My problem is that mid-term exams for DD16 and DD14 will be that week. Would be difficult to go without the family and I wouldn't want them thinking about where I was while they should be concentrating.

We just aren't going to be doing another family trip so soon after our Dec trip. I'd love to go solo ( and probably could) but I'm already catching flack about my 1 (maybe 2 depending on beverage consumption) night trip to sleep in a tent at the Kentucky speedway the last weekend of the month.

By the way... Any dads going to Sparta for the nationwide or cup race?

Oh, it's a concert. I thought it might be more like cherries jubilee... douse the queen in alcohol and set her on fire!

Well, I tend to worry about debt a little more than your average politician. Oddly enough, this will not be a Disney trip.

I hear you. I just seem to lose my head with WDW trips. Still ready to pull the trigger on that short vacation and try to pay for it later.

We already had kids softball that week. My dds can't sit thru a NASCAR race on TV and am afraid they would just whine about the heat at the track. Is this one a night race? I hope the traffic flow has been resolved.

I believe both are night races, and the traffic situation is the reason we're taking a tent.

Actually, I knew a back way in, coming down across the Markland Dam and getting to the track on a 2 lane road, and then I parked in somebody's yard before I ever even got to the traffic jam around the track and on the Interstate. I'm afraid that back way isn't so secret anymore though since they were actually re-routing traffic coming from Cincinnati off of the interstate and to the north to come in that way later in the day last year.

Excellent choice... my favorite thing there is the biscuits and gravy. They're delicious at around 2 am. We used to frequent an establishment known as the Neon Cactus down by the levee area. My apartment was just on the southeast area of campus, so Triple XXX was always a nice little rest about halfway in between on the return trip. And most importantly it was a nice break halfway up the hill.


I've heard great things... still never been there myself. I can't seem to find anybody willing to take me there and pay for my meal.

It was fun checking out some good Indiana food. The one thing about the Triple XXX was all their items are named after famous Purdue people hence the short menu.

Now where would you get an idea like that?

I remember reading about that one when doing my Indiana research...just couldn't make the timing work out to be in Lafayette at lunch time. I guess I'll have to go back, that place sounds great.

It was good. Not a reason to make a special trip, but if you happen to time it right, definitely worth the detour off the Interstate.

Probably not. I'm hoping it is better than last time. That mess really put a black eye on KY's first Cup race.
