Monday night ownage.

Dang what a fast moving thread. Miss a week, miss 100 pages.

They're calling for a slushy mix of snow, sleet, rain tonight and tomorrow morning. The way things go here with snow, this event could cause us to be out of school for a couple of days :lmao:

We originally were predicted for snow and ice, now it's down to snow in the AM and rain on Wednesday.

Did you say somethin' Norm? :confused3

:rotfl2:

Seriously though, this thread does move pretty quickly with a ton of conversations at once, but feel free to jump in with any questions/comments/etc... Main DisDad board is good to start a new thread and post a question if you want it to stay on topic, too.

Bravo gentlemen. I do forget to check the sub forum. I also still scroll over to post in the DVC sections and Restaurant boards in the other part of the DIS. I don't find the big scary discussions unless one of you forwards them to me. The only I one I ever found on my own was a discussion on gross things people witness at WDW that ended up being closed. Apparently, people are way more observant or are just great liars.

So, welcome to all of the new dads. Hope that you enjoy this place as much as I do, although I've been so dang busy at work checking in regularly has been rather rough. A couple of weeks ago was my son's birthday and I mentioned a rumored gift; well, the rumors were true. His grandmother (my mother) got him:

3,803 pieces, built it in a week. Really cool stuff. I'll attach some pictures of his final product when I manage to download the pictures.

Very cool...

You are quite patient to get that thing put together. :thumbsup2

Evening all. I'm stuck on the road yet again for another Valentine's Day. But, I did drop off a dozen roses for DW at work before I left today. Then, I arrive at my destination. People are idiots. The hotel must have removed all their insulation or my neighbor has returned to two tin cans and a string for her phone calls. :confused3

I've got one of those on tap for this week as well, but in this economy any job is a good job. At least they still let us pick our own hotel as long as it is under $100 so I won't be at the Super 8.

Well, it's not the Super 8, but I don't get to pick. I'm at the Holiday Inn, which may not be all that much better.

Anyone have any luck "Naming your own price" on flights from this Canadian?

If so, share your story please...

We use priceline all the time. used it on our trip to orlando last july 4th. ended up with renaissance sea world for 60 a night. Worked out great as it was right across the street from sea world. Most recently we went to atlanta this weekend to the aquarium and got crown plaza for $45 dollars. If you do your research ahead of time and use advice of experienced users you can get the area you want and a really nice hotel. We avg saving about 65% off.

just realized you was wanting flights. Its been a while since Ive used it but if your flexible you can usually land a good deal.

Yeah, I've used it for hotels a few times, and got good rates.

I've used betterbidding.com to find the right amount to bid.

But I am looking for some advice on flights.

I just made a request for $165 from Buffalo to Orlando - rejected. But came pretty close.

Yeah I use betterbidding also. I always found that it took patience for the flights. I landed good deals if I started trying well in advance. We have Allegiant air and southwest here so I can fly to a lot of places for a $100 roundtrip easily, so I don't really use it for flights anymore.

I am in Toronto - we have one of the highest airport taxes in the world.

Flying from here to Orlando is around double the price it would be from Buffalo (or even more then 2x). Buffalo is about 2 hours to drive, so we try to fly out of there.

But we also drive occasionally.

With me as the only driver though, it becomes looooong, and monotonous.

I don't wish that long of a drive on anyone! Even my Nemisissy! :thumbsup2

We still drive to WDW. It is 13 hours for us and I would really like to fly, but just can't find a cheap enough deal.

those are some brutal taxes. Before we had the two discount airlines we would drive about the same to either charlotte or atlanta to fly bc of the price.

Made it home to sunny South Florida. Can't find my camera and I-Pod. Hopefully didn't leave them on the plane.

We have Allegiant Air direct flights to Orlando. And, there are even some $29.00 one way flights. Funny thing happens. In our megatropolis town of 50,000, all three high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools have Spring and Fall Break the same weeks. Surprise, the one way flight goes to $229 that week. Any competing airline fails to get their start up before the travel dates, closes before travel dates, or doesn;t fly to Orlando during those travel dates. So, we could drive 2 or 3 hours in several directions to park and fly, but it just hasn;t worked out so far on prices.

I'd like to do a road trip one of these years, but DW wants no part of a 22 hour drive with 2 young kids in the back... So I'll probably just go it alone. :rotfl2:

I'm not looking forward to having to take vacations around daughter's school schedule. Really limits your options.

We leave as the dds get home from school, and then they sleep through the night. So, we only get about 5 hours of them awake.

Another Monday ownage.

Does Crash know how cold it is at Seton Hall?

She loved the cold and snow when she visited me in NY. Living in it may be another matter. We will be going up soon to check out SH and St. John's. She may change her opinion then.

Found the camera and I-Pod buried underneath a suitcase on the couch. My mood is much improved. Will post a couple of pics tomorrow. That is if this thread is still alive.
