DDA Chapter 9

Elin - you are beginning to sound like Elizabeth.

:teeth: ;)

I KNOW!!! I felt as if I was channeling her. :rotfl:

ETA: And I think that post proves Bob's theory that I don't know how to relax here at home!

Well, I just got a phone call from Bob. He actually went out of his office so we could talk about the December trip. He wants AKL all the way.

I also just answered the phone from our bank. Kristin had applied there for a teller's position that has her name written all over it. Work hours are M-F 12-6 and every 4th Saturday. That would allow her to pursue acting jobs too. They wanted to talk to her to set up an interview. Luckily they know me because I was able to set one up on Monday for her. Otherwise, since she doesn't get back from the beach until Sunday they would not have been able to talk to her until Monday and that may have been too late!

I think I cannot make any reservations now until she has that interview. It is possible that her work schedule won't permit any time off around the holidays. So, I will continue to plan. And then when I know more, I will contact Chanon.

Elin - Of course you should stay at AKL the whole time! ;)
I did finally get 2 of our 3 club level nights on an AP rate, so just keep calling.

Our 2009 plans are coming together. I am going to TRY to get a week in a club level studio. We have just enough points for that. Then I'll do 2 cash nights at the beginning or the end.

The girls on the breast cancer thread want to do a meet in early December 2009, so I am thinking about that, too.

For 2010 I would love to bring my mom. That's also my 40th birthday. We'll have to see. That would require a 2 bedroom villa, so we would have to borrow points from 2011. We would also have to pay for the majority of her other trip expenses, PLUS possibly pay for Diva, too. :scared: BUT my family will have valid APs so we won't have to buy park tickets for us. I guess we'll just see how things progress. Airfare may be $700 per person by then. That's also the summer before Diva's senior year. I would HOPE she would have a JOB. DS really just wants to bring my mom, but I feel like we kind of have to include Diva. If she doesn't want to go that's her own thing. :confused3

I hope all your trip plans fall into place, Elizabeth. I know you will work very hard to make sure that they do! ;)

Elin - Good luck to Kristin on her interview! I was a bank teller twice. Once after high school graduation for a couple of months, and once when DH and I were dating for a couple of months. Not my cup of tea, but not a bad job!

At my first job the bank was in the mall. A customer went into one of the stores with a money order for $1100 and wanted to make a purchase for like $8. The store either brought the money order to us or the customer did - I can't remember - they wanted to cash it. I felt REALLY weird about it, but the branch manager told me to cash it. It came back because it was only supposed to be $11 - the customer had altered it. And I got in trouble for accepting it! :headache: Of course the branch manager had NO recollection of FORCING me to process the transaction! I quit because I decided to move to Texas with my parents, but it really wasn't the job for me anyway.

At my second bank job they had a very incomplete training program, so they were always scolding me for things after the fact. I am not sure how I was supposed to comply with regulations they never told me about. Morale in the branch was HORRIBLE. After the first few weeks I quit and went back to my old retail job.

Oh, I don't even mind sharing here. I just didn't want to blab on about it if nobody was interested anymore... or miss your post if I wasn't on for a while! :rotfl:

There are probably a dozen sites that offer this service, but I'll share the ones I used and my thoughts :)

wiialerts.org is an incredibly nice site. They have lots of options available for which stores you'd like to track, various ways to be alerted (email, pop up on your screen, text, etc). I get several alerts from them per day (at first I was including searches for bundles that included wii fit, not just the game), and they have always been accurate. When you get an alert, you go to their site (there aren't details in the text, it's just a standard message every time) and there will be a link on the first page that is directly to the product you were referred to, if that makes sense. They also have sort of 'reviews' on what sites are notorious for canceling orders or give "false alarms" (say they're in stock but NOBODY reports seeing it as such), etc.

That being said, I ended up scoring the Wii fit with findoos.com. It doesn't look like much, and I think that's why it works :rotfl: I read somewhere that they have fewer subscribers, etc so the texts go out more quickly. In this instance anyway, I can vouch for that. I got the text from that site, got the Wii Fit, and it was sold out almost immediately. After it was gone, I got alerts from the other site, and the email from findoos.com.

The other one site that seemed to update in fairly real time was nowinstock.net

I hope that helps! Like I said, it only took 1.5 days from when we decided to buy to get one (hopefully, assuming it comes  ). Of course, had I not been on the computer at the time it would have been different, so there is certainly some luck to it... but it appears that, for now anyway, something like this is better than sheer dumb luck! :confused3 :teeth:

ETA: These sites are all free, but of course they will remind you (as will I) that 'standard messaging rates may apply' ;)

Thanks! :goodvibes

I had almost exactly the same experience...signed up for wikalerts.com and findoos.com and got the findoos alert a good minute before I got the wii alerts one...I contemplated whether I should spend the money too long and lost the one in my shopping cart :headache: But im anxious to get another shot heh

Then off to the hotel.

We are so excited. I am even wearing makeup. Gotta be ready for pictures. :lmao:

Not sure how fast pictures from the meet will be posted, keep an eye on All Ears and we will post on Sunday.

Have a great weekend everyone

Good luck to Kristin on her interview! I hope she gets that job. It will be perfect for her.

Alyssa had her drama camp show this morning. It lasted about 15 minutes. There were only 4 kids in her camp but she loved it and wants to audition for a show whenever they start a production.

I took Nicholas back to the dr. for a recheck, and he got an inhaler that he is to use 2x daily.

Now we are off to the pool for a few hours before they leave.

I am glad Alyssa had fun and wants to continue acting! :thumbsup2

Also very happy to hear that the doctor is sending Nicholas on vacation with the inhaler. I think since there is a smoker present it is a good preemptive strike! I know there have been times (very few, but they have occured) that Bob has forgotten he can't smoke somewhere. It is very easy to do I am sure and this way Nicholas ought to be protected. :goodvibes
