DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Wow it sounds you guys are all doing very good!

Ive been sick with the stomach flu for 4 days:sad1: but today Im back and ready to get moving again!(I lost 4lbs:) ...to bad its only water weight!:lmao: )

I was thinking of trying to train to run a 5k hear in Mich. this summer. How far schould I run every day to be abel to do this?

Right now I only run the commercials (on the tread mill) Ive always wanted to do a 5k and I think it would be a great rewarding experience to loose this extra 25 lbs and be abel to run a 5 k.

Any suggestions would be great! Thanks Nettii

Well, I'm not the best help, as I don't run much. I do walk, though. For the half marathon, I tried to keep my pace to a 15 minute mile.

Good luck! I did my first 5K in October, and it was a fabulous experience!

I have to admit that I am not a runner, but here is a link to Hal Higdon's website that a lot of runners referred to over on the WISH board when I was reading up over there last year. He has info for training for different length races and walking or running.

I weighed in today!

Good news! I lost my first 2 pounds!!

Last week...nothing...this week 2...I'm so happy :goodvibes and encouraged.

I did really good all day as a result!

Hal's is the site I was going to refer to as well... definitely my favorite resource! He was at the expo as well, seems like a great guy!

WTG :cheer2: It is such a wonderful feeling to see the scale go down! I weigh in tomorrow, keeping my fingers crossed.

I am down 2 more pounds this week! I am at my 1/2 way mark for my 1st goal! My weight loss seems to be going slow, but I know this is because I do not exercise enough & I still don't drink enough water. But as long as the scale keeps going down, I will be happy :yay:

That's excellent. I also heard that the less weight you have to lose the harder it is...but I don't know if that's true.

Keep up the good work :goodvibes

You are doing great, Janet! Just remember that 1-2 pounds a week is just right! You don't want to lose it too fast. 1/2 way to your first goal is wonderful!

My Dad sent me an email with several weight loss/exercising cartoons and I thought that you all might like some of them:

Janet, you are doing great!! 2 lbs a week is actually a very good rate of weight loss. Like others have said, you don't want to be losing more than 1 - 2 lbs per week.

Tia, thanks for the cartoons. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks Ellen! I keep thinking of all the yummy food I will be trying while in Europe, I will probably gain it back. I have visions of croissants & crepes in my head :rotfl:

But if I do, I will start all over again. I am determined! You all are such a big help, thanks for being here :goodvibes

Well I have to admit that even when I am dieting I usually gain a little when I am on vacation, just don't overdo it too much, and get back on track when you get home. But you can't deprive yourself on vacation, there are just so many yummy things to try!!

Question for anyone tracking their food counts (points, cals, whatever)...

Do you ever feel like you must be missing something because the counts are going to well? In looking back, since Day 4 I have been consistently falling within my calorie range. Most days it isn't even a struggle to do so. Many times when I put in my dinner I feel like I'm missing pieces since the numbers associated with the meal as very reasonable (cals, fat, etc). Or maybe it's just been so long since I consistently cooked meals and watched my portions that it is just surprising. I don't know what it is, but I will say that it's encouraging. I really don't know what I'm trying to say so I'll just leave it at that.

Yeah everybody on the losses...........
Nettii...hope you are feeling better & good luck on the training.
Cobra those first few pounds always feel great!!!!
Janet.....slow & steady wins the race.
I weighed in tonight & lost 3lbs this week. I have been gaining & loosing the same 4 or 5 lbs for about 2 months now....so I am hoping this is a start back on the consistent downward trend. I am almost back to the lowest I had gotten which was 45lbs total lost. I am making a new commitment to get back on the excercise again....last night I walked the dog over a mile in the COLD & I vow to either walk or get back on the FIRM 3 times a week again. I know I feel so much better when I am doing it...so why is it so hard to get going?????
I loved the cartoons thanks for sharing Tia.

I know exactly what you are saying. I was just thinking about this tonight. I have been doing well staying within my calories allowed & it does surprise me. Yes I am doing without alot of the junk that I was eating, but I am replacing that with healthier options. I was thinking that I must be doing something wrong lol But I put in everything I eat, so I know it is correct. Sparkpeople is really helping me, along with everyone here!
