Had 67 DVC points to use before June or lose them. Just called and snagged a studio standard view at AKV May 6-11 for 65 points. Solo trip and my Christmas present to myself. The remaining 2 points are in holding so they are unusable and will be gone anyway. Why? I don't know. First time I ever lost points.

With the HI/CA trip that leaves me with 0 points for 2012. But, I can always borrow from 2013. Looks like I will be using them more wisely for the next couple of years. I know it is tough stepping down to a studio but I don't expect many tears being shed over that.

Nice usage of DVC points! Great to have an excuse to stay at AKL!

Hey Ethan

Night 2 of Hanukkah.

Both the kids got a new 3DS. They are very excited.

Last night, I gave one a 3DS, and the other a game - I told them they have to share, and not fight over it.

They seemed ok with that idea... :lmao: I shoulda returned the other. :rotfl2:

But tonight, we gave them both there gaming unit.

My son did a victory dance.

That's just cruel.

No no... they got a game tonight as well.

So far Phineas and Ferb and Club Penguin.

There are 4 more DS games to come (shhh don't tell them ;) ) :

Super Mario Land 3D
Mario Cart 7 3D
Star Wars III 3D (I think)
Super Monkey Ball 3D

As well, they will be getting 2 more Wii Games:
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Paper World

Remember this Holiday season if you see Mr Hankey or The Underpants Gnomes you probably had too much to drink:lmao:

Brian, my son said he would like to have a little Bday party this year in WDW for a cupcake or ice cream, so far your kids are on the top of the invite list:cool1:

Yup!

I think we are 8/19 - 8/26

:thumbsup2 Treats are on me (probably at Main Street Bakery):goodvibes

I'm glad he said he wanted a little party at WDW, now I have some things to plan, I'm going to try to get the Dapper Dan's to sing Happy Birthday to him while we are getting our haircut:banana:

We've got about 150 mile (each way) drive ahead of us on Saturday. Most of my family is still in the area where we grew up, so we usually end up driving to all of the family get togethers. Of course, with Ryder being due 3 days after Easter, we're making every come down to our place. :thumbsup2

Happy Birthday Ethan. Has he been asking about his birthparents much?

He has not said anything for a while. I let him bring the subject up. I just don't know how to bring it up if he doesnt.

New to the threads. Just thought I would say hi and am looking forward to reading and getting involved in the discussions on here.

Welcome aboard Nick..we also have a facebook group that we use and get to know each other really well. come over there too if you are a facebooker....Look foward to seeing more posts from you!!

In order of importance:
Happy Birthday Ethan.

Are you sure you are straight on what day it is?

Most of the family (I have some cousins living here, but saw them last at my Uncle's Funeral) live in Southern California, so it is just the 4 of us. When the girls were younger, Dmil came up often for Christmas. For the last few years I was able to get the week after Christmas off and since Boeing is closed (with pay) we would go to Florida or California.

I am fairly certain the birth parents think about him still. I have some friends who had no choice earlier in their lives and gave a child up. They know it was the best, but think every year around the time of the birth and around Christmas what might have happened if...

I would think that they would always have that what if....If it was me in the situation I think I would think about it all the time... I just dont know and I guess you really have no idea unless you are in the situation.

Steve, congrats on the Herd win. Entertaining game. Great story about Ethan and happy birthday to him.

It will be just DD and me for Christmas. Family is in far flung parts. We will house hop to neighbors and friends sometime during the day. She is having fun during the break diving around playing with friends.

Thanks for the congrats to the Herd!!! Now that footbal season is officially over...it is time to focus on basketball.. I am hoping that they break inot the top 25 this season at some point.

Steve, I thought I multi-quoted you in here, but it didn't show up... anyway, Happy Birthday to Ethan and thanks for sharing the story. Have you been in contact with the birth mother at all over the years?

I had a cousin who had a little girl almost 7 years ago now. She had to give her up for adoption to a wonderful family. They've been great about sharing pictures of Claire as she has grown and they've even let my cousin see her a few times over the years. I know every adoption situation is different, but just
!

With Ethan we have not heard anything from the birthday father since the day we left the hospital...His birthmother called Shari on the first Mothers Day...and his first Birthday and then that was the last we have heard from her...I forgot to mention that the day we left the hospital with him she gave us a journal that she had kept from the time she found out she was pregnant until that day. She made notes of every time she went to the doctor and every time she had called us during the pregnancy and most importantly she explained in her own words and handwriting why she made the choices that she did. This was a very intelligent lady (30 years old) and she had her act together. I was very impressed with her and would love to know how her life has turned out.

Laurens birth parents have never contacted use. The birthdgrandmother has sent e-amils to us and we will send pictures to her now and then as I promised them we would do. The send both kids christmas and birthday presents so that there is no partiality shown to Lauren that Ethan would question. Lauren only know of them as friends of Mom and Dad, but that is all. I have saved every card they have sent to her over the years so that she can have some sort of connection to them if she wants if when she is older. I have questioned if that is a good idea of not...I just dont know...sometimes you just dont know what the right thing is. Both adoptions are stories of miracles that I love to share and show how God had his hand in the process of both of them coming into our lives!:thumbsup2

Good morning Dads :cool1:

Half day of work, then our company Christmas lunch. Four day holiday weekend is looking good. No snow here in Indianapolis

I hope Aaron and any of the other dads in the plains states are safe after the big storm.

That's awesome, Brian! Nice work! My kid laughed hard at that (but thought it was a little mean...)

Those 3DS are nice, even without the 3D, they are a nice piece of hardware. Take 'em to the parks at Disney when you go. Lots of good "street passes"

PPT this am. Wish us luck! By this time last year, we had to have 4 of these already (& are probably the last family in the school to have their mandatory meeting), so we're doing pretty well!

Steve I thought of this this when you brought up Ethan's question. My thought was: " We have a Great and Wonderful God. He is so Wonderful that he gives little Babies to Mothers and Fathers to love and care for. He is so Great that when the Mothers and Fathers can't do ether, he moves Heaven and Earth to give the Babies to Mothers and Fathers who can!"

You are both welcome, it was my pleasure to do this. :)

Steve asked a good question on where we're spending Christmas. We're staying home and everybody is coming to our house. My sister who lives in California and her son are coming too. She lost her husband last year about this time, so I made her come out here to Celebrate with us. We had such a Great time we made it a tradition.

Well Dads, it's becoming DISDads lite around here, so let me say:

Happy Hanukkah!
Merry Christmas and a
Heathy, Prosperous and Happy New Squirrel!

Checking in....

2 more days of work! We actually are closed on Christmas Eve, which is a blessing.

Unfortunately, we're right back at it on Monday!

So, normal two day weekend for me.

But, tomorrow we have our Holiday potluck here at work. Lots of food and constant munching all day while pretending to do work! :thumbsup2
