I was doing pretty well on the exercise thing for a while - I'd gotten up to an hour on the treadmill and 1/2 hour of light free weight work (equal to two episodes of hour long TV shows without commercials). Then, I injured my foot and couldn't use the treadmill for a while. And then on top of that, DW decided to clean out the kids' rooms, and a bunch of the cleaned out stuff ended up in the basement encroaching on my workout area.

And then it just became an easy excuse not to get back up on the treadmill.

I'm in the same boat. I was doing pretty well going out running this past year, then developed plantar fasciitis in my heel and couldn't run for a few months. Then I just couldn't get back on the wagon.

So.... tomorrow's LEAP DAY. Anyone have any "big" plans for your extra day this year?

Honestly, if I can get through the day without any emergencies regarding my in-laws or additional stress at work, I'll be happy with that!

Good Evening! checking in while watching the Godfather on AMC.
This, Empire, and Silence of the Lambs are pretty much the three movies that I can't pass up if they are on tv. Godfather takes the cake.
And airlines wonder why consumers rank "used car dealer" and "massage parlor operator" ahead of them in consumer satisfaction surveys. Way to stand your ground!
Hey! Leave us alone!!
It has been 8 consecutive days of 30 min exercise. That is a behavior I hope I can continue. I actually feel good, but still don't look forward to work out time.
When you see progress, it's a big motivation boost. Don't forget to get enough sleep! Good for you!
There in lays the problem. This IS what they think, and… their sales and ratings prove them right. For every fan of “driving” they loose, they gain 5 to 10 novice fans that don’t care about the race near as much as how cool the memorabilia looks when displayed down in their den.

It’s a little like the continued existence of tabloid journalism or the celebrity gossip mill… I may decry its existence, but someone’s out there buying the stuff in mass quantities.

Madison Avenue has “America” pegged. They actually do think we are stupid, they purposely treat us with contempt, and as a society we repeatedly prove them to be correct.
:sad2:
Excellent rant. I agree completely!

My big Leap Day plans... get up, go to work, go to a basketball game. Typical for this time of year.

Good luck with driving school. :scared1:

Hey SwissDog....

I have a few lizards downhere if you care to come check them out:lmao::lmao:

*Reference to a post in the Podcast forums about trivial things "ruining" vacations.:lmao:
Might have to look for this one. Sounds like quality entertainment.

:sad2: And you used to always be the one I could count on to back me up in my hate of running by saying something like the only reason to run is if you're being chased by a bear... or Fed or Chuck Norris.

Honestly, if I can get through the day without any emergencies regarding my in-laws or additional stress at work, I'll be happy with that!
I hope it is a very uneventful day for you.:thumbsup2

It's great until you get to about 202, stay there for about 4 months without quite breaking that 200 lb barrier then give up and gain about 10 pounds back.

Not that I'd know anything about that.:rolleyes1

One good stomach flu and you can break that barrier! You can do it!

The only way I'd do any running, is to stay on the wagon, as in riding on it. :lmao:

So, we're not shutting down a thread?

The interest in that was there for a while, and then seemed to wane and disappear.

I'm happy to start one and see if we can do it... as I still believe it would be a fun, "accomplishment" to add to our ranks of silliness - but the speed in here has diminished the last week or two. So it might not be possible to accomplish.

On a side note, my fishing buddy died yesterday of his cancer. 10 days from diagnosis to final resolution..:sad1::sad1:

Really kind of tearing a bunch of us up...

We're towing our boats and leaving one rod on the deck for the funeral procession.

Sorry to hear that Fed...

:grouphug:

This time, I am seeing results. I really wanted to P90X, but knew I wasn't in shape for that. So, I bought the same guy, Tony Horton 10 minute trainer. I did 1 ten minute exercise for a week or 2 and am now following his calendar of 3 per day. They are killer and I a way harder workout than I have done. I have added an old weight lifting routine I used to do. I have a goal, and when I reach it, I am getting P90X.

I have enjoyed this pace. It's nice to keep up with everyone.
