I get lucky because my family doesn't do christmas, so there's never been any conflicts or drama around that time of year with them. Just with DW's side. unfortunately, DW's family can have as much drama with their 4 people, as my family could do with their 20!

I get lucky because my family doesn't do christmas, so there's never been any conflicts or drama around that time of year with them. Just with DW's side. unfortunately, DW's family can have as much drama with their 4 people, as my family could do with their 20!

I've noticed at family get togethers things that happened in like 1962 get brought up and it turns into a soap opera

It's a rule of thumb to always have a stack of things to dredge up when you get together. Sometimes it's like family get togethers are more about rehashing old memories than making new ones.

Reasons like this are why we severed ties with a lot of DWs family.. except they like to talk ISH about us because when our DD was going through treatment we didn't go to any family functions and never had any people (except mostly our parents) here at our house.

that's one thing I'm looking forward to. At least since we're all on vacation together, and most of my family's first time cruising, it should make for a lot of new family experiences.
