Congrats on the milestone, Don. Great timeline pictures of Emma. I'm sure there was some dust in the air thinking about 2500 days ago and 2500 days to the future.Wow... 2500 posts. On New Year's Eve. On my daughter's birthday. Seems I am obligated to give a small speech... now where did that soap box go?
Uh hem... 2500 days from now would be the date Sunday, November 4, 2018. By that date Emma will be 15... getting ready to turn 16I'm pretty sure she will be a good driver... aggressive, but good
Rewinding 2500 days puts us at Friday, February 25, 2005. Here is a picture of DD from then:

Crazy. Life keeps moving on. I look back in 2011 and see milestones passed, tragedies unfold, and countless blessings given not just to me, but to our family as a whole. Having you guys around makes it easier to share in each of these.
Here's to an awesome 2012!Unless the Mayans are correct, then it's the worst year EVER!

Do what my dad did. Hang a shotgun over the doorway. Anybody who walked into the house walked under it going in and out the door. All the boys in school with my sisters knew about it.Well, it happened. The worst thing ever (not counting the Mayans),
a boy called my daughter on the phone.![]()

Now, there are a two neighbor boys that stand on the sidewalk in front of the house in the AM and compete to walk my daughter to the bus stop. But, I was not ready for the phone call. For her 10th birthday, she was wanting a tablet so we bought her the Kindle Fire (since DW likes it so much). Now, she's talking about having an email and Facebook account. Ahhhhhhhh!
I can be there in an hour and a half!Morning guys, and Happy New Year's Eve...
I made Apple Cider Donuts and BACON this morning for the kids.... mmmmmmmm. If you hurry on over, there might still be some for you - though the bacon has been going very, very quickly...

To all of those who have had a peanut Beverly 2011 and those who have had a Jasmine's Necklace 2011...I wish you an even better 2012!
Happy New Year, DISDads!
Pretty big uproar here in Shelby County yesterday. A 15 year old boy was shot in the woods about a mile and a half from my house. He was from Michigan visiting family over break and they were going to play paintball in the woods. Somebody heard a noise and thought it was coyotes and fired off 15 rounds from an assault rifle into the woods without confirming what they were shooting at. My cousin is on the FD and had to respond to the call. Said the kid was shot 3 times and the damage made him nearly unidentifiable. Just a sad story, especially this time of year.
And the flood gates are open... first the phone calls, then a movie, a school dance... then I don't wan't to see your face with what comes next.
My daughter told me she wants an iPhone. I told her she could have one..... when she get's a job, and can pay the monthly bill.
She also told me she wants a Facebook account, because one of the kids in her class got one. I haven't set that up for her yet... but on that topic - how do other Dad's feel about their kids having a FB account? What age? Do you monitor? How do you monitor it?
From a matchup standpoint, UK has more talent. And, given that UK beat UNC and UL lost to Georgetown, it would seem that UK is more prepared against tougher opponents. But, when it comes to in state rivalry games, there is no telling. I've seen both teams win when they shouldn't have. But, the pick this year is UK. There is just way too much talent to overcome.
I've seen that shirt before, but it is not effective on the phone call. I've thought of cleaning my shotgun on the first date pickup.

Yeah it was shameful. But I got caught so it's irrelevant.
I'm going to hide in my corner now.

I'm not against owning guns, I have some myself, but there needs to be an IQ or idiot test before anyone is allowed to fire one. If you can't see what you're shooting at, don't pull the peanut butter trigger.
