually going to do it? No.

I'm sure it is more than $1 million per mile at todays prices.

Just look at it this way... if it costs 15 or 20 million to build the 15 - 20 miles of track, I could see them doing it. That is relatively inexpensive compared to other potential projects. I've got to think the infrastructure involved in adding to the monorail track and bringing it to entirely new areas of the resort would easily cost somewhere over 100 mill when it is all said and done.
