Just heard through a anonymous source...

Disney has purchased a contract to start manufacturing materials for new monorail track. They will be adding routes to the MK circuit as well as adding to the Epcot circuit also. Added stops will included: Port Orleans Riverside, Old Key West, Pop Century Resort, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom Park, and possibly Animal Kingdom Lodge.

In this case, his action was COMPLETELY appropriate...smart even.

In the Aurora case, just too much going on...

Haven't read through everyone's comments yet, but the incident in Aurora is sickening. Had a tough time even watching the headlines this morning. Prayers for all affected.

If that were true, it would be incredible. I find it hard to believe given all the monorail issues they've had in the past few years though. Maintenance for that much track would be astronomical, it seems.

To be honest brother, and I'm as Second Amendment as the come, but a concealed weapon could have presented a bigger problem in an incident like this.

Number 1, the guy was wearing body armor...so it was going to take a very well placed shot, and significant situational awareness, under fire, to "stop the threat"--even for well trained guys. (OK Self, center mass didn't have any effect--where do I shoot him now? And then pulling off the shot). That's a little much to ask even of your average street officer.

Number 2, given the chaos and confusion of the scene...the arriving cops may have viewed a legally armed civilian pointing or shooting a weapon as a deadly threat...guess what happens then? More Tragedy. The cops are just as subject to the "fog of war" as it gets.

Now, that being said, if you have a concealed weapons....and have a clean shot...and can end it, then please for god's sake end it right there. JUST MAKE DARN WELL AND SURE SOMEONE KNOWS YOU'RE THE GOOD GUY.

Trust me...even guys like me have to think about this kind of stuff since I'm plainclothes Agent, and not a uniform patrol officer. In a situation like this, a uniformed patrol officer could easily mistake me for a bad guy and make my day go south very very quickly.

Of course, if multiple people had them, it could have ended real quick like. I still advocate carrying--I think everyone should....just remember the situation. This particular even was so chaotic, you don't want to be part of the problem;)
+1 Well said Mike.

I've shot guns at the range before but I don't own a gun. I think people that own guns have a responsibility to KNOW how to handle them. I'm not saying every person needs to be a sniper, but they should not own just to say they own. They should have some skills and the knowledge of a situation where pulling their weapon is warranted.

I can see how someone carrying in this Colorado situation could of made matters much worse.

Prayers to all those people and families involved.

If Wisconsin is so damn great why are there so many cheese heads coming over here and setting down roots? Forget the US Mexico border, we need to close the Minnesota and Wisconsin border! :furious:
.

:lmao:

And Fed, you would probably also recommend the training to use the gun under pressure. Good Law Enforcement are trained in a variety of settings. Not just how to shoot on the range, but how to shoot while walking, shooting with distractions, etc. The average person with range shooting experience and no combat training is not going to react well on circumstances like these. I have utmost respect for you guys.

We think of pressure during championship sport games. It's nothing compared to things like this.

Good point. I'm not a gun person, and won't ever carry one. I do respect one's right to do so, however, with the caveat that you state above, the knowledge of how & when to use one, and to NOT use it, more importantly.

Evidently she actually looked up the definition of nemesis, and the fact that we txt message, are Facebook friends, and are planning to vacation in WDW at the same time does not fit into her definition of the word. She's asked me several times "so, are you friends with him or not?" My response is usually "Tim? I hate that guy. He's my nemesis. I should text him and find out how his kids are doing.":lmao:

:rotfl2::rotfl2: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Not to mention we've been to WDW at the same time, what, 3 times now? :confused3

I can only imagine her reaction when you said, 'Hey honey, I just booked a Via Napoli ADR. I hope you don't mind eating with my nemesis and his wife.' :rotfl::rotfl:

Maybe I've just heard too many rumors to buy it, but I have a hard time believing that will happen. For one, why would Pop Century, a value resort, be on the monorail before Wilderness Lodge? :confused3

Just connecting all 4 parks to the TTC via the monorail would be great though.

Valid points. I own guns, but don't carry. Partly because of some of the concerns Fed voiced about carrying. That and I don't own a gun small enough to carry on my body without attracting a LOT of attention. :rotfl2:

That said, I do own a shotgun and a couple of rifles, I know how to use them and I have the 12 gauge and some shells in 2 separate, but very convenient locations if home defense ever becomes an issue.

Not an envious position to be in Fed!

You summed it up well.

I also heard they are planning "Next Generation Monorails" and there are slight modifications (currently being performed) on the existing monorail tracks, to potentially accommodate new slightly wider monorails

hey gang!

horrible news about the theater shooting. my thoughts go out to the families and friends of all the victims and others involved.

I guess I get lumped into the category of the "some people" who would advocate tighter gun control. Anytime something like this happens I can't help but think, "how did he get these weapons and body armor?"

anyway, not trying to start an argument.

congrats on the lottery commando!!

intriguing news about the monorail system.

and oh yeah,

9 days!
