We now have 11 owners. Still need one more. The draft is Monday at 9:30pm EDT. Everything is online through Yahoo. Please PM me if you are interested.

Also, I have not heard from a few of last year's owners who have not responded to invites. I will be deleting their teams so I can invite new owners who have expressed an interest.

Finally, only rule which I am compelled to enforce - your team must have a Disney-related name. The more clever the better.

As much as I want to play, I can only manage 1 fantasy baseball team. Sometimes I don't even have time to keep up with that.

you're finally getting your license?? that's great!!

:lmao: Funny thing is that DD may have hers by that time. She has asked about driving part of the route this year. Not sure if I'm ready for that. I'm also not sure if the laws in all states would allow her to drive on a learners permit from VA.

Strangely, it seems that every time we get close to a Disney trip, I end up driving a good distance for a work trip within a month before. :confused3 Found out this morning that I have to go to Allentown, PA tomorrow which is a bit over 6 hours drive from here.

Morning Folks...

Today is my and DW's 13th anniversary....

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Obviously, I’ve been in the city too long (but I got most of it right). All the AC tractors that I’ve run across were pretty faded so they looked kind’a red to me. Now I know (and that’s half the battle).
Most of them are all rust colored anyway!

I was half expecting to hear about a second group that came up to yell at the first group for leaving their kids unattended for a whole minute or two.

Unfortunately, with the advancement of technology and the internet, people worry too much about what others are doing, especially if it is something they wouldn't do themselves. Not only that, but just too much worrying in general. I don't believe that society is more dangerous today than it was when I was growing up 10-20 years ago. We just hear about the bad things more, because that's what gets viewers/readers/ratings, and information is more accessible.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's good to worry about the safety and what not of others, but it seems like its being taken too far more often than not. *steps off soapbox*
What's the culture like over in Korea? Is spanking the norm?

Thanks... (i think)

I thought that what was going on. I knew John Deere was green- I have a John Deere LAWN tractor. :drive:

The only thing I know about International Harvester is that it is a country song. :rolleyes1

And it's a good song too!:thumbsup2

Brian: Happy anniversary!

Andy: those pictures of your DS sleeping in the tractor are awesome. Definitely quality rehearsal dinner material.

Yeah - I don't think we'll be able to get up there since we're renting points. I think you have to be the actual member right?

Nope. As long as you have a reservation booked on points (not through Disney as a cash reservation), you have access to the TOTWL. I was worried about the same thing, but there was no problem at all last may when I stayed at BLT on rented points.

Sweet Eric! Might have to go up there for a couple "night caps". Do they have "to-go" cups available? Or do I need to pack my Red Solo Cup? :lmao:

It's OK. I am in 2 leagues. This one and a money one. ANy more and the wife will be unhappy.

We now have 12 teams.

If anyone else wants to join, I'll need two more teams to join because the league requires an even number.

I will post the divisions once everyone is registered and has their team name.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Please go up there with your Red Solo Cup, just to see the reactions when you require them to fill it up instead of giving you a glass! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I think so, but I'm not sure, honestly. I haven't had a whole lot of interaction with kids outside of school.

What I do know is that they are starting to weed out corporal punishment in the schools. At the first afterschool academy I worked at, if middle schoolers failed their daily quiz, they had to line up facing the wall and one of the teachers would hit them on the bottom with a nice wooden stick. And they weren't usually gentle about it.

At the middle school I worked at two years later, they didn't get hit with a stick, but they had to get into a sort of butt-up pushup stance and stay that way for about 5-10 minutes.

I've seen videos online of some middle school and high school teachers going way overboard and beating the crap out of some students (other students were secretly using their phones to take the videos). It's not the norm, obviously, but it's one of the main factors of the change in punishments for doing poorly on tests or not following instructions.

Hard to multiquote with the phone... 80 acre field takes about 4 hours with that tractor and cultivator. I can do about 20acres per hour.

We use several different modes of action for herbicides, including glyphosate, but we do use others as well. We usually do some no till, but due to the early weed pressure, we figured we would need to burn down and apply residual now, then apply more residual when we plant, or just work it twice and spray residual only when we plant. Even with $4 diesel this was the cheaper option.

Even I can pull that off.

Green = John Deere
Red = International Harvester (or in some cases: Allis Chalmers)
Or if it is the tractor I was driving, red, black and yellow = Versatile.
John Deere is the only "real" brand though. The rest have changed hands more times than I can count. Agco quit making Allis, they only make Massey now, but at least it is based out of Atlanta. Deere it's still out of the Midwest. Case New Holland is owned by Italians...

What dates will you be in NYC?
March 30 to April 2.

Good get. Have a great trip. I still don't get the NY desire. There is an arts school there that has underground tunnels so students don't have to walk outside in winter to go to school. Hmmmm, FL beaches or cold NY tunnels?

According to her, "I know what winters are like up there." Yea but that was when the only thing snow meant was play time. She will know that she can get out of the frozen north on breaks. Think how popular she will be. "I am going home in FLORIDA." Lots of sucking up to see if schoolmates can tag along.

You think we shutdown a thread quickly? Don's daughter will be opening new threads every day and a half if I let Madison on here.:rotfl2:

Now that is funny.

Speaking of which - how are you doing? All healed up or still on the road to recovery?

Good to go. Fatigued a lot still and walking long distances can be a pain (literally) but I will take it. Thanks for asking.

We were still debating. Next time .....
I liked wishes and Hallo wishes from TOTWL.

Love TOTWL. Great view, plus adult beverages.. Heard they expanded the menu the bit.

Yeah - I don't think we'll be able to get up there since we're renting points. I think you have to be the actual member right?

I would check that. You have to be staying there and staying on points. I don't think you have to be a member, just using points. They check resort cards to go up there, not member cards. Worth looking into.

EDIT: See that Eric already beat me to it.

Pretty close. They haven't been called International Harvester in few years. Back in the 80s they merged with J.I. Case to become Case IH, who then merged with New Holland a few years back to become CNH. But he classic red tractor has remained through all of it.

Massey Fuergson also has red tractors, but being from Racine (home of the J.I. Case company) red tractors only mean Case around here.

Allis Chalmers has an interesting story behind it. It was founded in Milwaukee and quickly outgrew it's manufacturing plant. It built a new factory out west of the city a little bit, which became knows as the West Allis plant. As more and more people started working out there, a new suburb was formed and named itself - wait for it - West Allis, Wisconsin! (Although their tractors were more of an orange than red)

Interesting. I see a new PBS Sunday show: Tractor talk with Barry. Can I be your agent?

:lmao: Funny thing is that DD may have hers by that time. She has asked about driving part of the route this year. Not sure if I'm ready for that. I'm also not sure if the laws in all states would allow her to drive on a learners permit from VA.

Having just gone through the DD "Crash" driving thing, you have my sympathy. I let her drive for a bit on longer trips while she had the permit. Florida law is 16, valid learner's permit, licensed driver over 18 in the front passenger seat.

Good luck man.

You know, there are days when I absolutely hate dealing with engineers. If I could just get one straight answer out of any one of them today, I would be a happy man. Instead, I have to comb thru weeks worth of information trying to find the proverbial needle, and its only mentioned one time in all of those docs, and then one in one sentence. Even though its hugely important!!! GAH:eek:

Don't think they would care because you got to hand over the cash either way. Not a bad idea to take one down to have a nightcap in the room.

Make that Tractor Talk with Barry and Andy. Let me work a deal for both of you. Farm life is so foreign to me that it is interesting. My diving buddy from the UK works for a company that sells farm machinery attachments to the big manufacturers in the US and Canada. Next year I plan to take one of the meet a greet trips he takes though the farm belt and Canada.

Four words that get me worked up... "It's in the manual"

I'm pretty sure that they had some disposable cups, but I am not sure if they can put your alcoholic beverage in there. They may have just been for water. Of course, you could always get a nonalcoholic drink in a disposable cup, order a shot, then mix it before you head out.

... I may have a problem...

I already ordered a case of beer and a bottle of scotch for the room from WeGoShop. :thumbsup2

I think we'll be set for the week!

I have found that the general store in the contemporary has some reasonably priced bottles of wine. I'll usually grab one of those on the nights we're going to sit on the balcony and watch wishes (almost every night ;))... Just don't forget to have them open the bottle for you at the store (unless you carry a wine opener with you when you travel...).
