DDA Chapter 9

Glynis - Yay for trip planning! :cool1:

Anne Marie - I couldn't have rattled off what it stands for. :rotfl2: Good for you!

Stephanie - That is a big old serious boat! I think I would be scared to go on something that huge.

Diva said Ms. Selfish is looking at coming to visit July 11. Which is fine, as long as Mom feels better. That will be well before her chemo begins, so Mom can see the little ankle biters and send them home before her first infusion. The problem I am left with is what to do if her infusion doesn't go well. :headache: One of the girls on the breast cancer thread just had her second infusion and had a horrible reaction to it, and now they have to retool her entire treatment plan. So apparently if Mom's first one is OK we still aren't in the clear! Ugh. More stress.

Thanks, Elizabeth! The draw for that Holiday Inn is the waterslide/pool for the kids. I may rethink it. I'm glad to know that the area is ok, though.

I am so used to everything being smoke-free around here that I didn't even think of that.

:rotfl2: Diva said the pool was definitely gross, and crowded. Perhaps some more research is in order!

It's just too bad that you couldn't make a jog from Colorado to Utah. Then I could tell you in person! How's that for throwing a wrench in your planning works.

I'm still waiting for some DDA to take me up on the offer of a real pioneer meal cooked in Dutch ovens over an open fire. That's got to tempt someone!!!

I can make my own meal in a dutch oven. But perhaps I will have to go west again in 2009. As this year I was supposed to go several places west. I am going west, but am then leaving the country.

I have lots of states to visit west I have never been. I am thinking maybe Colorado, Utah and Nevada.

I am wondering if I should drive myself to my training in NY and then extend it another day or two. But I am supposed to carpool and that is probably what will happen.

I would love to go to a conference in Boston in December, but am not sure how the weather will be for driving there.

Or maybe Australia, or Africa, Korea, etc. I want to visit all 50 states and all 7 continents and as many countries as possible.

So many places to go, so little time.

Ireland, Antarctica, Canada, Galapagos Islands, France, Alaska, I could go on but I will stop.

So here is the update on my interview-I left a message for the woman that called me yesterday--She called me back at work and gave me a time for the interview, directions, etc. She said they do not need me to bring my portfolio and the interview will be 10-15 minutes. So I asked if it was for a specific position or a general interview. She said it was for a positino that is TWO HOURS a day, afterschool, working one on one with an autistic child.

I said thansk and got off the phone and had a meltdown. I wasj ust so looking forward to this interview. this is not a job that I can do--I cannot have just 2 hours a day afterschool--I am still goign to the interview but i am very discouraged..so just wanted to sahre the "update"

I don't think I'd even do the interview considering it's not something that you could really commit too. I had a mother of a special needs child call me a couple of years ago as she was looking for an aid to attend school with her daughter. I wasn't even looking nor had I ever thought of it :confused3 Needless to say I stayed home with my little one :thumbsup2

You totally should!!! We could take you camping at Lake Powell, see Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Arches, etc. So much to do, and since you love camping, it would be so easy!

We really hope to do a trip West at some point. There is so much to see and all the natural beauty. someday :cloud9:

Hi everyone. I'm glad these 3 days are over.

Tomorrow we leave to go to my parents', so I won't be around much until Monday night. I'm sure I'll check in every now and again though.

Deb - If I don't get on before you leave, I hope you all have a marvelous time!

Tom - Leighanna is adorable.

Jen -

Elizabeth - congrats on your waitlist success. I immediately checked mine when I saw your post, however I wasn't as lucky. I'm still hoping though!

Glynis - So glad everything is okay!

Happy 1st bday to Lucy!!!

That's all I can remember now, as I am exhausted. :wizard: and  to you all!

Have a safe trip. I hope your visit is fun. I know that you have plans to keep you busy though.

Hunter and I are watching a planning DVD and he is telling me all the things that he wants to do. He's got a long list too. The house is looking much better, only a few things to spruce up before the bug guy comes tomorrow. I will actually have to get up and showered in the morning :faint: Hopefully I will be ready for bed earlier than I normally am tomorrow night since I want to get some sleep before we leave.

Just talked to the doctor and it seems that all is well. So, I can stop worrying and just be. Thanks for all your well wishes and pixie dust. I need all that I can get!

I am so glad to read this tonight!

Well, Elin, one thing I can tell you is that Stephanie is morphing into me!!!

My car does not have straps you can hang on to when one is going around a corner. I tend to be a lead foot. So just imagine Stephanie crossing her chest to hang on. :lmao: Okay not a good thing!!!!!

Today going back to work, she is zipping around in her Wolfie and she turns and goes down one road we really don't go cause that is sorta out of the way. When she turned, she said, "now why did I go this way, I don't know." I told her she just wanted to do a lot of zigging and zagging on a windy road and I proceeded to grap the door strap to get ready for the first zig. Naturally that left us in uproarious laughter the whole way back to work. :rotfl2:

and your tale left me grinning here tonight! thanks, Terry. :goodvibes

Tom - Leighanna's toothless grin is contagious!

Beth - your itinerary looks terrific.

 that is tough, Jen. I hope that you hear something from another school system that has the intelligence to choose a dedicated, energetic young teacher!

I am caught up but stopped replying because I am falling asleep at the computer! I have not packed yet. I know, I know, Elizabeth! I have all the clothes out and ready to pack, but just ran out of time. I have a LOT to do tomorrow before Kristin and I leave here about 1:00. I also have to teach two classes in the morining so I have less time than I thought. Oh, well... it will get done.

Talk you all in the morning.
