DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Hey ya'll. It is so good to see so many people posting. I haven't had to read so many posts in a long time.

I went to my meeing tonight. I am back down 2.5lbs of the weight I gained on the cruise & over the holidays. It feels good to be back on track & headed back in the right direction. :goodvibes:

Plan on getting back on the excercise plan tomorrow night. The Firm...here I come again.

Hey Glynis & Jennifer & anybody else I might have forgotten before I forget....Good luck this weekend in the 1/2 marathon. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Ok, day #1 down..I can do this, right?????

Well actually it wasn't that bad. I stuck to my points & ate well & I am not hungry which is good.

Fabulous goals, Tia!!! You can so do that! We are here for you!

What is the Sparkpeople website? I'd like to check that out to keep track of food and stuff. Thanks.

Janet posted the site, but I just wanted to add my extra endorsement. I like that you can track different nutrients and goals in addition to the basics. You can also track exercise.

Alright, i am looking forward to new goals for the new year!
I will do my weigh in in the morning, but im thinking ill be around the 150 lb mark. This is pretty much what i was at last year at this time. My problem is i will exercise and watch what i eat for awhile, and then i gt back to my "old ways" of sitting around and eating what i want.
My friend (on the dis and in real life) is giving me a challenge...No soda and/or chips til Feb 1-This is one of my BIGGEST weaknesses but i did good so far!

Here are my goals-
-Exercise at least 30 min, 3 times a week (and report back here to be accountable!)
-At least 4 bottles of water a day
-No chips/soda at all til at least Feb 1
-Cut down on the junk--treats are okay once in awhile, but not every day like i have been doing.

As for my weight loss goal, i would love to be down to 140lbs by the time i graduate college on May 11. That should be 10-15 lbs, depending on my weigh in tomorrow.

I think that posting here will help me feel accountable because i cant lie to you guys!

Since I am not restarting completly until next Monday, as I still have our work holiday party to attend on Sunday, I am slowly readding in the good habits. Although I seriously did alot better this holiday season than last year. Today was increasing the water intake. Tomorrow is excercise.

For those of you just starting out. You can do this. If you fall off the bandwagon just right back in. I will be honest I started out at 246 pounds last January, I lost 20 pounds by February and completly fell off the bandwangon. My life was completly out of control with working 70 to 80 plus hours a week and everything else. I maintained during this time, it wasn't until after the DDA meet in DC in July that I got back on the bandwagon. I have good days and bad days like everyone else, but I keep on swimming and try to improve each day. I have lost more than 60 pounds. If I can do this you can too.

I made it through today & did pretty good. I keep telling myself I can do this! My snacks today consisted of an apple & a granola bar. I even threw away the rest of my chocolate chip cookies. For now that is best so I am not tempted.

I still need to up my water intake, but I will get there!

I went to my WW meeting tonight and faced the music. I could not believe how many people were there. There was at least 2/3 more people than we normally have. I'd say lots of new year's resolutions brought people in. I am pleased to report that I only gained .4 lbs last week so I am up .6 lbs over the last 3 weeks. That is not bad as I was a very bad girl. The leader was saying that the average weight gain over the holidays is 10 - 15 lbs. I guess 1/2 lb isn't too bad. I hope to have that off by next meeting. I also did my workout this morning so I'm 2 for 2 on the exercise front.

It is nice to see so many people committing or recommitting to a healthier lifestyle. Together we can do this. Thanks for keeping me accountable.

Hi Deb-

Im so glad this thread will help me be accountable--i NEED to exercise tomorrow!

That is great Deb! For thinking you were so bad over the holidays, you sure did good :thumbsup2

Good morning! I actually did some excerising this morning, wow am I really out of shape! Using the Sparkpeople website, they give you suggested excercises to do. I just did a little strength training & now I need to walk today for the cardio. It starts you out with baby steps, so I thought I would give it a try & you only have to do it 3 times a week.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Deb,
.6 is awesome...I know I must have gained at least 5-7 lbs over the holiday so you have done great!

Day #2 for me...so far so good. I have such a long road ahead of me.:scared:

So I'm down another 1.4 pounds this past week. I am down 5.2 pounds since November 22 and I am super proud of myself for losing and not gaining this holiday season.:thumbsup2 I did have some gains throughout that time period but overall had a loss.:woohoo: :woohoo:

Great job Becky :cool1:

May seem like a silly question, but what type of scale do you all use? I am thinking of buying a new one, I want to make sure it is accurate.

DH got a pedomotor for Christmas. I burrowed it yesterday when I went to work. From the time I left my house to the time I got home I walked over a mile total. of course this was not constant.

Yeah everybody....good job getting through the first couple of days is always hard. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
I was supposed to excercise tonight...but I had a terrible day at work.....stress, stress, stress!!!! I will do it tomorrow night. My eating has been back on track (I too had an overall loss over the whole entire holiday season), now ya'll just have to kick my butt to get the :banana:excercise going.
Have we heard from our 1/2 marathoners? When are they leaving?

I just have a regular digital scale (weighs in .5 lbs) which I like so you can see even half a lb loss. When I used to frequent the ww's board everyone there raved about the tanita (sp?)
