the serious part: I'm a single guy who adopted a daughter. No wife (applaud if you wish but don't feel bad cuz I don't).

The funny part: When I have a **** day at work, DD seems to magically know how to crack me up. Today was a royal **** storm at work. Getting home to a hot house and melted ice cream on the floor because the freezer popped open (probably when I grabbed a juice box to go this morning) did not help. I just hung my head in disgust. DD came in the kitchen and said, "Be strong mommy, it's vanilla not chocolate, so we're ok.". I cracked up. Because of that, she thought calling me mommy was her signature punchline.

Its hump day, and one day closer until the weekend.

I tried to do some workout side yesterday, but it was just too darn hot. So, I worked inside cleaning my computer room that the 2 DD's had destroyed since the last time I cleaned it. Then I was even motivated enough to clean out our least used closet. What was I thinking?

Going to be a busy day today. We are running something called Sport Day. We have about 70 kids between the ages of 7 and 11 coming on for the day. They get to try out six different sports throughout the day. It is always fun to watch them try something they have never experienced. The last one we did here, rugby turned out to be one the the favourites.

Morning guys! A day in the office trying to get caught up since we got rained out of the field. Whoever is praying for rain can quit. Weeds and disease are doing just fine now.

Might tackle an irrigation project in the shop later if I get tired of Powerpoints and grant writing. Nothing in that previous sentence even looks good.

Another day. Somehow ended up an hour early for training session today. I had to stop and get gas so I left early, but must have left really early. Oh well. The AC here is set on 65, so I won't have to worry about anyone falling asleep. It is semifinal softball game tonite. Hopefully, we make it thru to championship game tomorrow.

After our car DVD player got fried we started letting the kids bring their Leap Pads in the car. Only problem is when the batteries die.

I started stocking up on rechargeable AAs and AAAs. This reminds me that I need to put the charger and spare batteries in my box of things to be packed for the trip.

Ah. DISBoards is available again. Finally made our reservations for DDC Convention. Staying 1/10-1/15 at Wyndham Cypress Palms. Had Wyndham points I needed to use and this place has a full kitchen Too bad it's not on property though.

One of the most worn-out stories in our family's history is the time my two brothers were left at home to fend for themselves (both well above the age that they should be able to do so) while we were at WDW. They burnt the macaroni and cheese they tried to make.

I've been tempted to take the kids outside all day. There's been a line of thunderstorms passing just north of us all day. The kids have had enough of each other. I'm debating either taping them together back to back or making a line in the family room that neither can cross to bother the other.

Really? I've got a Japanese restaurant in KY as good as Teppan Edo. They did the ketchup, big cup refill, and straws. We had a great server. Food was average. I don't think either two would make my top 20.

I enjoyed Teppan Edo. We also have a few Hibachi places we've gone to around here. Foodwise, they were all about the same. The TE atmosphere was better though. And perhaps, being in WDW made it a little more special.

We did WCC twice. The first time was actually pretty bad. Got one of the last lunch ADR's and since they shut down between lunch and dinner, there were only 2 or 3 tables eating besides ours. So we got none of the goofiness or interaction. All we got was a skillet of food.

Second time around was better. Food was the same, but DD had a blast, and that was what mattered. Oh yeah, and I had about 3 refills on my milkshake.

Found out that Spam is different in Hawaii. Trying to find a picture from the Honolulu airport gift shop. It was Spam and macadamia nuts. I passed.

A PSA for those with younger kids that will eventually go to college. Seton Hall has got moving into dorms (and getting a few more bucks from parents) to a science.

They sent the kid a flyer that offers the "opportunity" to buy sheets, blankets, towels... from them. It actually worked out cheaper than buying stuff for her down here, so I naturally got the big package. They are mailing it so I get to tote it up in August when I get rid of her.

They sent me an order form for "Care Packages" I can have delivered to the kid periodically during the semester. Good idea but it was a hard sell. One of the things they sent with the order form was a note titled "Students Notice." In it the person pushing this asks a RA, "Do students really get excited about Care Packages?" "Definitely." she said, "But the worst part is telling a student they didn't get a package. They're so sad."

So I guess if I don't order it I am a bad parent. She gets about five a semester so I am going to be a sucker and order them.

This is before I even write a tuition check.

They do this in kids schools now. We have the option of fundraising the amount ($50 for one activity), and if we do, they get a fun day. If not, then they must sit and watch other kids have fun day. No pressure. It's not the $, it's the principle.

Softball was cancelled tonite due to threat of t-storms. They kept seeing lightening in the east, so I told them to look to the West where the was no lightening. Some thought it was funny. So, games postponed to tomorrow and then championship game postponed to Monday. It is the softball season that will never end.

seriously, that is very cute. One day, I was talking to DD about something and I lowered my voice and since we were the only ones home, I then whispered, "Why are we whispering?" DD cracked up and now it's her new punchline for everything.

Short night at work. Usually our show is an hour, but tonight they cut it in half. Out early and home early, and yet here I am, still posting at 1am.

It's officially the 19th here, so that means...

10 Days til we leave for WDW!!

bought my new "Park Bag" today. It's a backpack made by Swiss Gear. It's got lots of pockets and it's larger than the other backpack we had. This thing has to double as both diaper bag AND camera bag.

We also got a new stroller to take. Our umbrella didn't fully recline, and with two kids (not brian) now, we needed to be prepared for both of them needing to be pushed around. Only going to take the new stroller down initially. The old umbrella will follow with the car. I am hoping we can manage two days at the parks with just the one stroller.

another thing we found out was that the park hours were modified a bit for our trip. MK is now open until 11 on our days there, as well as DHS being open til 10 now.

Still need to buy some things. Most importantly is new sneakers. I need a good week to break them in before heading down.

Doing a Fish Extender group for the cruise, and a new family has joined. We thought we were about finished with the gifts, but now we have to do a little more. It's kind of mean to say, but I think I am siding with DW in that I hope there are no more latecomers.

well, should go to bed now, but I think I'll update the TR. want to finish it so I can be ready for the next one.
