It was definitely a surprise running into Vicki & her family!!!

It's been a great couple of days! It is hot, hot, hot!!! Not my kind of weather but we are surviving. The trip has been fantastic so far. I don't know if Kristine has been on yet today but you aren't going to believe this. Kristine and I ended up in line for Dumbo together today. Not only that but we were in line DIRECTLY behind them. There was no one in between us. What are the odds of that? :lmao: She got to meet my mother, sister and her kids. My girls are very upset with me because I didn't introduce them. As odd as it sounds, I just assumed that the girls knew her. I forget that we met when the girls weren't with us. I'll do a trip report but had just a few minutes to check in! We are doing well.

It's helping! I'm now on Shoebuy's website - and more alert for dyable options. Though that does bring up another question...
Where does one dye shoes anymore??
Way back when, I was able to take a swatch with me to the shoe store that I bought them at. They would send them out to dye them.

I'm pretty sure the bridal stores still do this.

Chanon, do you have a Bridal and Formal or a David's Bridal near you?

Is she not responding to your PMs? :confused3

She and I corresponded quite a bit yesterday and she posted on the "moms to be" thread this morning...

I haven't PMd her. She usually is here at some point during the day. Doesn't she know that her "family" is thinking of her :goodvibes

Elin, what lovely gifts!

Heidi, I'm sorry about your uncle. Congratulations to your cousin!

Vicki and Kristine, now that is a fun way to run into each other! (Though it doesn't top the time I saw Lindsay guiding her group with a Coke bottle over her head. :rotfl: ) Nice picture!

Deb, sorry work is so slow. I know the few times we've eaten out lately, our servers seem very grateful we're there!

I'm off to bed. Between the heat last night and the sunburn on my back I didn't sleep well. Hopefully tonight will be better

Heidi-sorry for your loss. Congrats to your cousin!

Theresa-sorry for your loss. Hope your wrist is better!

Janet-prayers for Jacob's family. Your living room looks awesome!

Elizabeth-glad you were able to book flights.

Deb-sounds like you're coming along nicely in remodeling and trip preps!

Denise-sorry for your loss.

I've been a fowl little mood..... I discovered my Amex bill was a day late. Of course I just started using it more so I'm going to get hit hard on that.:headache: I took Friday off so DH could have a routine medical test. I went to Joe's concert and was feeling out of place with all the other moms who were young, size 4's, dressed in designer clothes and LOTS of them had VERY expensive dSLR's. I don't care about age or clothes but I would feel better being smaller and would love some of those expensive cameras I saw. I felt way out of place. When I brought Joe to soccer I was surprised again but all the moms who had expensive camera equipment. I'm nost talking dSRL's. They had huge expensive lenses too. Must be a new trend in this town. I suppose the heat doesn't help. We only have a room AC in just our bedroom.

Come on over to Ohio! I'd love to go shoe shopping with someone else besides me! We have Geauga Lakes White Water Kingdom (which is similar to the "theme parks" that everyone's been mentioning) but it's the first year for the water park portion only...BUT if you drive this far, then you might as well go to Cedar Point!

That's what I was afraid of. I'll have to try them together. THe bridesmaids dress is a brown - so I'm not sure on wearing brown shoes. I'm still looking for ivory/champane colored shoes. Keep an eye out for me everyone!

ill road trip :)

Anyone watching Army Wives?

I have this trip planned that it's not so go, go, go. Mornings at the park, afternoons at the pool, one day at the waterpark, an evening of minigolf.

That sounds like it will work well. We always go in the summer and make sure to get up early, take naps/rest time and use the pool a lot.

I ordered our annual passes today, DH is already trying to figure out how many trips we can "sneak" in. We'll see how the drive goes in August, we'll be taking his truck but if we take my car we will get much better gas mileage.

Congrats on APs!

Pace yourself, Kristine! You still have a LOT of fun coming your way! :rotfl2:

DH is worried that Mom's dental work will delay her surgery, and that will mean I have flights booked for nothing. I think I can change the flights if I have to, but I bet I won't find more flights for $41 each way!

As our ticker keeps ticking I am getting nervous again. I was nervous that our trip would be ruined by bad bus service. Now I am worried about my mom being OK. When this started it seemed like there was ALL this time before the trip, but with all of the waiting it feels like we are almost right on top of the trip. Her surgery is barely 6 weeks before our departure. I don't feel quite as guilty as I did, but now I am worried. :worried:

I don't blame you for being concerned, and I know that not everything as far as medical conditions can go as planned or as we've researched, but you shouldn't let it worry you in to guilt. Her prognosis is excellent. Try not to worry so much about "what ifs." I know, easy for me to say, hard to practice. My Aunt, who was in her mid-60s went through a very similar surgery/treatment, and she's not in good health -- diabetic and very overweight, and it really wasn't that big of a deal. She stayed one night in the hospital, and was up running around getting her hair done etc. the next week. Sending lots of PD to you for Peace.

A police officer was killed here in Fredericksburg late last night. A 40 yr. old man, with 2 yrs on, responded to a domestic dispute, exboyfriend armed with a gun. Bad guy was killed to, in an exchange of gunfire. It happened in an apt. complex parking lot, which is close to where Nicholas plays baseball. I feel so bad for the family.

How terrible.

I liked it. There was a scene with ants that I HATED... closed my eyes because it was a little more than I wanted to see. But I really liked it.

I felt the same way about the movie, and the ants.

How many of your teachers gifts for the end of the year?

I give them to all the main teachers, (pedicures) but not the specials teachers like art, music, drama, motor etc. Andrew's two speech teachers got Borders gift cards. It is amazing to me that my kids are really doing well and enjoying school, despite all their learning differences, so I go out of my way to show appreciation, even with cards and notes during the school year. For all three conferences, I buy breakfast breads (very inexpensive) and take those to show I care. It's not necessary, but I want to do it. As a rule here in Texas, private school teachers make less money than public school teachers, yet in many cases, they have more training required. Besides, the teachers change grades a lot at our school, and since it's small, either of the kids could have another teacher again.

I just received a very sad phone call from one of Garrett's friends. Remember the boy who broke our front window last year? His father died this morning of a heart attack. I feel so sad for Jacob :sad1:

Very sad! Sending PD to that family.

If it is any indication, I received fewer end-of-the-year gifts the past two weeks. We have talked about this before... I never expect any but always receive many. Christmas there were a lot, this recital season about half what I have received in the past.

Either I am becoming a lousy teacher, or people are listening to me when I say I don't want anything or they are cutting back.

You are not a lousy teacher -- we've seen the trips with your award-winning students and know what type of person/parent you are. The economy stinks and I think a lot of people are trying to be more cautious with finances. That's one of the reasons we cancelled our spring break trip.

I haven't caught up yet, but wanted to say hello and send PD to all of those who need it. My weekend was just as busy as previous ones, but the kids had great times at the parties/baseball tournament. Night everyone!

I think the camera thing is an end of year thing to capture those last moments in the current activities. I have noticed them recently, when I have not previously at similar events. I covet them very much. I really would like a DSLR before my trip, but keep telling myself what I have takes good enough pictures for now.

Eventually that is something I will purchase instead of coveting. I have wanted one for 5+ years. I know it is something that would get used. I use what I have weekly if not more often. I am hoping with the economy being crappy that I could get a great deal, but at the same time keep thinking it is frivolous and unnecessary.

As for the weight I know the feeling of wanting to be a size 4. For whatever reason I notice it more now, then when I weighed 250 pounds. I guess I am more aware of my body size. It drives me crazy because I know how I far I have come, but at the same time want to weigh 50 pounds less.:rolleyes1

Night all it is back to work tomorrow. My weekend was far to short.

This made me cry, Marci... Thank you for your kind words.

I told Kristin yesterday that I am crying at the drop of a hat these days. I must be hormonal, but no monthly visitor to take the edge off! :confused3
