DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Guys I just checked in to see how everyone was going on and have been touched by the stories and am proud of how you have all done. I should stop by here more often - you guys are so motivational!

I have some good news to share myself - I've been sticking with my daily excercise and stopped worrying about my weight and then I got on the scales and they actually said the magic number! 133lbs :woohoo: It's fluctuating between 132 and 137 - which I think may be more about the scales than me - but I'm happy. I still can't fit in some of my holiday clothes from last year but that's fine as I really was too skinny then.

So here's a little :yay: for all of us :woohoo:

:cheer2: for you too, Clare!

Clare! That's fantastic!!!! I'm so thrilled for you! You should be really proud of yourself!!!

WTG Clare. I wish that I could learn 2 things from you.

1) Daily exercise
2) Don't check the scales daily

You are an inspiration.

I'm not that inspiring honest - I just managed to make excercise a habit. We have this great show over here called Aerobics Oz Style - it's on every morning at 6am and it's just a number of aerobics instructors who take turns leading classes usually in front of the Sydney opera house! I tivo the show. Then whatever time I get out of bed I feed the cats, throw on some trainers and load up the show. They do different stuff every day, low impact, kick boxing, pilates, street dance - it's great, because I never know what's coming so can't get bored. I've missed it only a handful of times in the last few months and find that when I do I'm tired and cranky!

On a work day I just set my alarm for half an hour earlier than I used to so I can fit it in. I'm focusing more on my fitness levels than weight loss as according to the medical charts I'm actually under weight for my height (I'm 5ft8) but I have lost a few pounds.

The best advice I can give is just get up and do it - before you have time to start on something else and get distracted!

Obviously when I go to Disney my daily excercise will be the sheer amount of walking and swimming we'll be doing - but I need you guys to make sure I carry on with the excercise when I get home. I didn't start back up again after my trip last year and then it was May before I decided to get off my butt and get back into it - I don't want to do that again as I end up back at square one.

Sorry for the ramble!

:)

Tuesday Weigh-in Day Update...

Another 2 pounds lost this week for a total of 72 pounds lost. I don't know if I will make the 75 pound goal I was hoping to meet before we leave next week for WDW. But I sure will be close!

I did it! :Pinkbounc Hit the -75 pound mark right on the head this morning!!

Elin!! That is great. I am so proud of you. Have a great trip.

I have weigh in tonight and I'm not looking forward to it. I have be so hungry this week. I have done well to stay within my points, only using a couple of my weekly points each day. I guess I'll be happy if I managed to stay the same.

Congratulations Elin. :woohoo: :cool1:  :cheer2:

I am so proud of you.

I bet you were like this When you stepped on the scale.

Enjoy your trip. :thumbsup2

  Elin that is fantabulous. Yeah for you   Have an awesome trip!!!!!! Tell Mickey :wave2: & give him a hug for me.

Good luck with your weigh in Deb. :thumbsup2

Clare..........keep up the good work. I have been excercising pretty consistently now for about 2 months & I feel alot better (even though the scales aren't really moving any faster as you can see below).

Well.......ladies. I gained a 1/2 a pound at my weigh-in tonight. I just can't break that 40lb barrier for anything. I excercised 4 times this last week & I just don't seem to want to budge. My body seems to like right where it is at the moment. The problem is that I don't :furious: . I am going to keep on swimming :fish:, but I am started to getting a tad bit frustrated.

Hi ladies! I can't get over how well you all are doing! Melanie, you have the best attitude you can have with dieting/living healthy -- just keep swimming! I'm not sticking to any particular plan at this point, so I have to keep reminding myself every day when the scale hovers back and forth around the same numbers. I was down a pound today though, and it's my TOM! We'll see how long it lasts. It's usually not worth reporting, because it just goes back up the next week

As for marathon training, things are going SO slow! I was hurt a little while ago, got some PT for my knee (just wear and tear from dance, no new injury). I'm up to about 8 miles now, though. Some days I run most of it and feel great, other days it's all I can do to walk it. I stay above the "sweeper" pace though, so that's good  Glynis, how is your foot feeling?

I hope you all are doing well! Have a good evening! :goodvibes

Melanie. The exercise is probably the reason that the scales aren't changing. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat. I would suggest taking your measurements. I bet that you are slimming down even though the scales aren't changing. You are right, just keep swimming.

Jennifer it is nice to see you back. I'm glad that you are doing so well maintaining a consistant weight, I think that is harder than losing. You are doing well on the marathon training too. Keep up the good work.

Deb

I had my weigh in and lost another .6 lbs. I will take it as I have been ravenous this week and thought I had probably gained.

Jennifer!!!! It's so good to hear from you!!! I'm so sorry that your knee is giving you problems. My foot seems to be on the mend. I bought some new shoes, and I think that's helping. My old ones were so worn, I think they were hurting me without my knowing it! I'm starting the training slowly again, but it feels good!

Check in again, soon! We miss you!

You bet you'll take it! That's good!

By the way, I love your signature!

Deb,
A loss is a loss take it & run girl----this from the girl who gained half a pound this week & stayed the same the last two before that. Good job. :thumbsup2

Keep up all the great work while I am at WDW. I will need to be prodded and pushed back into shape when I get home, I am sure!

Thanks for all the nice things said about my weight loss this week, especially. I really am delighted with the progress and I feel as if I have a little cushion to allow me to indulge a bit at the F&W Festival without feeling TOO guilty. Have a nice long weekend, everyone! :-)

 Jennifer- Good to see you around. I'm sorry to hear that marathon training isn't going as well as you would like it to be. :grouphug: :wizard: for it to be :boat: smooth sailing from now on out.

Just keep walking and running and training and I am certain that you will finish and do great. :thumbsup2 :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: I am so proud of you for sticking to your training, despite all of your reccent issues and even though you do not really enjoy it. :grouphug:

Deb- Congratulations on your loss. Any downward movement is better than nothing. :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Melanie- Just hang in there and keep moving and making healthy choices. :grouphug: Are you sure you are eating enough calories?? :confused3 If you aren't and with all the excercise you are doing it could be causing your body to gain/maintain instead of lose. Perhaps try a new excercise or eat a few more healthy foods. I know you can do this. :thumbsup2 Muscle weighs more than fat, if your clothe are fitting better and you are losing inches the weigh will in time go down. Just remember how much you have already lost and how far you have come. :thumbsup2 Just keep moving and making healthy choices. :cheer2: :cheer2:
