DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Hey everyone! We must all be pretty busy here! Not too many posts !

I'm doing really well so far on nutrisystems. Day 4 starts withy a total weight loss of 4 lbs. I honestly have to say though that I'm not really thrilled with the food. I'm thinking baout letting this food run out and cancelling my order at QVC. I've been comparing calories , fat etc on the back of the nutrisystems food with the convienece food you can buy at the grocery store and they are practically identical. So- I'm thinking about following the same plan but using food from grocery store. I'll let ya know what I decide. I may just stick with nutrisystems because it is working, but I'm afraid the taste of the food might be something that I can't live with too long.
I haven't started excerscising yet either- I'm just too busy. I've got to figure this thing out before too long though- so please send pixie dust so I can get it under control!

Melanie- have you visited HH yet? I've always wondered about that resort and what there was to do there.

Glynis- you are too much of a softie! I can't believe you make 2 dinners every night! Try getting the kids invovled in helping with dinner nad I'll bet you end up with kids that like more foods. And.... NO MORE CATERING TO THAT BUNCH OF CUTE KIDS!!! You just need to be a "mean mom" and only cook once! You're right- they know where the PBJ is!! The date with the surgeon has been changed to the 13th instead of the 7th- the Dr. had to change for some reason. I'll keep you posted!

I have not taken the time to do the comparisons you have, but I have to say I like the NutriSystem foods. I will admit that they are not quite as tasty as what I make, but the convenience and the portion control factor is certainly winning out for me. Make certain to check sodium amounts in the entrees you find at the store. I have been looking at that and it seems NutriSystem has lower sodium counts overall.

Well, I've exercised and counted my points diligently over the last week and half...first week went down 5 pounds, this week, nothin', nada, zip! I know I need to keep up and it will continue to drop off, but it is disappointing when you have a week of nothin' happening. With superbowl coming this weekend, I know I will eat bad stuff (we're hosting the party this year and our team is in the game for the first time EVER)....good news is I don't drink, so those empty beer calories won't happen.

Just gotta keep up!
Thanks all!

Don't beat yourself up about it! These things happen. I've found that the week before my cycle, I start to plateau and it doesn't stop until afterwards. I know, probably TMI. Anyway, don't give up! Just plan your Superbowl party with some good foods. Make sure you put out some veggies and dip to balance out the chips and dip. Try baking buffalo wings instead of frying them. You can totally do this! We're all behind you 100%! Just do your best!

Good news, everyone! I broke the plateau this morning. I'm down another pound! Hooray! I've kept up the walking, and am noticing a big difference in the fit of my jeans around my hips (always a problem area).

Karen - I've done as you suggested. We sat down with the kids and talked about healthy eating. I showed them all my healthy recipes, and let them each pick out some that they know they like. So, we are creating a calendar of meals that they like, with a couple of new dishes a week thrown in. So far, so good. They are really starting to like the fish that I cook, and now they prefer sweet potatoes to white ones. Baby steps, right? I've also started keeping cut up carrots, celery and cucumbers in the fridge with small cups of ranch dressing for their after school snacks. Now they reach for that instead of for cookies. Well, most of the time. We're getting better.

Have a great day everyone!

I do hereby proclaim....

Super Bowl Sunday is a day of NON DIETING!!!!

Thank you very much! party: party: party: party: party:

Back on track & it feels good actually. Still debating whether to join Curves or the other brand new fitness center that opened up. I feel like I need to go somewhere to excercise because once I get home from work I can forget about ever getting it done. :rotfl2:

Karebear.....I haven't ever stayed at Disney's Hilton Head resort myself, but we go to Hilton Head every spring for vaccation & I love it there. We decided to buy points there because they were cheaper & we found a contract with the right # of points for us. The resort is beautiful-we have gone over & walked around. There is lots to do at HH-beside the ocean, they have great bike trails, shopping, great restaurants, great places to go & listen to live music etc.

As for the Super Bowl, I am glad we don't really watch pro-football or have any parties to go to so I won't be tempted to overindulge. But, here is some pixiedust: for all of you with Super Bowl Challenges coming up.

Good for you Disneygirl! Keep it up! I found that Curves wasn't worth the money for me b/c I couldn't figure out where to fit it in my schedule. But you might like it as the environment is very low key.

Well, I've felt bad about not losing this week, so I ate crap food yesterday (a chicken burger...what was I thinking!) and now I'm back up a pound! I did exercise after (guilt), but that apparently didn't help!

I will be good this weekend, I will be good this weekend, I will be good this weekend!

I realize what works better for me than the daily weighing thing is to do the once a week weighing...otherwise I stress too much about the whole thing and shoot myself in the foot. It is really not about each pound this time for me, but about building endurance (and if I lose a few pounds in the deal, it's a bonus).
SO I will not weigh myself until middle of next week!

THANKS ALL!

Hey Y'all! I am back!
I have been bad, never quite got back on track after all the company, sickness, etc. BUT I can't fit in my clothes and Dh and I are determined to do the Marathon in January!!!

Today, I ate okay, but tonight was GREAT!

Dh and I walked 2 miles in 32 minutes!! It felt good and I was proud of myself. Afterward, we got online and read all about the marathon in Disney and then we ordered the Book...
Marathoning for Mortals by John Bingham.
The Wish board recommends it and it got great praise on the Amazon site. From Amazon it is only 10.49 I think. I ordered a book Megan has been drooling over and my order was over $25 so free shipping.

My walking path is flat so I will eventually have to work in the hills, but for now I am psyched. :cheer2:

Now I have to concetrate on the food thing!! :guilty:

Looks like Glynis and Elin are doing great! I might have to check out Nutrisystem!

Good Luck everyone!
Nancy

So we walked again today. It was tough after our walk last night. My legs got tired faster. We walked about 1 and 3/4 miles in 30 minutes.

I did the first mile in 16 minutes, and spent time sounting my steps. I took 69 a minute. On the wish board they recommend 70 per minute to walk and 90 per minute to run. I can do it for a while, now I have to build up my stamina.

Food...not so good...

Great job on the walking Nancy!!!
I bought a new pair of excercise shoes today & I am going to join Curves this week I have finally decided....the only thing in my way of starting my excercise program on Monday is I have a terrible ear infection & my ear feels like this :listen: & it is so sore that the whole right side of my head hurts, so I might have to put it off until midweek when my antibiotics kick in & my ear feels better.
My eating is on target though. :thumbsup2
Yall have a great weekend.

Thanks for the information. That is extremely helpful! I'm not quite where you are in the walking department, but I can now do a mile in 20 minutes. I'm working on upping the pace, and I feel pretty good about it. Of course, the trick will be to keep the pace up for 13.1 miles, right?

Hey, don't worry too much about the food. It takes time to get back on track, and you are doing great with the exercise. I've been doing pretty well with the food, but noticed that I was getting really lightheaded after walking each morning. I talked to my doctor and he told me to up my carbs just a little and that seems to be helping. I've added in a quarter cup of cream of wheat in the morning. It hasn't affected my weight (that I've noticed) and I don't feel like I'm going to pass out after walking for a half hour or so.

By the way, I've broken the plateau, and am feeling really pumped again!

It is good to see people posting again. I have not been able to get back on track after my sinus infection, but seeing everyone else making strides has given me the motivation to restart my program tomorrow. Diet, exercise and a new sleep plan. I have been staying up very late every night and then taking a nap during the day which results in my not being tired until very late. See the cycle. Anyway, my goal is to get to bed by 10 PM and forgo the naps. I think that I will be much more productive without the midday nap and I hope that I have more energy too.

My jeans have gotten tight again so I know that I gained some of the weight back that I had lost, but I don't think that I regained it all. Chris also went off the diet when I did so I am hoping that he will restart with me tomorrow. I keep telling myself that bathingsuit weather is just around the corner. I must get rid of this extra flab. I don't want to look worse in a bathing suit this year than I did last year. Maybe I need to put a photo on the fridge to remind me.

So keep up the good work everyone. For those of you that have stopped posting for whatever reason, It is time for us all to get back on track. Start checking in. We are looking for you.

Thanks for the boost, Deb! I have been the same way. I fell off of eating well the week I was sick and then contineud for the week Terra was sick. After that, I just haven't been able to get back on track. Tomorrow is a new day though and I am going to get back on track!

Hi everyone-
ive had a really hard time getting back into things after the cruise..then i got sick and some other issues came up..but starting tomorrow, im back into exercising..i may need a kick in the butt but i NEED to start again!

I got some Asics 2110's. My husband swears by his Asic's for running. Going to do the excercise thing Wednesday as my ear is still hurting a little bit too much to start tomorrow & I have my Weight Watchers weigh in on Tuesday after work.

Keep going everybody. We can do it.
 :cool1: :cheer2:  :cool1: :cheer2:

Bathing suit season.......... :crazy2: I don't even want to think about that. :rolleyes1

So did a bunch of us restart yesterday? I did. I restarted my diet plan and exercised for 20 minutes. :cool1: Now I need to kick myself in the butt to exercise today. The diet isn't too hard for me, but the exercise factor is tough. I know it is all mental as I feel great when I do it. So tell me your progress, I really do want to know.

I swear I posted on here yesterday.....I can't see it now!?! :confused3 :rotfl:

Ok, I'm an idiot :rotfl:

It was on the wrong thread. But here it was!

(Originally posted yesterday):
No real weight progress that I'm aware of.... and really no difference in clothing that I can tell, but it's also a bad week to judge

BUT .... we did 5 miles today at a 15-minute pace and I still had tons of energy at the end. It's not much, but we're finally getting somewhere. I also realized that, as we suspected, my biggest battle will be mental --- I was bored out of my MIND after about 2.

The goal for the Flying Pig half is a 15 minute pace (although it allows 20, so that's nice to know! :) ), so it was nice to see what that felt like. That's in May, so if I can successfully do that, we'll move onto our WDW goals of 13 and 10 minute paces........ that seems so fast! :earseek:

How are you all doing (early) this week? :goodvibes

ETA: I'm off to check out some new shoes. These babies are waaaay too old to actually start running  Not to mention they're from the boys section (not mens), so I'm not sure the fit is really all that great. I mean, they "fit", as shoes go..... but they hardly offer any support anywhere! :rotfl2:
