There in lays the problem. This IS what they think, and their sales and ratings prove them right. For every fan of driving they loose, they gain 5 to 10 novice fans that dont care about the race near as much as how cool the memorabilia looks when displayed down in their den.
Its a little like the continued existence of tabloid journalism or the celebrity gossip mill I may decry its existence, but someones out there buying the stuff in mass quantities.
Madison Avenue has America pegged. They actually do think we are stupid, they purposely treat us with contempt, and as a society we repeatedly prove them to be correct.

Sad fact is, I live an hour and a half from Kentucky, so I went to that one, even though the racing was crap. Not sure if I'll go back or not though.
Needless to say, I also go to Indy. That's a little different, I appreciate the speedway and what it stands for, but the quality of racing on that track with stock cars leaves something to be desired. I'm really disappointed that they're dropping the Nationwide race at Lucas Oil Raceway Park (or whatever it's name is this year). That was an awesome short track to see a race on.

But who am I to argue, I think I'll head out at lunch and take care of that since it will be in the 70's on Saturday.

. That was about as bad as the Fedex truck being at my house when I got home the other AM,(thought I had won the OMDD contest).
My first response to my wife woiuld be: "Boy, you sure seem awfully eager to get me out of the house"
