DDA Chapter 9

I was able to get Colby an appointment this morning. It seems that one of his molluscum lesions became infected so he has a bit of cellulitus under his knee. She said that normally she would just treat it with hot compresses and gentle pressure, but since we're going on vacation she gave me an antibiotic prescription. Of course our pharmacy didn't have it in stock and I didn't have his insurance cards with me as they are in the camper so I need to run out tonight to fill the prescription. Hopefully it will do the trick. We are doing hot compresses too, but there is no drainage yet. We also found out while we were there that what we thought was poison ivy on Summer's hand is actually her first outbreak of molluscum. So now she has a couple of years of outbreaks to look forward to :headache:

I came home and got Nick's room completely cleaned and went out mowed the rest of the lawn. Chris did all the trim and push mowing last night so I just had to ride the riding mower for 1 1/2 hours. At least it is done now. tonight we will finish up the housework and begin packing the back of the truck. By the time Chris gets home from work tomorrow I hope to be completely ready.

Has anyone tried the pasta dishes from Pizza Hut? I'm wondering if it would be good cold while we're travelling? I'm thinking cold pizza and cold pasta instead of just sandwiches.

I still haven't figured out exactly what we are doing on those days yet. I think Garden of the Gods and Pike's Peak the first day. The second day there is so much that looks like fun, and I don't know how much we'll be able to fit in.

I saw that Cheyenne Frontier Days are during that week. Do you know if it will be difficult to get through? Should we try to squeeze in anything in that area? There just isn't enough time!!!

I wish I had stuck an extra day in there, but I can't rearrange everything now...or can I? Maybe I'll look at that. It would mean switching three hotels (one of which my mother reserved on her Marriott points). An extra night in CO Springs would be great.

Beth

You will not find too much traffic through most of WY....yes it will be slower but not really a whole lot. Your best bet is to not even get off the highway unless you have to.

I got the day off for the second of your 2 CO days....we can't wait to meet you. :goodvibes Just think of it as getting a taste of Colorado Springs and there will be a whole lot more to come back and see. I am still trying to get Jen back here;)

Beth...maybe you guys can stop at Gino's East for Pizza..(they have chicago style cheesecake too)

in Rosement you will be close by to one of the restaurants..it's a Chicago address...but it is 5 minutes tops away from you

Thanks! I'll write that down. And thank you for all the other help via PMs, too! I have a hotel in Rosemont, and I ordered 1 day visitor passes for the CTA.

Deb...

I forgot tot tell you...I swear I saw your friend (it's AR right?) at DS....she was a photopass photographer. I was going to go up to her...but the line was too long and the kids were grumpy.

sure thing! :) which hotel did you decide on?

when I met Marci for lunch today...it was at a hotel in Rosemont....they have a lot of choices around there

I am very excited! I just checked availability, and we can't switch nights at the hotel my mother booked on her points. They have nothing for the night before. I don't want to bother her by having her cancel, but maybe... I'll talk to dh and the kids tonight. I feel like so much of this vacation will be rushing from one point to the next.

The Holiday Inn Select. I can cancel until 6pm that night if you know any reason I shouldn't stay at that one. It's further from the CTA station than some of the others, but we'll have a car and that station is listed as having parking.

so would you be adding a day to the front end or the back end??

Beth-We are camping up near Pikes Peak in a couple of weekends (for my birthday) so if there is something you want me to check out in that area I'd be happy to.

Because of the improbability of being able to switch out the National Parks reservations at this late date, I would have to leave from home one day earlier. That would also put me in St. Louis on a Thursday-Friday instead of Friday-Saturday which might be better. I don't want to cause any extra headaches for my mother, though. I wish I had that reservation myself.

great,
really anything with sugar nd cold usually works. That is what we do when we are trying to get reactive NST's and the peanuts are not cooperating.

Good to know. I'm keeping all this in mind as I go through this. It's been so long since I've been pregnant! I think I've forgotten more than I ever knew!

 Hi, all! I have been following along for the most part.

Glynis, I hope that baby starts moving around a lot to put your mind at ease.

 Elizabeth, I am glad that you are back at home, and I hope that your mom only improves from here on out.

Stephanie, CONGRATS on Wolfie!

I know that I've read more, but my brain seems to have ceased functioning for the moment.

I've been busy working on more of my trip itinerary (for out West, not WDW...I need to get started on that, too). I think I have a lot of it set, but there is always more to do. Time is moving awfully fast right now, and next week will be worse, since I'll be working at Nationals for synchro most days.

Here is the condensed version:

Day 1 - Home to Dayton, OH
Day 2 mid-afternoon - Day 3 early afternoon - St. Louis
Day 3 - Topeka, KS
Day 4 -late afternoon - Day 5 early afternoon - Colorado Springs/Denver
Day 5 - Casper, WY
Day 6 - Grand Tetons National Park
Day 7-9 Yellowstone National Park
Day 10- Keystone, SD (Mount Rushmore)
Day 11 - Badlands (staying about 1 hour east in Murdo, SD)
Day 12 - Winona, MN or Olaska, WI
Dat 13 - Chicago (Rosemont)- spending most of 7/30 in Chicago
Day 14 - Toledo
Day 15 - HOME

On your Day 1 and Day 14 you are traveling past me! And looks like I'm the halfway point too for either direction too... :teeth: Let me know!
Do you want me to mail you some National Parks brochures?

Thanks! Any idea if the Manitou Cliff Dwellings are worth doing? I'm trying to remember what else I had on that list.

  I think after a miscarriage we all tend to be extra nervous. I know that I was. I think I finally allowed myself to relax at about 18 weeks when we had the ultrasound that said it was a "he".

I'm waiting for that one! It's done at 20 weeks here, so I've got a bit. It's scheduled for July 22nd.

I can't believe it's time for your trip already!!! I'm so excited to hear all about it! I just know you are going to have the best time in the world!

Those are both long driving days for us, so may need a break.

We always love mail!

I need to think about WDW tickets, too! Now that Laura knows, I think I'm set...we'll need 10-day with hopping and water parks. I was waiting to talk to her about water parks (though I could have figured the answer) and to make sure that we didn't want to switch to a package with DDP. Definitely room only plus tickets. Do you sell 10 days? The AAA magazine only lists up through 7 day.

not a problem,
just remember that you are also several lbs lighter then you were last time you got pregnant:)
