Firing up the Catch-up-inator

Was it just me, or did anyone else get just a little excited to see Dave posting right after a post about "the porcelain bus"? Iwas hoping we'd get a rundown of the best toilets to hurl into or something.

The best toilet in such a situation is, I think, the one closest to you. Unoccupied, that is.

Hey! A bit of Disney related news! Booked the airfare for our August trip today. $116 /person each way. Always great when I can fly my family of 4 for less than a grand. :thumbsup2

Also, to get that good rate, we had to fly down on Friday night vs. Sunday. An extra day in Florida, plus saving a few Benjamins? Yes, please!

Definitely a win-win.

Family of four? You leaving a kid in the suitcase or dressing them up like a dog in that commercial?

You just take the 2 best-behaving kids based on the previous month's behavior.

DW has declared no long road trips until he's potty trained. Can't say I disagree with her on that one.

I don't know... In a diaper=no stops. Potty-trained=another bladder to worry about scheduling stops for.

I'm running the first 5k of my 1/2 Marathon training tomorrow. Head over to the Nemesis Challenge thread and give me some ideas for my playlist!

Good luck. We're all counting on you. Except your running nemesis, who is placing trip wires along your route.

In the book I am reading right now: "There is one rule, above all others, for being a man. Whatever comes, face it on your feet."

Well... maybe not your honeymoon... :rolleyes1

I'm glad I live in a dry county.

Perhaps the most surprising thing in a DisDads thread since I admitted I didn't like Cheese Balls.

Top of the morning guys :cool1:

Having an afternoon date with DW to go see the Avengers! :woohoo:

I went last night with DW. Things blow up. A lot. We both really enjoyed the movie.

Close call on being able to go out because our original babysitter backed out with about 3 hours before our planned departure. We were able to scramble and find another one, luckily, on a Friday night.

Morning Duck and the guys,

Waiting for the shuttle to take me to the airport. The day is finally here. Everyone have a good weekend. I will try to give periodic updates if you are interested.

Have a great time, CJ! Please taunt us as often as you like.

My older DD has her first piano recital today, but before that, we've got Pirates: Band of Misfits and lunch on the schedule. It sounds reasonable, but I have a feeling that it's going to feel pretty hectic.

I have posted on one of the many boards and am looking for a DDC number. i like that there is a group for the dads and I feel I more then qualify to be added to your ranks.

5 DAYS 16 HOURS AND 45MIN. ..................
BUT WHOS COUNTING? :cool1::cool1:
Only you Dave. Only you. :rotfl:

Looks like a good pool. I'll let you know who the winner, obviously other that myself, is.
Drunk yet?

I think i am going down the same path - no one has come out yet, but the lines are fine now.

When the tech comes, it also works perfect.

After he leaves, it'll drop.

I think you are onto something though, with the line coming into the house. :thumbsup2
That's what happened at my house. Every time the tech was at the house it was a perfect signal. It started dropping out in the evenings and would last till the next morning. I was snapping on the phone after the 100th call. I'm just glad the last tech they sent really cared and said he wasn't leaving till he found the issue. I think he was here for 6 hours. Replaced all kinds of lines inside, the box on the side of the house, and the wire from the pole to the road. Then he gave me his personal cell # and told me to call him if it happened again and he'd come over even if he wasn't working. :thumbsup2

Does his territory cover Canada? :confused3

Morning all....

Don't know if it was the stress of the situation, or food poisoning, but Thursday night was rough. Still worked yesterday, and
pretty much crashed when I got home.

Work right now is pretty sad. The store is at best now, completely dysfunctional. 80% of the staff are useless now or just don't want to work.

I'd love to get into details, but it;s hard to explain all the issues. Useually I turn to my good co-worker friend, she and I have worked together for 11 years now, and have similar work ethics, hell, she is a harder worker and is grwat at setting up visual displays etc. The manager treats her worse then the slackers (she does NOT kiss ***), capped her hours and she is now frustrated all the time and angry, and kind of given up. She stands a good chance at least of getting transferred, so she'll escape. We still talk and joke, but there is a bitterness now, and I've done all I could for her, but it;s amounted to zilch. Once she goes, it'll be me against the store :stir: Only plus is we SHOULD have a new assistant soon, this one retires in three weeks, and transfers are comming within two months but alas, I likely won't get it now, I'm too vital to the store (in other words, I'm keeping from comming unglued completely, and untill he can train others, I gotta stay).

There are some perks though:

1) I can get away with a lot more thin others, boss has a fear of "losing me" like the others, so looks the other way.

2) I can be incredibly snarky and get away with it, I've made brilliant comments past few weeks. Boss has given me death stares last little while that could burn holes in walls, nothing else done.

3) I'm literally witnessing a nervous/psychotic breakdown in progress from one co-worker (okay it;s not good but fascinating nonetheless to see, if not a wee bit uncomfortable).

4) I get a one day escape to learn about spirits. Tasting, mixology etc. Won't get drunk (believe me, they watch for that kind of thing, and I want to attend the beer seminar this summer)

Morning guys. Just got in from a 7 mile run. 1st mile was tough, then it got good.

Hope everyone has a good saturday.:thumbsup2

Have you applied for that assistant position?

No, no, no... you are thinking BRUINS HOCKEY!

Oh you're welcome....don't lose your lunch on that Leviathan!

If I do, I will send it to ya... ;)

Just by the zerfonics spoken here... I think I am the winner. ;)

Thanks for putting it in perspective.

When did Canada close?

You just take the 2 best-behaving kids based on the previous month's behavior.
.

I tell my kids that I only have enough money to pay for one of them to go to college, get married, etc and that goes to the one best behaved.

Drunk yet?

Had to take youngest to softball. I don't want to be drunkdad. So, your out of the pool.

I have a similar situation at work. New boss came on board 2 years ago. 4 higher senior employees stayed loyal to old boss. One employee is on medical leave, waiting to get fired. So, I get the preferential assignments and perks, like the new reviewer position which include paid travel all over US and counts as work time. Some are jealous. I don't care.

Excellent. I hope to be able to do that in a couple years.

Sure, in about 10 years or so when my seniority would count :lmao:

Oh, there'd be jealousy issues too. I've worked hard to learn and get where I am. everyone can't comprehend that. Whatever. I'm honestly now trying to wrest anything I can out of this before things blow completely..

I really liked the old boss and all but he just let too much slide, and as a result staff think they can get away wth a lot. New guy comes in and tries to stop it, creating ******* and chaos. Too many people are too comfortable there.I don't mind the new guy to a degree, he is trying, and head office is bringing down new rules, but his handling of people is bad, treating the good people like they are the problem, alienating everyone. Easily influenced by kiss-ups.
I've got a hard position to deal with, having been there for as long as I have, the plus I actiually do my job, and have always tried to be fair, that everyone generally likes me and look to me to smooth things over. I don't like playing both sides like this, it;s stressful. The full timers though hate the fact I know more, can do things, get better tasks etc. Sucks to be them.

Well...looks like next year's 1-1/2 week trip has morphed to 3 weeks! We are now seriously looking at going all out, driving down, and hitting Daytona, Seaworld and  Universal:eek: plus the usual Disney palooza. :thumbsup2.

Welcome!! Make yourself at home!

Today is just the prelude to SEIS de MAYO!!

5 DAYS 16 HOURS AND 45MIN. ..................
BUT WHOS COUNTING? :cool1::cool1:

apparently you are.

Sounds good. Looks like you are falling off the wagon. I've had a bad eating week. You can save yourself by having your DW bake 700 cupcakes and mail them to all of us.

That reminds me I haven't updated the weight-loss attempt in a while. Last week, I was down to 217, down 2lbs from the previous week. Yesterday I weighed in at 215.5. It appears that I am slowing down. I had been expecting this to happen. Still way ahead of the pace to reach my goal of 40lbs lost by August 1. To date, I have lost 24.5lbs!! If you had told me when I started two months ago that by my birthday I'd be down from 240 to 215, well, I wouldn't have believed it. It seems like it's time to start working some exercise into my day to keep thing moving along.

As for falling off the wagon, well, it's unavoidable. So far I have survived Easter and DS's birthday party. The ball game tomorrow will be tough, and those darn cupcakes will be another speedbump. All I can do is limit myself (since I can't totally resist) and then get right back on the wagon afterwards.
