DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Well, I almost forgot again this morning, but I did weigh in and had an 8lb loss since 1/2. I know a lot was water weight, etc, but it did my spirits a lot of good. I've been on track with calories the last few days and am 10 for 10 on eating breakfast and drinking my water.

My goal tomorrow is to actually remember to get out my new pedometer so that I can start tracking my walking and exercise.

Glynis glad to hear you had a great time, but most of all CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

There was never a doubt in our mind that you would not make it.

WDW was fabulous!! I was so worried about the half! I don't mind telling you that I didn't think I would be able to finish! However, I managed to finish in 3 hours and 27 minutes. I even have the Donald Duck medal to prove it! I was so proud of myself! It was an experience that, next to marriage and having my kids, is the proudest of my life. I really feel like I can do anything, now!

My husband, Alan, did the half too, even though he really hadn't trained much for it. I worried about him, but he finished as well! It really made him want to do more training.

We had some wonderful meals at WDW, too! Our favorite was WCC. That was the night before the half. I ordered the meatloaf, and ate only about a third of the serving. It was so delicious!!!!! I took the rest home, and was able to eat some of it in the morning before the half, and the rest after we were done.

We stayed offsite, and had a full kitchen. That made it so much easier to be good at eating choices. For breakfasts I had sugar free oatmeal with skim milk. We made hamburgers for dinners, and ate mostly CS for lunches. We ate at Cantina de San Angel at Epcot, and it was really good! Alan and I also shared a chicken flatbread at Seasons that day. Yummo!

I was so worried about all the eating that we did while we were gone, and I really didn't want to weigh in yesterday morning. I did, though, and was so excited to see an actual loss of half a pound from the day we left for Orlando!!! Guess all that walking, plus the half marathon really helped me out!

I'm back on track with the exercising, as well. I did 35 minutes on the treadmill yesterday, along with situps before bed. I'm planning on another half hour (or longer) on the treadmill this afternoon. I can't wait for it to warm up some so I can go back outside for my walking!

Keep up the good work everyone! I'm so proud of all of us!!!!!

Hi Jennifer! Congratulations to you & Kyle :cheer2:

Hello! Well, Kyle and I started eating right again yesterday. No cheating, great choices, etc.

And today I haven't eaten a darn thing since a granola bar at 5am because I have the nasty stomach bug that's apparently an epidemic around here. Blech!

Congrats to all of you who are losing! I pretty much stayed right where I have been for the last 6 months. That's frustrating to me since we trained for the half, etc and didn't really lose anything... but at least I'm lighter than when I started last January, even if just a few pounds!

I hope to post more regularly soon. Keep on keeping on! :goodvibes

That is awesome Tia, WTG!

Sounds like everyone is doing very well!! Congrats!!!!!

I fell of the wagon yesterday & today. I am going to stick with it tom'w. I have to remember that by summer time I will feel so much better & be healthier & that is the goal. I can't lose sight of that!

Goal: Stay with in my ww points range & drink my water..no diet soda for awhile. Have to get back on the treadmill!

Yeah Glynis & Jenn....what a wonderful achievement doing so well in the 1/2 marathon. Here's some Donalds to celebrate with since you got your Donald medal. :donald: :donald: :donald: :donald: :donald: :donald:
Glad to have you both back. :goodvibes:

Way to go Tia...:thumbsup2: How awesome is that loss!!!!

Welcome back Beth!!!! Great to see you back.

Day by day Anne Marie that's the way I have to do it too!!!!

Hey, everybody...as always just keep swimming :fish:.

Hi, I'm new, and trying to lose 40 lbs, optimally by the end of the year, but right now I'm just focusing on the first ten.

Mostly, I'm cutting down drinking pop. I'm completely addicted...it's hard. Also, eating healthier and excersize.

So far it's been 5 days with no soda, and 3 out of 5 I've been excersizing.

Welcome to the group!! Focusing on it piece by piece is a great idea. I think that your goals and plan are very reasonable...great things for success. Can't wait to get to know you better!

Welcome! You are off to a great start. Sweets are my downfall, but so far I am doing ok with it. Today at work, my manager brought in a package of chocolate chip cookies. These are my favorite, but I was good & did not have any, Then before I left work one of the gals brought in chocolate covered strawberries :faint: Oh how I hated telling her no thanks, but I did!

Keep up the good work, you will get there :thumbsup2

Hope everyone had a wonderful week!

I have been very good about watching what I eat, tracking my calories, trying to drink more water, & I have even been exercising some. But for some reason I just do not feel I am going anywhere this week. I really hope the scale shows differently. Anyone else feel like this?

I know losing weight is not an overnight thing, guess I was just hoping for quicker results. I will just have to keep plugging along & hope for the best.

My week hasn't been great either. I really haven't exercised and I had a bad day food wise yesterday. There was a reception after the funeral and I ate things that I normally would not have. I am back on track today so it will be interesting to see how one bad day effects the whole week. I think it is also water retention week so that won't help matters either. I just need to keep a positive attitude and take it one day at a time, afterall this is the first day of the rest of my life. I need to make good choices today :thumbsup2

Everyone is doing great---hang in there and keep it up!

This week hasnt been that good for me--ive been eating alot of meals at the hospital's cafeteria, and they arent the healthiest...ive been so tired since im at the hospital all day so i havent even exercised...

You have a great attitude, and you are exactly right! Just do the best you can, despite all these added stressors, and then take it from there once you are through them. Hang in there! :grouphug:

Tink2020 (Jennifer) - Congrats to you and Kyle!!! I'm so sad that I didn't get to meet you! My phone was acting so awful, that I left it behind at the half. I'm so proud of you for finishing and doing so well! We'll just have to plan another time to meet up! How are things going for you work wise? I've been wondering a lot about you!

Tia - Congratulations on the 8 pound loss! That is wonderful!!!! You are doing so well, and I just know that you can accomplish your goals!

Janet - Don't get too discouraged. There are times when you can work out, eat well, etc., and not see too much change in the scale. Keep in mind that you are also building muscle, and that affects the numbers. You are doing so well, and keeping such a great attitude. I don't know how you could turn down chocolate covered strawberries, so I tip my hat to you!!!

Cobra - Welcome to our group! I'm so glad that you are joining us! Please let us know how you are doing so we can support you and celebrate with you! Your goals seem really achievable, so we are behind you 100%!

Well, I accomplished my goal of exercising for 30 minutes 3 times a week. On to week 2! I'm dusting off my aerobics tapes so I can vary my workout between walking and aerobics. I need to shake up my routine, and not get myself stuck in a rut!

Thanks everyone for being so supportive and welcoming me to the thread. :goodvibes

I did bad last night and had fried chicken, but it's the only unhealthy thing I've eaten all week, and 7 days now with NO soda :yay:

Tomorrow is my first weigh in (every Monday) I sure hope that I lost a pound this week, but if not I'll try again next week.

Thanks again, and everyone else keep up the good work :thumbsup2

Well I'm back! From WDW and back to the weight loss thread... I lost 15 lbs last year between Jan. and April, and then I gained it all back between April and now, so I need to start again. I am going to follow weight watchers, because that has worked best for me in the past. DH is going to try to lose weight too, but he won't follow a specific plan, just eat healthier, and smaller portions. That works for him, especially if I am cooking healthier meals for my weight watchers program, and serving him appropriate portion sizes for dinner.

At least I didn't gain any weight during our 9 days on the meal plan at WDW, and we walked a lot (not compared to the marathoners :) ) but a lot for us. We want to keep up the walking at home, either outside, or on the tread mill when the weather doesn't cooperate, and DH uses the bow flex. I would like to work on doing the exercises that the chiropractor prescribed when I hurt my back, and use the exercise ball. There are actually some pretty good exercises I can do, just need to motivate myself to do them, 3-4 days a week is my goal on that, plus 5 -6 days a week of walking.

I have surgery scheduled on my other leg on March 8th, which of course will prevent me from walking for about 3 weeks, but then I will be able to start again, and should be pain free. My goal eventually is to be able to walk a half marathon like I had wanted to do this year. Not sure if we will enter a formal one or just do it on our own, but our goal is to be able to do it.

I started back on weight watcher points today, so weigh ins will be on Sundays for me.

Congrats to everyone else who is doing so well!! I hope I will stick with the plan and lose right along with everyone else. And maintain this time.. that is my biggest problem.

Glynis -- congratulations to you and Alan, too! How exciting :goodvibes So what wave did you start in? Were you in C with us? I wondered all morning where you guys were, if you were nearby! :)

ETA: Work is fantastic! I started my new job on December 1st, and I couldn't be happier going in every day. I hope you guys are doing well!

Cobra I think you are doing a great job! No soda all week is great & not an easy thing to do. So don't be down on yourself for one bad day, be proud of how well you have done all week.

Thanks everyone for being so supportive and welcoming me to the thread. :goodvibes
