I'll give it a shot...a pre-trip report will be started sometime with appropriate links as I beg for support.

Whatever you come up with will be great, especially if it includes pictures. Don's been working on his trip report so long that ...... Well, we really don't even know how long it has been at this point. I'm staying with the live reports as long as my technology keeps working.

Quotes from classic Nicholas Sparks' films? Maybe some scintillating dialogue from the Twilight movies?

You could try, I suppose, but nobody in this group would recognize them. Except maybe middlepat. :stir:

Yeah... had to google the Nicholas Sparks thing. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

If Mark had used those films for his movie quote competition TR, I think the results would have been very different. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Good point. If you take too long, you will have crickets and pirates take over your TR. Just giving you fair warning. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Ahem.... I'm not going to dignify that with a response. Well, I guess I jsut did. Oops.

I had to google Mr. Sparks as well. I still am not completely sure what he's done, but I figure it must not be that important as I saw no reference to beer, bacon or hockey. :rotfl2:

I'm figuring I can start with a pre trip report to break the ice and establish myself as a writer to avoid or to watch, and then when the inevitable barbs come out I can cry like a baby.

In addition to my duties teaching math and physics, every other year I teach a Critical Viewing class where we watch movies and discuss the worldviews expressed in the film, trying to get our students to do more than just watch for entertainment, but to think about what it is that they are feeding their minds with. I routinely threaten the young men who are considering taking the course with a series of Nicholas Sparks films - The Notebook, Dear John, The Vow, A Walk to Remember, Message in a Bottle, etc.

I took Native Americans in the Cinema during my senior year at college...

Second best class ever, just behind History of Rock n Roll in Society.

Some prayers today guys. Youngest dd has dermatologist appointment and has a cist in arm. I thought today was a consult, but DW thinks they will cut it out. I told dd they were just going to look at her arm to make her less nervous. I better give her the news.

Prayers that the shot will work :thumbsup2

Got back from WDW last night. We had a blast. Noah and I placed 13th out of 180 mens teams in the everest challenge. The late night party was great, He's already talking about doing it again next year. We stayed at Dolphin and at AKL this trip. We were really impressed with both resorts.

Welcome back :cool1:

Nice to know that Purdue offers those easy classes :confused3 I had to take real classes at IU....sheeesh. Volleyball officiating is so much tougher than those cream puff courses you listed :lmao:

I have not seen any of those, but wasn't "Message in a bottle" a Van Halen or Van Hagar song?

Where did you take them after the movie ended? I just couldn't resist.

We are home. They gave her an injection in the cyst. It should reduce the size, which will reduce the pain. She has a follow up in a week. The next option would be surgery to remove. I hope the injection works.

When they gave it to her, she squeezed my hand and i could tell she was in pain. She did really well. The nurse has a child 1 year younger, at same school (only 1st grade) & who plays in same soccer league. I was ready to send my angel back to school, but she starting playing up the pain and ended up getting to stay home. She snowed them good. So, i got to stay home the rest of the day and went to Japanese Hibachi for lunch.

Thanks again for the prayers.

Glad to see that it was quick and cut-less. Prayers that this works.

Toughest thing a dad has to endure is when his child is hurting and all you can do is hold their hand. As to being snowed, good for her. Just watch it when she gets older.

Sitting on the balcony...sitting at the pool....sitting at the pool bar...pace yourself, CJ, you don't want to overdo it...

Really tough day today. Did laundry. Between getting refills at the pool bar of course.

Last live report unless I can figure out an easy way to post pictures.

I think I need to start doing research so that I can properly prepare a trip report for our visit coming up in July. I didn't know about you guys on any of my previous trips so this is uncharted territory for me.

A couple of suggestions. One, lie if it enhances the story. Like today when a Zebra broke into the lobby and was headed to a small child and I had to wrestle it to the ground. Two, do not include math and physics questions in the report.

Excellent result in the EE Challenge. I am signed up for the Tower of Terror 10Miler in September and the Half Marathon next January. Those races do get pricey, but it's a good motivation to keep working toward the races if you've spent a lot of money on it. Those also sound less fun than the EE challenge.

I am also a big fan of AKL. It's such a great resort.

So, I've been without a voice for about 4 days now. I got sent home from work yesterday when the CEO overheard me talking to my boss, and told me to get out. Can't argue with the CEO, right?

I have found that parenting is a bit harder if you aren't able to speak above a whisper. On the healthy side, I have had to walk more stairs to address my daughters instead of just yelling for them to get to where they need to go. On the bad side, I have occasionally had to knock on walls to get the girls' attention when they've been arguing with raised voices.

Hopefully back to work with a semi-functioning voice tomorrow. And conducting a lot of business via email.

Thanks. Very happy.

I knew she was playing them. I can take a day off from schools.

Can you email pics from your phone?

I had parents that were yellers, and I just assumed you yelled all the time at your children. Now, I found things are much calmer when I don't yell. But, old habits are hard to break.

And here I thought going onto the night shift would be good this week. :sad2:

Every little thing that could go wrong...did. Boss took some of my staff for the day shif, and "forgot" to call in the replacement he penciled in. :headache: A customer fell in the store, had to take care of that.

The topper was though, one of the staff we've had issues with, even to the point we came up with a plan to deal with him when it came up, completely blindsided me, by having a customer (we know they are friends) completely take me to task how we overwork him. I was speechless. Humiliated.

This guy does nothing but ONE job in the store, then complains he has to do it. Then has a customer tear a strip out of me, and plans to take it further up.

I can deal with co-workers, no probs, but I CANNOT WIN AGAINST CUSTOMERS. No way, I am getting railroaded.

Pretty much sat in the office the rest of the night. I Sent emails to the boss (not there the rest of the week) and the "bigger boss" explaning myself. I am done though. I have no spirit left to fight this beverly.

Sorry guys, I needed to rant here (I've ranted alot lately, I know).

I'm sorry, Brent. Hang in there.

Question for you guys:

Yes, of course it's about food. We're headed down to Myrtle Beach this summer, and I was looking for dining suggestions, especially things that might be a little off the beaten path/less crazy crowded/actually good. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

I hate it when my kids are hurt, so I agree with that part.

Wow, I'm glad you were able to save that child. So do you think that your angular velocity as you were wrestling the zebra to the ground was greater than 2pi radians per minute??

Love it when the big boss tells you to go home or do something that you've been trying to rationalize against doing! Good luck with your voice coming back.

I think I am the only one in my family to never have been to Myrtle. I have a cousin who lives there so I can probably get some recommendations from him if the guys here come up empty.

I did some Critical Viewing in my high school days but it wasn't movies I was watching and I best not comment on what I may have been filling my mind with :rolleyes1

Obviously I should have paid more attention though because if it wasn't for a smiley I would have ended the previous sentence with a preposition.

Sounds interesting. I took Earthworm Biotechnology. Who knew there there was that much to know about worms?

I have not seen any of those, but wasn't "Message in a bottle" a Van Halen or Van Hagar song?

The Police

Hey DIS Dads...was a crazy day. Still not 100% on if DD has Hand-Foot-Mouth, but still has the red bumps on feet hands. To make it better, she is cutting several teeth as well. Slobbering on everything she gets her hands on as well. One of those days. Needless to say, I got a ton of sleep last night and got a ton of work done today. :headache:

:surfweb: Just brewed my 3rd mug of coffee...I wonder if I can make it to 9pm :faint:

I mowed the jungle yesterday, rained again. I think I may just plant rice or cranberries! Oldest DD started the HS gymnastics program at the Gym last night and is enjoying it. I think because she is hanging out w/ the older girls. In the Xcel program she was in, there were several younger less mature that she didn't care to listen about their complaining. This should go well.

Hey, I saw we broke 100k posts! :woohoo:
